A mountain wedding weekend in Adjara runs over three days: a welcome dinner on arrival, the wedding with a bonfire to close the night, and a slow day after with breakfast, yoga and a half-day jeep trip to Green Lake. Here is what each part costs in 2026 and how to book it.

A wedding in the mountains of Adjara is a weekend, not an evening. Guests arrive the day before, sit down to a welcome dinner, celebrate the wedding and end the night around the fire, then get a slow day after: breakfast, a walk or a jeep trip to Green Lake, and the drive back to Batumi.

This guide takes each part of that weekend in turn, with what it includes, what it costs in 2026 and how far ahead to book it. It is written for weddings of about 30 guests at a venue in the Khulo mountains, about 2 to 2.5 hours from Batumi, and every place named here has a card with its contacts and its spot on the map.

Which venue fits a wedding weekend with guest activities?

For a guest programme that runs over two or three days, the venue matters more than the activities: it decides whether everyone sleeps in one place, whether the evening fire and the morning yoga are part of the stay, and how far the day trips are. These are the three Adjara venues couples compare most often.

Glamping Tago (our venue), Village Tago, Khulo

Glamping Tago sits on a ridge at about 1,200 m above Village Tago, in Khulo municipality. A wedding books the whole camp: the 12 Lotus tents and the dorm sleep 33, the 150 m2 event tent stands on a deck above the valley, and the ceremony meadow faces the mountains, two minutes' walk from the tents. The fire circle, the wood-fired sauna and the yoga dome are all part of the stay, so most of what this guide describes happens without anyone getting in a car.

Eco House Merisi, Keda

Eco House Merisi runs its own wedding weekend in the Merisi valley: a pre-wedding dinner in one of two restaurant halls, the celebration, breakfast for all guests the next morning, then excursions and master classes. A full hotel buyout is possible; without one, your guests share the hotel with others. It lies in the Merisi side valley: going there adds about 23 km to the Batumi to Khulo drive, so trips to the high mountains start further away.

Chateau Kvirike, Kobuleti

Chateau Kvirike is the coastal option: a hotel near Kobuleti, 34 km from Batumi airport, with a vineyard, a pool and an ethnographic museum used for weddings, and five tours on its own grounds, from a wine road to dinner in the vineyard. The mountain day trips in this guide become long days out from here.

What does a three-day wedding weekend in Adjara look like?

Most couples who marry in the mountains plan three days: arrival and welcome dinner, the wedding day, and a slow day after. Couples themselves usually arrive two or three days early. A fourth day works for guests who want the long trip to Khikhani Fortress.

This is close to how real weekends run here. At one July 2026 wedding of 27 guests at Glamping Tago, the Mountain Supra came with a BBQ, the host and DJ set up away from the tents, the parents took the sauna in the evening, a bonfire closed the night and the next day began with yoga on the grass after breakfast.

Where should the welcome dinner be: at the venue or at a winery on the way up?

At a mountain venue the easiest welcome dinner is the one on site, because guests arrive tired from the road and nobody has to drive afterwards. A winery stop on the way up works best as a tasting in the early afternoon, with dinner at the venue in the evening.

The welcome dinner at the venue

At Glamping Tago the kitchen is vegetarian and cooks for the whole group. A dinner buffet on the evenings around the wedding costs 37 GEL per guest, an arrival snack 25 GEL, and a full Mountain Supra 85 GEL per guest (the Adjarian supra menu shows what goes on the table). Meat comes from a BBQ live station at 45 GEL per guest, cooked for the whole group, or meat khinkali on the supra at 15 GEL per guest. Children under 6 eat free and children from 6 to 12 pay half.

Couples can bring their own wine and chacha: corkage is 15 GEL per bottle, and the team can collect the drinks in Batumi. Live music for the first evening starts at 800 GEL for two Georgian musicians, or 900 GEL plus 50 GEL transfer for an Adjarian folk trio with panduri.

A winery stop on the Batumi to Khulo road

Two family wineries sit right by the road up: each adds less than 1.5 km to the drive.

Chateau Iveri in Varjanisi (Keda) is 50 km from Batumi, with vineyards at 500 m. A tasting with a wine tour, four wines and a snack board costs 50 GEL per person for 2 to 10 people and 40 GEL per person for groups of 10 or more. It hosts Rtveli harvest events in the autumn, but its season runs from late March (it opened on 28 March in 2026) to a break that starts in late October, as its Instagram announces, so ring ahead for an April or October date.

ChkhaValley Winery is a family winery in Erge, about 10 km from Batumi, making natural wine from Chkhaveri and Tsolikouri grapes. A Georgian dinner costs 150 GEL and serves 2 to 3 people, by reservation only, and the cellar takes cash or bank transfer, no cards. Reviewers repeat the same advice: book ahead.

Makhuntseti waterfall is the classic leg-stretch on the same road, a stop that adds about 4 km to the drive. The water drops about 50 m, the walk from the car park takes five minutes, and it is open all year. An October 2026 review mentions some broken steps without a railing and a shaky footbridge, so keep older guests on the main path.

What does a bonfire night at a mountain wedding include?

At Glamping Tago the fire is lit at dusk every clear evening and is part of the stay, so a wedding gets a bonfire on every night of the weekend. The fire circle has log benches for up to 35, with benches and poufs brought round, wool blankets, hot Georgian black tea and the firewood included. Georgian wine comes on request, and the fire is supervised, so families with children are welcome.

Couples use the fire in three ways: as the relaxed end of the welcome dinner, as the place where the wedding night winds down after the dancing, and for a short closing ritual on the last evening. Our speaker with two wireless microphones is free for weddings, and the bonfire night page shows the setup.

Outside a venue, open fires in Georgia's forests follow a simple rule: the National Forestry Agency allows a bonfire in a state forest only on a prepared spot, cleared of hay, dry grass, leaves and wood for 1.5 m around the fire.

The wood-fired tent sauna with its cold plunge runs in the evenings for everyone staying, and fits 15 people at a time. A private session outside the evening hours costs 150 GEL.

Which workshops can guests do at the venue?

The best workshops for a wedding group are the ones that fill a free afternoon on site: a khachapuri class, an outdoor painting session, a herb walk or yoga. All of them run at Glamping Tago and are booked through the team, at 2026 group prices.

  • Adjarian khachapuri workshop: 1 to 2 hours with the kitchen team, 4 to 35 people, from 50 GEL per person, and everyone eats what they made. It works well on the afternoon of the arrival day.
  • Painting outdoors: a guided session, no skill needed, 4 to 15 people, from 100 GEL per person.
  • Forest and herb walk: about 2 hours of slow foraging with a local herbalist, 4 to 14 people, spring to autumn, from 300 GEL per group.
  • Jara honey tour: half a day with a sixth-generation beekeeper of wild jara honey, with a tasting and a Georgian feast at his home, 1 to 14 people, from 200 GEL per person.
  • Morning yoga: on the platform or in the 38 m2 yoga dome, all levels, included in the stay. On the wedding morning the dome is the getting-ready room, so yoga moves to the platform.

The activities page lists everything we run, with today's prices. Guests who spend a night in Batumi before travelling up can take a khachapuri class there too: Geo Mandarin runs an Adjarian khachapuri workshop with a wine tasting and dinner on Wednesdays and Saturdays for 110 GEL per person.

What can wedding guests do the day before or after the wedding?

From a venue in the Khulo mountains, the high lakes and the fortress are short trips instead of a 10-hour day from Batumi. Green Lake is a half day, Khikhani Fortress with the Shuamta lakes a full day, and the walks start at the gate. Green Lake tours are booked through the venue the evening before, once the weather is clear; Khikhani needs a border permit a week ahead.

Green Lake and the Goderdzi pass

Green Lake lies at 2,058 m, 39.9 km by road from Tago, up the Batumi-Akhaltsikhe road and then the Goderdzi-Bakhmaro road past the ski resort, and our half-day jeep tour takes 1 to 14 people from spring to autumn. The lake is spring-fed, ice-cold and up to 19.4 m deep, according to Georgia Travel. The 6.5 km road from the Goderdzi ski resort to the lake was rebuilt, with a car park at the end and an easy walk to the shore, and four-person boats take about 30 minutes around the lake. Our Green Lake guide has the full detail.

It is much colder up there than at the camp: in June days at the lake reach about 17°C with nights around 6°C, and in October days reach about 11°C and nights fall to around 0°C. Bring jackets even for a summer trip.

The Goderdzi pass at 2,025 m is not on the lake road: it is a 7.3 km detour for the view, and the Beshumi summer resort an 18.4 km add-on. Beshumi is only open from mid-June to the beginning of September, and on the first Sunday of August the Shuamtoba summer festival fills the picnic meadow on the road from the pass to Beshumi, per GoBatumi.

Khikhani Fortress, Skhalta and the Shuamta lakes

Khikhani Fortress is the big day out, for active guests only. The fortress walls stand at 2,236 m according to Georgia Travel, 36.4 km by road from Tago, and the last part is on foot: a rebuilt 1 km trail with 254 steps and 14 metal staircases, 400 to 500 m of climbing and one to three hours up, as our Khikhani guide describes. The upper track is dependable from June to mid-October.

Our Khikhani off-road day takes 8 to 10 hours: 45 minutes to an hour to Skhalta Monastery, 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 30 on to Khikhani, 2 to 3 hours for the hike, then 25 to 30 minutes to the Shuamta lakes for a 90-minute picnic. It costs from 120 GEL per person at group rates.

Skhalta Monastery lies right on the road from Tago to Khikhani, in the Skhalta valley. The church has 14th to 15th-century frescoes and an old wine cellar with a press and qvevri, and it is still an active monastery. Autumn 2026 reviews mention a locked church door and a turn that is easy to miss, so visit it with a guide or on the jeep tour rather than alone.

The Shuamta lakes lie on the summer pastures at about 2,150 m, an easy walk in, and on a hot day the water is warm enough to swim. They are a summer trip only; pack a towel.

Walks from the gate and Tago village

Five marked walks start at the camp gate, from 2 to 6 hours, easy to medium, and they are free; a guide costs from 150 GEL. The best-marked one follows yellow markers from Village Tago down to Skhalta Monastery: 8.4 km one way with 607 m of descent, as described in our hiking guide.

The Khulo to Tago cable car, once the village's famous ride, is closed for repair with no reopening date, so do not put it on the guest programme. Our Tago village guide has the story of the line.

Canyoning in Uchkho

For a group of adventurous friends, the Uchkho canyon in Khulo municipality offers a full day of canyoning: about six hours, abseiling down the waterfalls with certified guides and all the equipment provided, for 4 to 15 people. The canyon starts at 1,300 m and drops 550 m over 12 cascades, as Georgia Travel describes it. It costs 415 to 1,125 GEL depending on group size; book it through the tours page.

Horse riding can sometimes be arranged on request, but it is never a confirmed activity, so leave it off the printed programme.

What does the day-after brunch look like?

At Glamping Tago the day after starts with the breakfast buffet at 32 GEL per guest, and when the camp is yours, check-out is flexible, so nobody has to rush breakfast. There is no separate brunch menu. Morning yoga on the grass is included, and many groups add a half-day trip before the drive down.

The menu covers most diets: of 17 dishes, 9 are gluten-free and 8 vegan, and allergies are handled with notice. Guests who want a last lunch before an evening flight can stop at a winery on the way down instead of eating at camp. For guests who need to work or send photos home, Starlink Wi-Fi runs at about 300 Mbps.

What do guest activities cost in 2026?

How do wedding guests get up from Batumi?

The simplest way is our guest minibuses: two 15-seat minibuses from Batumi airport cost 410 GEL each one way, about 27 GEL per guest, and take about 2 hours. The road runs 87 km from the airport to the camp, along the Batumi to Akhaltsikhe road through Keda to Khulo, then up the mountain road to Tago. Our wedding guest transport guide covers every option in detail.

Big coaches stop in Khulo, where our minibuses take the last stretch for 135 GEL each. Guests who travel on their own take the marshrutka from Batumi bus station to Khulo, about every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 20:00, about 2 hours 30 and about 10 GEL, then a 4x4 taxi up to the camp for 75 GEL per car for up to 4 people, 30 to 35 minutes. The full directions are on how to get to Glamping Tago.

What is the weather like for a wedding weekend, month by month?

The camp is open from 1 April to the end of October. Days are warm from June to September and nights are cool in every month, and it rains on 11 to 16 days a month, so every plan needs a rain option: the event tent's walls close and the ceremony moves under the tent or into the yurt.

How do you plan the guest programme: what to book and when?

Plan the programme in this order, because each step depends on the one before.

  1. Book the venue 6 to 12 months ahead for a date from June to September. A 30% prepayment confirms a wedding date; you pay in lari by bank transfer or a payment link.
  2. Choose the format of each evening: welcome dinner on site or a winery stop on the way, supra or buffet for the wedding, and whether you want live music on the first night.
  3. Send guests the agenda early, with the optional activities and their prices, and collect sign-ups.
  4. Book transport for the arrival and departure times once flights are known.
  5. Send the programme to the venue 30 days before the wedding, with workshops, tours and the timing of each day.
  6. Confirm the food headcount 7 days before, and for a Khikhani day send every guest's passport scan for the border permit at the same time.
  7. Book the Green Lake jeep tour the evening before, once the weather is clear.
  8. Settle the extras on site: what you use over the weekend is paid in cash or by transfer against an itemized invoice.

For the full wedding setup at the venue, see the wedding organizer information and our guide to a 30-guest glamping wedding weekend.

A mountain wedding weekend at Glamping Tago

We are Jonas and Lisa, a Belgian couple who fell in love with Georgia and opened Glamping Tago in 2021. The camp is made for weddings of about 30 guests: one wedding books the whole place, everyone sleeps on site, and the weekend runs from the welcome dinner to the last breakfast without anyone needing a taxi at night.

The bonfire, the evening sauna and morning yoga are part of the stay. Our kitchen cooks the welcome dinner, the supra and the breakfast after, and our team books the workshops and jeep tours for your guests. See the wedding page or the organizer information for the full setup.

Questions people ask

Is the Khulo to Tago cable car running in 2026?

No. The Khulo-Tago cable car is closed for repair and has no reopening date. Guests reach the camp by our minibuses from Batumi airport or by 4x4 taxi from Khulo, 75 GEL per car for up to 4 people, 30 to 35 minutes.

Do wedding guests need a permit to visit Khikhani Fortress?

Yes. Khikhani lies in the border zone on the Turkish frontier, so the group needs a free Border Police permit: the application with the route and every guest's scanned passport goes in about a week ahead, and guests carry that passport on the day. The last 1 km is a steep trail with 400 to 500 m of climbing, so it suits active guests only.

Is it cold at night for the bonfire?

Yes, even in summer. At about 1,200 m nights at the camp fall to 11-13°C in June and 5-8°C in October. Wool blankets and hot tea come with the fire, but guests should pack a warm jacket and a hat.

Can wedding guests eat meat at a vegetarian venue?

Yes. The kitchen at Glamping Tago is vegetarian, and meat comes from a BBQ live station at 45 GEL per guest, cooked for the whole group, or meat khinkali on the supra at 15 GEL per guest. Vegan, gluten-free and allergy needs are handled with notice.

Where do guests sleep if there are more than 33 of us?

33 guests sleep in the camp itself. Bigger weddings, up to about 100 guests, work with the family guesthouses in Tago village, and the team arranges those beds for you.

Can we bring our own wine to the welcome dinner?

Yes. Corkage is 15 GEL per bottle for your own wine or spirits, and the team can collect the drinks in Batumi so nobody has to carry them up the mountain.

How far ahead should we book the guest activities?

Book the venue 6 to 12 months ahead for a June to September date. Send the programme with workshops and tours 30 days before the wedding and the food headcount 7 days before, together with passport scans for a Khikhani day. Green Lake jeep tours are confirmed the evening before, once the weather is clear.

Can guests go horse riding on the day after the wedding?

Only sometimes, on request. Horse riding is never a confirmed activity at Glamping Tago, so plan Green Lake, a workshop or a walk from the gate and treat horses as a bonus if they happen.
