A glamping wedding is not a ceremony with a tent in the photograph. It is a weekend where everyone sleeps, eats and celebrates in one place. Here is exactly how it runs at Glamping Tago in the Adjara mountains: the beds, the 2026 prices, the Friday to Sunday timeline, the food, the legal steps and the rain plan.

A glamping wedding weekend is a wedding where the venue is also the hotel. The ceremony, the dinner, the party and every guest's bed sit inside one fence, and the celebration runs for two or three days instead of one evening. In Georgia the country, that means buying out a built camp.

This guide is written from the inside of one. Glamping Tago sits at 1,200 m on the ridge above Village Tago in Khulo municipality, mountainous Adjara, 92 km and about two and a half hours from Batumi. Below you will find where 40, 60 or 100 guests actually sleep, the 2026 prices, the Friday to Sunday timeline, the food, the vendor rates, the legal steps and the rain plan, with an honest comparison against the hotels and estates couples look at instead.

The difference is beds and hours. A restaurant or banquet hall sells you an evening, and your guests then drive somewhere else to sleep. A glamping wedding weekend sells you the whole place for two or three nights, so the ceremony, the dinner, the fire and breakfast the next morning all happen where people are already sleeping.

That changes the supplier list more than anything else. A fully serviced venue needs 4 to 6 suppliers. A marquee in a bare field needs 12 to 15: the marquee, flooring, lighting, a generator, toilets, furniture, catering, a bar, heating, waste, entertainment and transport. A built camp sits at the serviced end, because the structures, the beds, the kitchen, the water and the power are already in the ground.

The gain that the tent-hire trade names itself is time: several days with your guests, no taxi queue, nobody leaving at ten, and helpers already on site the morning after. The loss they name in the same breath is the weather, and the fact that anything a hotel would simply hand you has to be arranged in advance. That is a fair summary of a camp wedding, from the people who rent the tents.

Two built camps in Adjara sell a wedding weekend with the beds included, and both sit in the mountains behind Batumi rather than on the coast. Glamping Tago is bought out whole for the weekend; Eco House Merisi is glass cottages with a cliff-edge ceremony platform. Near Tbilisi, Jewelberry Glamping is the only other real glamping venue in the country, and ten domes cap it at about 40 people sleeping.

Glamping Tago, Village Tago (Khulo, Adjara)

• Where: the ridge above Village Tago, Khulo municipality, at 1,200 m
• Drive from Batumi: 92 km, about 2.5 hours: 85 km of asphalt as far as Khulo, then 9 km of 4x4 mountain road
• Capacity: up to 100 guests seated for the ceremony and the dinner; 33 beds on site and 97 within a ten minute walk
• Price from: 3,258 GEL a night for the whole camp in April, 6,035 in July and August
• Season: 1 April to the end of October, with the wedding season from May to mid-October
• Good for: a two or three night buyout where nobody drives home afterwards
• Watch out for: no bathrooms inside the tents, cold nights even in August, and a road that big coaches cannot climb

There are three ceremony spots on and around the camp: the meadow facing the mountains, the forest clearing on the valley overlook, and Otsinari lake, about half an hour's drive up the mountain for a couple who want the vows away from the camp.

Eco House Merisi, Merisi (Keda, Adjara)

• Where: the Merisi side valley above Keda, in lower Adjara
• Drive from Batumi: 48 km up the Keda and Merisi valley road, about 70 minutes
• Capacity: a 50 m2 open ceremony platform on the cliff edge and a covered panoramic space of about 100 m2 as the weather plan
• Good for: a smaller mountain wedding in glass cottages, an hour from the coast
• Watch out for: the Merisi valley is a separate trip and not a stop on the Batumi to Khulo road, and the cottage count sets the real guest limit

Jewelberry Glamping, Shuaguli (near Mtskheta)

• Where: Shuaguli park, 9 km from Mtskheta and about 30 minutes from Tbilisi
• Capacity: ten geodesic domes of 28 and 38 m2, each with its own toilet, shower, kitchen corner and grill zone, for up to 4 guests, so 40 people sleep on site; a separate large dome holds 50 for a party
• Good for: a celebration for a small party that wants a pool, a sauna and a short drive from the capital; the whole glamping can be booked for a programme of several days
• Watch out for: a wedding party of more than 40 cannot all sleep there

The Adjara places that are not wedding venues

Two more glamping sites sit on the lower Adjara road, and both sell rooms by the night rather than a whole-property wedding. Hill Inn in Dandalo, 59 km and about 80 minutes from Batumi, has tents and tree houses, a home cinema, a bonfire amphitheatre, a forest spa with a sauna and an outdoor bath, and an outdoor pool. Ajara Glamping at Kokotauri is 53 km and about an hour from Batumi.

In three rings, and the bed count is the number to settle before anything else. The camp itself sleeps 33: twelve Lotus Belle tents for two people each, with a wood stove, a gas heater, electricity, linen and towels, plus a nine-bed dormitory dome with single cabins and a glass roof on the top tier. Seven families in Village Tago keep 27 rooms with 64 beds at 150 GEL a room a night, three to ten minutes on foot below the camp. About 60 camping spots fill the gap between the two. That is 97 real beds under a roof for a guest list of up to 100.

The village houses are held as one block and the allocation list goes to whoever is organising the wedding, so nobody has to book seven guesthouses separately. Bathrooms there are usually shared, every house has a balcony or a terrace, and guests sleeping in the village use everything at the camp: morning yoga, the sauna, the campfire, the bar and the restaurant. Everyone eats together up at the camp.

The largest group the camp has hosted is 120 people, using the village houses plus an extra tent bought for that season. The weddings on our own wedding page have run smaller: 17 guests in August 2025, 24 in August 2025, 27 over 25 and 26 July 2026, 35 over 3 to 7 September 2025, and an alcohol-free family wedding for 38 guests including ten children on 6 and 7 September 2026.

The guests who should not sleep in a tent

Some people will be happier in a hotel room with its own bathroom, and it is kinder to decide that for them in advance than to let them discover it at midnight. There are no bathrooms inside the tents: the camp has two bathhouses with four hot showers and four toilets between them, two hair dryers, and an iron or steamer on request. There are no baby high chairs.

Guest House Welcome sits a few hundred metres below the camp in Tago itself and the family cooks. Nine kilometres down in Khulo there are four small hotels with private bathrooms, and one full-service hotel sits up on the Goderdzi pass.

The camp is priced as a place, not per tent. One wedding at a time, the camp closed to other guests, and the privatisation and the event tent are already inside the nightly price. Food, decor, music and transfers are quoted on top.

2026 prices

Tablecloths, linen napkins, plates, cutlery, glasses, tea lights, three kinds of candle holder, lanterns, haystacks, the wooden photo frame and the welcome board cost nothing. The team builds the light poles and you bring plug-in string lights. Whatever decor you buy, the camp buys back at half price afterwards, and the planner's team eats free for the whole stay.

What a real weekend adds up to

Here is a two-night September weekend for 60 guests, built line by line from the table above. It is the shape most couples end up with.

Built from exactly the same lines, the weekend comes to about 33,500 GEL for 40 guests in May and about 65,000 GEL for 100 guests in September. At 100 guests the village block is full at 64 beds, so the last few people take a camping spot or a room down in Khulo. None of those figures include the dress, the rings, the flights or the cake. For scale outside the camp, Matilda Events puts a Georgian destination wedding at 6,000 to 10,000 EUR for 15 to 25 guests, 12,000 to 22,000 EUR for 40 to 60, and 25,000 to 45,000 EUR and up for 80 to 120.

Most couples arrive two or three days before the wedding day, and at least two nights is the sensible minimum: one to arrive and set up, one for the wedding itself. This is how the wedding day runs at the camp.

Two rules make that timeline hold. Leave about 30 minutes between blocks, because the same team has to turn the event tent from a ceremony room into a dining room. And put the photographs in golden hour rather than during dinner, which at this altitude means the hour before the light goes behind the ridge.

This is where a built camp earns its price. Everything in the left column below is on site and included in the buyout; everything in the right column is what the same wedding would cost you to truck into an empty meadow.

Be equally clear about what is not there. The camp has no high-power generator, no stage, no event lighting rig and no baby high chairs, so a big dance-floor set-up or a stage show is hired in and its transport up the valley is part of the quote. The free speaker carries a ceremony, the speeches and dinner music; it is not a dance floor.

The kitchen is fully vegetarian and cooks fresh each morning, and it feeds a hundred people from a yurt. Meat is possible, but as a whole-group decision rather than a plate-by-plate one.

Yurtalicious, the yurt restaurant, seats 36 inside and 20 outside around a wood stove, which makes it the warm room when the weather turns. Breakfast runs 09:00 to 11:00 at 32 GEL, dinner 19:00 to 21:00 at 37 GEL, and the wedding menus are the three in the price table. Local women cook, and guests are asked not to bring their own food or drink.

For meat you have four ways to do it: a BBQ live station at 45 GEL a guest cooked for the whole group, meat khinkali on the supra at 15 GEL a guest, your own mangal set-up at 20 GEL where you bring the meat, or a dinner down in a village guesthouse for the part of the group that wants meat and the local table. Groups routinely move the barbecue to lunch, and it can be done without pork.

Drinks are the other lever. Bring your own wine or spirits at 15 GEL a bottle corkage, with five-litre bottles counted per litre, or buy from the menu with a 10% wedding discount. Not every wedding here drinks at all: one real wedding at the camp ran entirely on lemonade, compote, tea and coffee, with ten children among the 38 guests, and the kitchen plans the whole menu around it.

The cake is ordered down in Batumi and the camp kitchen adds fruit and the final touches on the day. Dona Bakeshop in the centre is the kind of patisserie couples use.

These are the approximate rates in the camp's vendor guide, which you get once you book, including the trip up the valley where noted; you agree the final price with each vendor and pay them directly. The market numbers next to them are what Georgian agencies publish, so you can see where a mountain job sits.

Videography is worth reading in detail because the packages are unusually clear: five hours with a clip up to three minutes is 650 USD, eight hours with a film up to five minutes 980 USD, ten hours with a 7 to 10 minute film and a teaser 1,500 USD, and two operators 2,000 USD.

Flowers are seasonal here in a way that matters. Local women pick flowers and greens from the village gardens and the forest, so the palette follows the month. Early August has very few, and they have to be brought up or ordered from Batumi.

You have three ways to run the planning. Venue only is free: you or your own planner book and coordinate the vendors, and once you book you get the camp's vendor guide, with vetted vendors for every service, mostly based in Batumi, their contacts and approximate prices; you agree the price and pay each vendor directly, and their transport up to the camp is usually extra. Or use the camp's partner planner, Iremi Wedding, who charge their own fee of usually 10 to 15% of the wedding budget, work in Russian and English, and cost nothing extra from the camp. Or ask the camp to coordinate it all for a fixed 2,000 GEL: we contact, book and manage every vendor, build the timeline and schedule, take as many planning calls as you need and run the day on site. Whichever you choose, our venue team runs the camp on the day: rooms, food and kitchen timing, the tent changeover and one contact on site.

Batumi is the gateway, not Tbilisi. The road is 92 km and about two and a half hours: 85 km of asphalt as far as Khulo, then 9 km of mountain road that needs a 4x4 car or a minibus. Our own directions page gives 2h30 for the private 4x4 from Batumi straight to the camp, and 30 to 35 minutes for the last stretch from Khulo. A big coach cannot make the last climb. The standard solution for a large wedding is your own coach as far as Khulo and the camp's 4x4 cars and minibuses from there.

Transfers are paid in cash at the camp reception and never to the driver. Pool your vendors into one car: the DJ, the host and the photographer in a single vehicle is 530 GEL for the round trip instead of three fares.

Three things every driver coming under their own steam needs to know. Use Maps.me for the last stretch and follow the wooden "Glamping Tago" signs, because other maps send cars the wrong way here, and Chao is a different village: it is 1.6 km west of us but 13 km and about 20 minutes away by road. With a 4x4 you park at the top of the camp by the sign; without one, park anywhere in Khulo centre and take the camp's taxi up for 75 GEL. And there is a second, easier way in for a normal car or a minibus: turn off the Batumi to Akhaltsikhe road at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, and follow the Skhalta valley south through Cheri and Dzmagula, 94 km and about two hours from Batumi in total. It is a little longer than going through Khulo and the road is kinder.

For the airport leg, CITYBUS Georgia charges 1,500 GEL a day for a local charter with driver, fuel, up to 250 km, parking and water, VAT included, and 200 GEL for each extra 50 km; driver accommodation is on you. Its Batumi office is at the central railway station.

Guests flying in from Europe generally come through Kutaisi, because Batumi airport has only one direct western European route, Riga with airBaltic, alongside Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Dubai, the Gulf, Central Asia and Tbilisi. Wizz Air flies into Kutaisi from Warsaw, Katowice, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Budapest, Berlin, Dortmund, Memmingen, Milan, Rome, London and Prague among others. Kutaisi airport to Batumi is 123 km and about two hours, and three bus companies run from the arrivals hall around the clock: Georgian Bus, Omni Bus and Metro Georgia.

Yes, and it is one of the easiest legal weddings in the region. Two foreigners can marry in Georgia with no residency requirement, no minimum stay and no waiting period, and a couple with clean documents files and signs on the same day, in about three hours. There are two routes.

The registrar comes to you for 255 GEL per wedding, arranged through the camp, and signs the marriage at the venue. Or you go down to the Public Service Hall branch in Khulo township at N5b Queen Tamar Street, 9 km and about 30 minutes below the camp, so nobody drives back to the coast for the paperwork. Registration at the counter is free there, and a ceremonial registration is 75 GEL, the same rate as in a Tbilisi branch. Our own guide for foreign couples walks through the whole day.

What you need, per the State Services Development Agency: valid passports, proof of legal entry into Georgia, and two legally capable adult witnesses. Both people file a joint written application and both must attend in person, and nobody can send a representative. A foreign passport needs no Georgian translation if the personal data is in Latin transliteration; any other foreign document needs an apostille or legalisation with a notarised Georgian translation. The minimum age is 18.

The certificate is issued in Georgian. The apostille that makes it valid abroad costs 30 GEL by the eighth working day, 60 GEL by the fourth, 120 GEL by the second and 150 GEL the same day, and it is recognised in about 130 countries; the eleven Minsk Convention countries need none. Two rules catch couples out: a translation has to be made and notarised inside Georgia, and a divorce decree issued abroad must be apostilled in the country that issued it, which takes 5 to 30 days, so start it 60 to 90 days before the date. If you would rather hand the whole legal side to somebody, Georgia Assistant charges 990 USD for on-site registration including translations, notarisation, witnesses and the ceremony, and Iremi Wedding sells a basic legal package at 390 EUR.

One new rule changes the invitation. Since 1 January 2026, government decree No. 602 requires every incoming tourist to hold health and accident insurance with a sum insured of at least 30,000 GEL, valid for every single day of the stay, and it is checked at every land and air border including Batumi, Kutaisi and Tbilisi. A policy that covers fewer days than the stay, or a gap between two policies, counts as non-compliance. It is an entry rule and has nothing to do with marrying. A compliant policy starts at about 2 GEL a day from Georgian insurers and about 3.50 USD a day is the usual price, infants are included, and entry can be refused without it.

The useful part for a wedding: one person can buy the policies for the whole guest list. A Georgian insurer's mandatory tourist policy can be bought by the traveller or by any person or company arranging a group of visitors, so the couple can cover 60 guests in one purchase. A PDF, a printout or a digital border card is accepted, in Georgian or English, and buying at the checkpoint is dearer than buying online. The exemptions are narrow: diplomats and consular staff on assignment, international-organisation staff on mission, travellers covered by a bilateral treaty, international freight and passenger drivers, and transit passengers who stay airside.

Tell your guests three more things. Bring cash: the village rooms and the transfers are paid in cash, and the nearest machine is the Bank of Georgia ATM at the Khulo service centre on Abashidze Street, 9 km below. Bring a warm layer, because nights are cold even in August. And bring anything medical they actually need, because the pharmacies and the clinic are also down in Khulo.

The nearest clinic is the Khulo clinic on Khimshiashvili Street, 9 km and about 30 minutes below the camp, and there is a second pharmacy, Pharmadepot, in the same town.

September and early October are the best weeks, and August is the driest and clearest. The camp is open 1 April to the end of October and closed from November to March, when there can be three metres of snow. The wedding season runs May to mid-October.

Temperatures are the daily averages Weather Spark publishes for Khulo, where the warm season runs 5 June to 21 September and the clearer half of the year 8 June to 25 September. August is the clearest month, with a sky that is clear, mostly clear or partly cloudy 91% of the time. The rain days are the days with at least 1 mm that Weather and Climate counts, and they never drop below nine in any wedding month, so a covered plan is not optional at any date. Tago sits about 300 m above Khulo, so take a degree or two off the nights.

The plan itself is simple. The event tent has walls 2.4 m high and sides that close, and it stands on a wooden deck, so it is dry and the ground under it stays dry. The yurt takes 36 people inside around a wood stove. The ceremony can move under the sailcloth. Tents are heated with a wood stove and a gas heater, and the sauna is lit every evening.

It is usually cheaper per guest for a weekend, and more expensive than a single evening in a restaurant. The honest comparison is not the sticker price but the seats-to-beds ratio, because that decides whether you are also paying for hotels, shuttles and a second venue.

Three of those venues carry a warning rather than a recommendation. Chateau Mukhrani seats 600 people and sleeps none of them, and its reviews from August and September 2026 repeat a rushed tour, a restaurant that turns guests away and a phone nobody answers. Vazisubani Estate seats up to 200 in 19 rooms, and recent reviews report bathrooms that flood and plumbing that does not work, one of them from a guest at a wedding there. Porta Caucasia is on paper the fair mountain comparison, and four one-star reviews in August 2026 describe rooms never cleaned over a five-night stay.

Against a restaurant wedding at home, the Georgian numbers for 2026 are these: a restaurant supra starts at 120 GEL a guest, minimal restaurant decor with the couple's table about 1,500 GEL, a 100-slice cake about 900 GEL and a full day of photo and video 1,800 GEL. Rings, dress, hair and make-up, cake, the signing, a photographer and a 100-seat supra together average more than 26,000 GEL, with restaurant prices about 10% up on the year. A wedding dinner in the Tbilisi agency market runs 40 to 150 USD a guest.

Two more things move the price in your favour. High season, May to June and September to October, carries a 20 to 30% premium on venues and popular vendors, and a Friday or a Sunday runs 10 to 20% cheaper than a Saturday. And a venue in Georgia normally owns no professional sound or light rig and no technicians, so the line you see at a hotel is not the line you actually pay.

Book at least three months out, and 6 to 12 months for June to September. Georgian venues and popular vendors go 6 to 8 months ahead, and a guest room block is normally secured 4 to 6 months out.

1. Pick the date and hold the camp. A 30% prepayment of the total confirms the date. It is non-refundable and it counts towards the minimum spend rather than on top of it. Site visits are welcome at weekends, and there is a live video walk-through if you cannot come.
2. Decide the format, because it drives everything else: number of nights, guest count, and whether you book the vendors yourself or with your own planner, plan with Iremi Wedding, or have the camp coordinate it all for 2,000 GEL.
3. Book the vendors who travel: host, DJ, sound, photography and video. Pool them into one car.
4. Block the village rooms and the Khulo hotel rooms for the guests who need a private bathroom.
5. Arrange the legal side: the registrar at the camp for 255 GEL, or the Khulo Public Service Hall.
6. Send the programme and timeline, the vendor list and the mood board 30 days before arrival.
7. Confirm the final food count in writing 7 days before, with the rooming list. That count becomes the invoice.
8. In the same week, confirm the menu, the drinks order and bar tab, the cake size and the address where the alcohol is collected.
9. A few days before, send arrival times and pick-up addresses for every guest.

Anastasia, the camp's events and groups manager, answers wedding dates within 24 hours on +995 599 29 97 57 and sets up a video call to walk you through the spaces. A shared WhatsApp group with your planner and the camp team is the working channel from booking to the day itself.

The terms are worth reading once. A wedding books the whole camp: there is no partial booking and the number of tents cannot be reduced later, because the price is for the place and not per tent. The food headcount can move until 7 days before. The balance is invoiced before arrival, and meals and transfers are invoiced separately. Payment is by bank transfer in GEL, a 24-hour payment link with no commission, or a company invoice in GEL or EUR. Russian Visa, Mastercard and Mir cards do not work in Georgia, so plan a transfer or cash.

• Sending a coach all the way up. It cannot climb the last 9 km. Coach to Khulo, then the camp's 4x4 cars and minibuses.
• Booking the weekend of Shuamtoba. Shuamtoba, the highland festival at Beshumi above Khulo, fell on Sunday 2 August in 2026, and the roads to it climb through Khulo. Summer traffic and fog on that road are bad enough on an ordinary day. Pick another weekend.
• Trusting a Khulo forecast. Tago is about 300 m higher and behind a ridge.
• Planning a big light and dance rig without pricing the transport. The camp has no high-power generator and no lighting rig, so both the kit and its journey up the valley are on the quote.
• Ordering a cake that will not fit. The freezer door is 60 by 50 cm.
• Assuming early August means flowers. It is the month with the fewest, and they come up from Batumi.
• Letting guests arrive on the marshrutka on the wedding day. From Batumi they leave every 30 minutes between 08:00 and 20:00, from the old bus station yard at 1 Mayakovsky Street and not the new terminal; coming back down from Khulo the vans go when they fill up and the fare is not fixed.
• Forgetting that the music stops outside at midnight. After that the party moves into the yurt, which is the point: the tents have to sleep.
• Bringing no cash. Transfers and village rooms are cash, and the nearest ATM is 9 km down.

Quite a lot, which is the argument for the third night. Morning yoga and the evening campfire come with every stay, and the activities list prices the wood-fired sauna with a cold plunge from 300 GEL a group, a guided forest and herb walk from 50 GEL a person, a movie night on the panoramic platform from 5 GEL a person, and an Adjaruli khachapuri workshop with the kitchen team.

For a day out, the camp's own jeep trips take 1 to 14 people a car. Green Lake over the Goderdzi pass is 39.9 km and about an hour from the camp, climbing to just over 2,000 m, and works as a half day; our Green Lake guide has the detail. A jara honey tasting at a sixth-generation beekeeper's table is another half day. Ghorjomi with its wooden mosque, watermill and village bakery, and the Uchkho canyon with its ten waterfalls and certified guides, are full days.

Beshumi, the highland meadow resort at 1,850 to 2,000 m, is 44.9 km and about an hour from the camp. It is not on the Green Lake road: adding it costs another 18.4 km and 30 minutes, so treat it as its own trip up the same valley.

One thing worth building into the programme, whatever else you do: Georgian polyphonic singing has been on the UNESCO intangible heritage list since 2008, and it is a secular tradition, which is exactly why it belongs at a supra. The trio the camp books sings Mravalzhamier and Suliko, and guests ask for both by name.
