How to get to Tago
Book a 4x4 taxiThe best views are reserved for those who embrace the road to get there.
Reach Khulo
Most guests come via Batumi. A marshrutka (minibus) leaves Batumi bus station every 30 minutes, 08:00-20:00. It takes about 2h30 and costs about 10 GEL. The sign in the window says ბათუმი - ხულო.

Driving? Khulo to Tago needs a jeep (4x4).
A normal car won't make it up the last road. Rental "jeeps" are not always 4x4, so check yours. No 4x4? Park anywhere in Khulo centre and take our taxi (75 GEL per car).
Chao is not Tago. Chao is a different village, 1.6 km west of us but 13 km and about 20 minutes away by road. If your map sends you to Chao, you are in the wrong village.

The road over the Goderdzi pass is asphalt almost all the way. A few kilometres near Bodzauri were still unfinished in summer 2026, and a normal car handles them in dry weather. In winter the pass closes in snow, so call the road department before you go.
Driving yourself
- Get the app, open our Tago pin and tap "Route to".
- Follow the wooden "Glamping Tago" signs. Where Maps.me is wrong, there is always a sign.
- The Tago road starts a little before Khulo: down to the river, over the iron bridge, then up the zigzag road. 20-35 minutes.
- With a 4x4 you can park at the camp. Without one, park anywhere in Khulo centre and take our taxi.
The Skhalta valley way (easier road)
On the Batumi - Akhaltsikhe road, 4.7 km before Khulo. From there you follow the Skhalta valley south.
In Cheri take the road uphill, before you reach Skhalta monastery.
The road climbs through Dzmagula and Samtsukhi to us.
This way is a little longer than going through Khulo, but the road is easier, so it suits normal cars and minibuses. It is still a mountain road: drive it slowly, and message us if you are not sure.
Scenic mountain ways (for the adventurous)
Drive to Akhaltsikhe, then over the pass down to Khulo and up to us. Asphalt almost the whole way, summer only.
Baghdati, over Zekari (2,182 m) to Abastumani, then Akhaltsikhe and the Goderdzi pass. Open about mid-June to October.
Instead of dropping down to Khulo, stay high, pass the lakes, and come down the next valley past Skhalta monastery.
- You can combine the two: come in over Goderdzi, and leave towards Kutaisi over Zekari.
- Zekari: the Baghdati side is asphalt since November 2025, and the new road runs via Kakaskhidi, not via Sairme. The descent to Abastumani is still rough gravel and needs a high-clearance 4x4; asphalt is expected in 2027.
- No fuel and long stretches with no phone signal on both. Fill up in Kutaisi, Baghdati, Akhaltsikhe or Khulo, download the offline map, and tell us when you set off.
These are the beautiful ways in, not the quick ones. If in doubt, come via Batumi and Khulo.
