A women's retreat in Georgia (the country) works best at a venue your group can book whole, in a region with a short, daylight drive from the airport and a 24-hour clinic within reach. This guide is for facilitators who run their own retreat: which venues give a women's group real privacy, what the official safety advice says, how to move the group, what a doctor checks before you go, what to put in the programme and what it all costs in 2026.

Which venue fits a women's retreat in Georgia?

Choose a place where the whole venue belongs to your group and everyone sleeps on site: no strangers at breakfast, no other party at night. In Georgia only a few venues offer that, and the table shows which.

A women-only group has two needs a mixed group often does not: privacy (no men from another party wandering through a circle or a sauna session) and a host who keeps the group's rules, such as a silence day. Both are easiest at a small venue booked whole.

Is Georgia safe for a women-only retreat?

Yes. Georgia is a common choice for women travelling alone and in groups, and the official advice asks for ordinary city care rather than special measures. TravelLadies rates it 4.5 out of 5 for solo women, 40th of 100 countries, from 64 reports by women travellers.

The official advice is specific. The Government of Canada says women travelling alone may face some harassment or verbal abuse and advises never leaving food or drinks unattended. The UK Foreign Office warns of drink spiking, tells travellers to buy their own drinks and keep sight of them, and advises against flagging taxis in the street.

What foreign women report matches that. Georgia Expats names staring as the most common complaint, with catcalling mostly verbal, and rural Georgia as physically very safe with more conservative social norms. In the villages a group of women draws curiosity, not hostility. In monasteries women cover arms, legs and head, and scarves are usually lent at the entrance.

A private venue removes most of these risks at once: there is no bar crowd, no stranger on site and no street taxi, because the group arrives in a pre-booked vehicle and stays in one place.

Which venues in Adjara let a women's group be alone?

Adjara, in the south-west, is the region the usual retreat lists leave out, and for a women's group it has real advantages: the mountain venues below are about 50 to 87 km from Batumi, summers in the mountains are cooler and greener than in Kakheti or Tbilisi, and there are few tourists. The honest cons: the last stretch to some venues is a 4x4 road, rain is common, and it is a long way from Tbilisi.

Glamping Tago (our venue), Khulo, Adjara

  • Where: on a ridge above Village Tago, Khulo municipality, at about 1,200 m
  • From the airport: 87 km from Batumi airport, about 2 to 2.5 hours
  • Capacity: whole camp for 12 to 33 people, 33 beds on site (12 Lotus tents for two and the 9-bed Half Dome dorm)
  • Price from (2026, group rates): whole camp from 1,962 GEL a night in April up to 4,488 GEL in July and August; full board 100 GEL per person per day
  • Season: 1 April to the end of October

When you book the whole camp, no other guests are on site. If your group books only part of it, another small group or individual guests can stay alongside and the yoga spaces are shared by time slot, so book the whole camp if privacy matters. For a 16-woman group in August 2026 the 9-bed Half Dome dorm was set up as a women-only room next to seven Lotus tents, and in a mixed group we match the dorm by gender where we can.

Women's groups already use the place this way. In May 2026, 13 women from Slovakia spent 7 nights here with yoga every morning at 9, outdoor painting, a khachapuri class, a trip to a honey farm and a full-day hike to a mountain lake (case study). In June, 6 women came for a yoga retreat with a psychologist and a Reiki master (retreats at Glamping Tago). In August a yoga teacher from Kazakhstan brought 16 women for 4 days with a silence day (case study).

Sessions run on the big platform (138 m2 of wooden floor under a sailcloth roof, open on three sides, sides roll down in rain, room for 50+ on mats) or in the indoor yoga dome (38 m2, glass front, wood stove, 10 to 12 people). Mats, blocks, straps and cushions are in both; a projector, screen, speaker and microphone are available. Meals are three vegetarian buffets a day in Yurtalicious, the yurt restaurant on site, and the evening sauna is free for staying guests.

Eco House Merisi, Keda, Adjara

  • Where: Silibauri, Keda municipality, about 50 km from Batumi by road
  • Capacity: glass-walled cottages, almost all with one king bed; restaurant hall up to 50
  • Price from (2026): full hotel buyout priced individually; group transfer from Batumi 20 GEL per person
  • Rules: 100% prepayment, non-refundable; no children under 12

The cottages with glass bedrooms are built for two, and the group is only alone with a full buyout. Because most cottages have one king bed, a group of friends sharing rooms needs to check the layout before booking. It has an open-air deck of about 50 m2 and a covered space of about 100 m2.

Also named for Adjara: Chateau Milisi and Gomarduli

Chateau Milisi is a 4-star hotel with a wine cellar in Milisi village, Keda, and hosted the women's retreat "Dikaya" in May 2026. It rates 4.2 on Google from 209 reviews, and it is a hotel shared with other guests.

Which venues near Tbilisi, in Kakheti and in Kazbegi work for a women's group?

Near Tbilisi and in Kakheti the venues are bigger hotels and farms where you share the place with other guests unless you book every room. Kazbegi has the big mountain views but also the tour groups.

Kiketi Farm, near Tbilisi

  • Where: Kiketi village, 44.6 km from Tbilisi airport by road
  • Capacity: 23 rooms; Yoga House for 15 to 50, two greenhouses, a meadow and pavilions
  • Extras: restaurant, spa and horse riding

A farm hotel close to the capital, good for a short retreat with a Tbilisi flight. It is shared with other guests unless your group takes all 23 rooms, and two October 2026 reviews mention slow or unresponsive staff.

Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, Kakheti

  • Where: Napareuli, near Telavi, 105 km from Tbilisi airport by road
  • Capacity: 310 rooms in 16 buildings, indoor and outdoor pools, a spa

A large lakeside resort in wine country. It suits a group that wants a spa and comfort over privacy: you share it with a lot of other guests, and The Independent mentions slow service because of its size.

Rooms Kazbegi, Stepantsminda

The best-known hotel in Kazbegi, 170 km from Tbilisi airport. It rates 4.5 overall on Google, but reviews from the last 12 months average 3.9, with complaints about noise and late parties, tour groups and slow restaurant service. Stepantsminda sits near Gudauri and Mount Kazbegi, which the UK Foreign Office lists for altitude sickness risk.

Smaller options in Samegrelo and Imereti

Le Jardin des Zomes near Zugdidi is a small yoga centre with 5 rooms, tents and a 65 m2 zome, offered for exclusive hire on request: tents from EUR 30, double rooms EUR 50 and full board EUR 100 per person per day. It has only 5 Google reviews so far.

Sveri Adventure Camp in Imereti, 113 km from Kutaisi airport, sleeps 7 in a cottage and 30 in a tent area with shared showers: a rustic choice for a hardy group.

How do you get the group from the airport safely?

Book one vehicle for the whole group and land in daylight. For Glamping Tago, a 15-seat minibus from Batumi airport costs 410 GEL one way (about 27 GEL each when full) and takes about 2 hours over 87 km; from Kutaisi airport the same minibus costs 795 GEL and takes about 5.5 hours over 220 km via Batumi.

Minibuses take the Skhalta valley road (turn off at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, then through Cheri), which is a little longer and easier; the full route and prices are on our how to get to Glamping Tago page and in our guest transport guide. Transfers are paid in cash at reception.

For women arriving on their own before the group, the public route is simple. A marshrutka from Batumi to Khulo leaves the old bus station every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 20:00, takes about 2.5 hours and costs 10 GEL. A municipal bus also runs daily except Sunday for 6 GEL, leaving Batumi at 07:00 and 18:30 from near the Boni House of Culture, not the bus station. From Khulo a 4x4 taxi brings her up; normal taxis stop in Khulo. From Kutaisi there is no direct line: take a minibus to Batumi (timetable, every 50 minutes from 06:30 to 19:30, 15 GEL, about 3 hours) and change there.

What does a doctor check before a women's retreat in the mountains?

The essentials are insurance that covers evacuation, a clear plan for the nearest 24-hour clinic, a medication list, and screening questions for breathwork, sauna and cold water. Lisa, who runs Glamping Tago with Jonas, is a medical doctor, and these are the checks that matter at 1,200 m in Adjara.

Inside the sauna tent: a wood-burning stove and wooden benches with a mountain view
The wood-fired sauna tent takes up to 15 people at a time
  1. Insurance is an entry rule. Since 1 January 2026 every tourist needs health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL for the whole stay, from a Georgian or a foreign insurer, and airlines and border police may ask for it (Polisi, UK entry rules). Put it in your participant terms and check that each policy covers medical evacuation, because medical access is limited in remote areas.
  2. Know the emergency chain. 112 is free from any phone, 24/7, for ambulance, police and fire, and the 112 app also takes SMS and video calls; the Health Ministry hotline is 1505 (Georgia Travel). The nearest clinic to Glamping Tago is the Khulo Clinic of Georgian Clinics, 9.3 km by road and open around the clock (2GIS), with emergency doctors; the network's line is 16033. Batumi has the main hospitals. At the camp Magti has the best mobile signal and there is Starlink Wi-Fi, so tell the group which network to use for emergency calls.
  3. Collect a medication list. Ask each woman for her regular medicines with the generic names and doses. Pharmacies are common, but controlled drugs (opioids, some benzodiazepines, methylphenidate) need the original prescription (GMJ). Khulo, 8.5 km below the camp, has two pharmacies, shops and ATMs.
  4. Dogs and rabies. The CDC says rabid dogs are common in Georgia, and 4,452 people went to anti-rabies rooms in Adjara from January to August 2026, with visits peaking in July and August (Georgia Times). After any bite or scratch, wash the wound with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor straight away. The shots after a bite are free under the state programme for citizens and residents, and anyone in Georgia can get them in an emergency (BigMed), so check that each policy covers them. Tell the group not to pet village dogs.
  5. Ticks. The CDC lists Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever, which spreads by tick bite, for Georgia. Long trousers on forest walks, repellent and a tick check every evening are enough.
  6. Cold nights. Even in May nights drop to 6 to 9°C at the camp, and in October to 5 to 8°C. The tents have a wood stove and a gas heater, but each woman needs warm layers and a rain jacket.
  7. Screen for breathwork, sauna and cold plunge. Explain the intense parts of the programme before people book, ask about pregnancy and medical conditions on the booking form, and make clear that anyone may sit out an activity at any time (The Yoga Pros sets out this duty of care). The sauna fits 15 at a time (organiser guide).
  8. Altitude and water. At 1,200 m the camp sits well below the heights where altitude sickness starts. The tap water comes from the mountains and guests fill their bottles for free.

Save both of these in your emergency plan: the clinic in Khulo is the first stop, and Batumi's hospitals handle anything bigger.

What programme works for a women's group in nature?

A rhythm of morning practice, an afternoon outdoors and an evening circle works best, with one longer day trip and, if the group wants it, a silence day. These are the building blocks at Glamping Tago, with 2026 group prices.

When is the best month for a women's retreat in Georgia?

In the Adjara mountains, late May, June and September are the best months: warm days, few tourists and mild nights. Glamping Tago is open from 1 April to the end of October.

View from inside a tent over a green mountain valley and a village under a blue sky

At the camp, days usually reach about 19°C in May and 24°C in June, and 22 to 25°C in September, with nights of 11 to 13°C in June and 10 to 13°C in September. It rains on about 16 days in May and about 12 in September and October, so keep an indoor plan (the dome or the platform with the sides down) for every outdoor session. Weather apps show Khulo, a few hundred metres lower, and are a poor guide for the camp. July and August are the warmest and the most expensive months.

Book early: groups take the June to September dates 6 to 12 months ahead.

What does a women's retreat in Georgia cost in 2026?

At Glamping Tago, two women sharing a Lotus tent in September pay about 234 GEL each per day with full board (134 GEL for the bed, 100 GEL for food). For a 5-night retreat that is about 1,170 GEL per participant before the programme and transfers.

A worked example for 20 women, 5 nights in September, in 10 Lotus tents: about 23,400 GEL for beds and food, plus four minibus runs between Batumi airport and the camp (two minibuses each way, 1,640 GEL), or about 1,250 GEL per woman before activities. The organiser eats for free for the whole stay. Our cost of a 7-day retreat guide breaks this down further.

How do you plan a women's retreat in Georgia step by step?

Start 6 to 12 months ahead for June to September, hold the dates with a deposit, then work back from the fixed deadlines: tent changes free until 60 days, programme at 30 days, headcount at 14, rooming list at 7.

  1. 6 to 12 months before: choose the month and the venue, and ask for the whole venue. At Glamping Tago dates can be held for one week without payment; a 30% deposit of the total confirms them and is the non-refundable minimum. For a last-minute June to August booking, inside about 60 days, at least 50% is paid upfront.
  2. Before you open sales: write the insurance rule (30,000 GEL, the whole stay, evacuation) and the health questions into your booking form, and describe the physical parts of the programme honestly.
  3. More than 60 days before: add or remove tents freely; a full cancellation at this point costs only the deposit. See our terms.
  4. 30 days before: send the daily programme, including any silence day, sauna times and the day trip.
  5. 14 days before: confirm the final headcount in writing; the balance for accommodation is invoiced and paid before arrival, and food and extras are paid at the end of the stay. We take Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Maestro, bank transfer and cash in GEL (terms).
  6. 7 days before: send the rooming list (who sleeps where).
  7. The week before: share the arrival times so the transfers meet every flight, and send the group a packing list: warm layers, rain jacket, walking shoes, a torch.

What do first-time organisers of a women's retreat get wrong?

Glamping Tago for this

A women's retreat at Glamping Tago

We are Jonas and Lisa, a Belgian couple who fell in love with Georgia and opened Glamping Tago in 2021. The camp is made for retreats of up to about 30 people: book it whole and the ridge, the sauna, the platform and the dome belong to your group, and everyone sleeps on site.

Women's groups come to us for yoga, circles, silence days and mountain hikes. We set up the 9-bed dorm as a women-only room when you need one, pick the group up at Batumi or Kutaisi airport, and cook three vegetarian meals a day in Yurtalicious, our yurt restaurant. Questions people ask

Is Georgia safe for a group of women travelling together?

Yes. Canada and the UK ask women to take ordinary care: watch your drinks, use pre-booked or app taxis rather than street taxis, and avoid driving outside cities after dark. A group staying at a private venue with pre-booked transfers avoids most of these risks. The emergency number is 112.

Can a women's group have Glamping Tago to itself?

Yes. A whole-camp booking for 12 to 33 people means no other guests are on site. If you book only part of the camp, another small group or individual guests may stay alongside and the yoga spaces are shared by time slot.

Can we have a room just for women in a mixed group?

Yes. Besides the 12 Lotus tents for two, Glamping Tago has a 9-bed dorm that is set up as a women-only room when a group asks for it, and in a mixed group we match the dorm by gender where we can.

What insurance do retreat participants need for Georgia in 2026?

Every tourist needs health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL covering the whole stay, including arrival and departure days. It can come from a Georgian or a foreign insurer, and airlines or border police may ask for proof. Check that it also covers medical evacuation.

Where is the nearest hospital to Glamping Tago?

The Khulo Clinic of Georgian Clinics, 9.3 km by road in Khulo, is open around the clock with emergency doctors. Batumi, about 2 hours away, has the main hospitals. In an emergency call 112 from any phone.

How do we get a group from Batumi or Kutaisi airport to the camp?

Glamping Tago's 15-seat minibus costs 410 GEL one way from Batumi airport (about 2 hours) and 795 GEL from Kutaisi airport (about 5.5 hours). For up to 4 people a private 4x4 from Batumi costs 265 GEL. Transfers are paid in cash at reception.

How far ahead should we book a women's retreat in Georgia?

For June to September, 6 to 12 months ahead. At Glamping Tago dates can be held for a week without payment, a 30% deposit confirms them, and more than 60 days before arrival you can still add or remove tents.

What if our group is bigger than 33?

Glamping Tago works with family guesthouses in Village Tago, a few minutes' walk away, which add 64 beds. Everyone eats and practises together at the camp, but the group no longer all sleeps in one place.
