Yoga retreats in Georgia (the country) run mostly from April to October, in four places: the mountains of Adjara above Batumi, the Black Sea coast around Batumi, the Greater Caucasus (Kazbegi, Gudauri, Svaneti) and the Borjomi gorge. A weekend programme costs from about US$230 and a full week from about EUR 700 to US$2,900, plus flights, insurance and often the transfer.

Most retreats are weeks run by a visiting teacher or a small local organiser, so the venue, the dates and the teacher change from year to year. This guide lists what runs where, what it costs, how to get there and how to book without losing your deposit.

Which retreat base in Georgia fits you?

Pick the setting first, then the programme: a mountain camp you share with only your group, a hotel by the sea, or a high valley in the Caucasus. These are the bases with yoga programmes in 2026 and 2027.

The open programmes left in 2026 are in October, November and December, and the first 2027 dates are out for spring. The summer weeks of 2026 below show what runs every year and what it costs; their organisers publish the 2027 dates on their own pages.

Can you join a yoga retreat at Glamping Tago, or just do yoga there?

Yes to both. Every stay includes a free morning yoga session with one of our teachers, for all levels, and a few times a year a full retreat week is open to anyone who books a place.

Glamping Tago (our venue), Village Tago, Adjara

  • Where: on the hill above Village Tago, Khulo municipality, mountainous Adjara
  • From the airport: 87 km from Batumi airport; 2.5 to 3 hours with the last 8.9 km on a 4x4 road
  • Guests: 12 Lotus Belle tents and a 9-bed Half Dome dorm, 12 to 33 people on site
  • Practice spaces: a 138 m2 outdoor platform under a sailcloth tent and a 38 m2 geodesic yoga dome; mats, blocks and bolsters provided
  • Price from (2026): EUR 540 for the Digital Detox week in a dorm bed, all meals included
  • Season: 1 April to the end of October

We have hosted retreats since 2018. A group that books the whole camp has the hill to itself: the only people there are the group, the teachers and our team. Meals are vegetarian, cooked in Yurtalicious, the yurt restaurant on site, and plant-based or gluten-free menus are made on request. The evening sauna with a cold plunge and the campfire are included in every stay.

The open week this season is the Digital Detox & Mental Health Week, 26 October to 1 November 2026: six nights, 33 places, morning yoga, meditation twice a day, all meals, and phones, laptops and smartwatches locked in a safe for the week. You can come for four or five nights instead, at EUR 100 a night. A 30% prepayment holds the place and the rest is paid on arrival; cancel at least two weeks before the start for a full refund.

Teachers from abroad and from Batumi bring their own groups here every summer. Prague Yoga Collective ran two 7-day weeks in August and September 2026, with 12 yoga sessions and 3 workshops. Om Batumi, a Batumi community for yoga and spiritual practice, listed the IT Soul Camp here on 26-29 June 2026, and in 2026 we also hosted a women's group of 16, a 12-person yoga group and a meditation retreat of more than 100 people that filled the camp and the village guesthouses. Upcoming open events are on our retreats page.

Are there yoga retreats on the Black Sea coast near Batumi?

Yes. The coast is the easy option: 10 to 40 minutes from Batumi airport, warm sea from June to October, and hotels you share with other guests.

Calypso Kvariati Hotel, Kvariati

  • Where: Kvariati, on the coast south of Batumi near the Turkish border
  • From the airport: 11 km from Batumi airport
  • Programme: Where Sea Meets Mountains, 4 days and 3 nights, two yoga classes a day plus breathwork, breakfast and lunch, up to 25 people
  • Price from (2026): US$448 in a triple room, US$498 in a double, US$648 in a private room; airport transfer US$50
  • Season: several dates a year

The Where Sea Meets Mountains retreat is the cheapest full programme on the coast and has the shortest airport transfer in this guide. You stay in a 3-star family hotel with indoor and outdoor pools, and the deposit is refundable until the day before the retreat. Recent guests write about the views, the infinity pool and the family who run it.

Tsikhisdziri and Kaprovani, north of Batumi

Tsikhisdziri sits on the cliffs between Batumi and Kobuleti, 29 km from the airport. The I Am Pause women's retreat runs here in a 5-star cliff-top hotel: 7 days and 6 nights from US$1,569, a US$235 deposit, airport pickup, vegetarian or vegan breakfast and dinner and daily breathing practice, on 16-22 October and 13-19 November 2026, with free cancellation up to 22 days before arrival. The Georgian Sangha holds Zen sesshins in Tsikhisdziri too; the 1-4 October 2026 sesshin cost 300 GEL with the room and meals.

The biggest wellness hotel on these cliffs is Castello Mare, with a spa, indoor and outdoor pools and two funicular lifts down to the beach. It runs no yoga programme of its own.

Russian-speaking teachers use the coast as the first half of a longer tour. The St Petersburg Iyengar centre's September 2026 tour spent its first days at the Keriya hotel in Kaprovani, on the Guria coast north of Kobuleti, with a 140 m2 practice hall, then moved on to Mestia, Ushguli and Tbilisi: 27 hours of yoga, 111,000 to 125,000 RUB in a double room and 30,000 RUB for a single room.

Where can you do your own practice in the Adjara mountains?

If you want quiet and your own mat rather than a programme, stay in the Keda hills, a side trip off the road from Batumi to Khulo. Eco House Merisi runs no retreat schedule; you bring your own practice.

Eco House Merisi, Keda

  • Where: Merisi, in a side valley of the Keda district
  • From Batumi: 52 km
  • Rooms: glass cottages and a panorama restaurant
  • Season: all year

Merisi is not on the way to Tago. It sits up the Merisi side valley, and a stop there adds 23 km and about 40 minutes to the Batumi to Khulo drive, so plan it as its own night.

The Metta.Land silent Vipassana retreat runs in Tago village in the Adjara mountains: 16-20 October 2026, four nights for up to 10 people, silence, a 5 am start and two vegetarian meals a day. It costs EUR 260 in shared costs plus a donation for the teaching, with a transfer from Batumi.

Which yoga retreats run in the Greater Caucasus?

Kazbegi, Gudauri and Svaneti have the highest and wildest settings, and the longest transfers. Kazbegi and Gudauri are reached from Tbilisi; Svaneti from Kutaisi.

Kazbegi

Zen Travel Georgia runs a 7-day Relax & De-stress retreat at Suatis Resort in Achkhoti, near Kazbegi (Stepantsminda): 15-21 August in 2026, US$2,500 per person in a shared double and US$2,900 in a single. The resort is 149 km by road from central Tbilisi, at about 1,760 m, 800 m off the main road.

Every room at Suatis looks at the mountains. Several summer 2026 reviews say the hotel serves breakfast only and a simple one, so dinner is in the village.

Gudauri

The 5-day Tsa Lung breathwork retreat runs on 19-23 December 2026 in a heated forest cabin near the ski resort, for four people, with teacher Oleg Gritskevich: about 25 hours of practice, three mainly vegetarian meals a day, US$490, a US$81 deposit and free cancellation until 18 December. The cabin has no road; luggage goes up by sled from the parking area. Gudauri is 122 km from central Tbilisi.

Svaneti

My Yogic Adventure runs Embody Your Yoga in Lakhushdi, 15 minutes from Mestia: 7 nights half board, EUR 700 in a triple room, EUR 800 in a twin and EUR 950 single; the 2026 week was 8-15 August. Soul & Sun Yoga runs a yoga and hiking week from Kutaisi to Mazeri in the Becho valley for up to 12 people: EUR 1,450 early or EUR 1,550 in a double, plus EUR 150 to 200 for a single room.

Kutaisi airport to Mestia is 230 km through Zugdidi and about 4.5 hours by transfer. Mestia airport is 10 km from Lakhushdi.

What about Borjomi and Tsemi?

The Borjomi gorge is the spa option: mineral springs, forest and big hotels, 160 km from central Tbilisi. The luxury wellness spa retreat at the 5-star Borjomi Health and Spa Centre has daily yoga and qigong over 5 days and 4 nights, 29 April to 3 May 2027, with an airport pickup: US$1,907 at the early-bird rate (US$2,019 after), a US$372 deposit and free cancellation until 28 April 2027.

Tsemi, a mountain village near Borjomi, hosts the cheapest programme in this guide: a 3-day Mountain Yoga & Breathwork Retreat at Mountain Resort Gantiadi for US$230 in a standard room or US$265 in a deluxe one, sharing a double, with full-board vegetarian meals and a US$50 round-trip transfer from Tbilisi; the 2026 edition ran on 27-29 May. Tsemi is 168 km from central Tbilisi and 154 km from Kutaisi airport.

Do you want silence rather than yoga?

Georgia has three regular options for silent practice. The first is the 10-day Vipassana courses in the Goenka tradition in Bakuriani, on donation only: the 7-18 October course is under way and the next runs on 20-31 October 2026. The second is the Metta.Land retreat in Tago village (see above). The third is the Georgian Sangha Zen sesshins at Tsikhisdziri.

Our guides to meditation retreats in Georgia and phone-free weeks cover these in detail.

What does a yoga retreat in Georgia cost in 2026?

A 3 to 5 day programme costs US$230 to 490 and a week EUR 700 to US$2,900 per person, sharing a room. On top come flights, the travel insurance Georgia requires, usually the airport transfer, and a single-room supplement if you want your own room.

When is yoga retreat season in Georgia?

Most programmes run from May to October. The mountain camps in Adjara are open from April to the end of October, the sea is warm from June to early October, and from November the programmes move to the coast, the ski resorts and the spa towns.

Batumi is the rainiest city in Georgia, with about 2,435 mm a year, and the rain builds from 108 mm in May to 312 mm in November, according to Georgia Guidebook. Pack a rain layer for any week on the coast and in Adjara.

How do you get to a retreat from Batumi, Kutaisi or Tbilisi airport?

Fly into Batumi for the coast and the Adjara mountains, Kutaisi for Svaneti, and Tbilisi for Kazbegi, Gudauri and Borjomi. Kutaisi also works for Batumi: it is 124.5 km away by road, about 2 hours.

To reach Glamping Tago without a transfer, take a marshrutka from Batumi bus station to Khulo: every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 20:00, about 2.5 hours and about 10 GEL for 85 km of asphalt. In Khulo a 4x4 taxi takes up to four people the last 8.9 km in 30 to 35 minutes for 75 GEL per car, and a minibus with luggage for a group costs 135 GEL. A private 4x4 from Batumi is 265 GEL per car of up to four, 2.5 hours. Driving yourself, a normal car is fine to Khulo; park in Khulo centre and take the 4x4 taxi, or with a real 4x4 park at the camp. A minibus or normal car can use the easier Skhalta valley road instead: turn off at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, then up through Cheri and Dzmagula. Use Maps.me rather than Google Maps, and note that Chao is a different village. Full details are on how to get to Glamping Tago.

From Kutaisi airport to Batumi there is a train (2 hours, 31 GEL, four a day), a bus (2 hours, 25 GEL, four a day) and a marshrutka from Kutaisi bus station (3 hours, 20 GEL, hourly from 08:00 to 18:00). From Tbilisi our private transfer to Tago takes 8.5 hours and costs 925 GEL per car of up to four.

How do you book a yoga retreat in Georgia safely?

Book the retreat first, then the flights, and get the venue's name and the cancellation terms in writing before you pay. Then arrange the insurance and the transfer.

  1. Ask where you will sleep. Some listings name only "a 5-star hotel on the cliffs". Get the hotel's name, then look up its Google reviews yourself.
  2. Ask who teaches and how much. Count the sessions: the Prague Yoga Collective week has 12, the Kvariati weekend two classes a day, and a tour that changes hotel every two or three days has far less.
  3. Read the deposit and cancellation terms. The Gudauri and Borjomi listings allow free cancellation until the day before arrival and I Am Pause until 22 days before. At Glamping Tago the Digital Detox week refunds in full up to two weeks before; for a group buyout the 30% prepayment is non-refundable.
  4. Check what is included. Meals (half or full board), the airport transfer, excursions and a single room are often extra.
  5. Buy the insurance. Since 1 January 2026, every foreign visitor to Georgia needs health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL for the whole stay, in Georgian or English, printed or electronic. The Polish embassy in Tbilisi sets out the rule.
  6. Book flights to the right airport. Batumi for Adjara, Kutaisi for Svaneti, Tbilisi for Kazbegi and Borjomi.
  7. Bring layers and a rain jacket. Mountain nights are cold even in summer, and the coast is wet.

What should you pack, and is there signal?

Pack for cold nights, rain and a few days off-grid in the mountains, and for a wet coast. Mountain nights in Adjara are cold even in summer and close to freezing in late October.

  • Layers: thermals, a fleece or wool jumper, a warm jacket, a hat and gloves for the evenings.
  • Rain gear: a waterproof jacket and waterproof walking shoes; Batumi is the rainiest city in Georgia.
  • For the sauna: swimwear and slippers or camp shoes.
  • A head torch for the paths between the tents at night.
  • Your own mat only if you are attached to it: Glamping Tago provides mats, blocks and bolsters.

At Glamping Tago the Wi-Fi runs on Starlink at about 300 Mbps, good enough for video calls, and Magti has the best mobile coverage. If it rains, practice moves into the yoga dome and the shala, and the sauna and the campfire carry the evening.

Want to bring your own yoga group to Georgia?

If you are a teacher with 12 or more students, book a venue rather than a place on someone else's retreat. Glamping Tago hosts 12 to 33 people on site as a whole-camp buyout, and the seven village guesthouses add 27 rooms for 64 more people, a 3 to 10 minute walk away, at 150 GEL per room per night.

A person standing on a wooden platform looking over the Adjara mountains at sunset

The terms are simple: a 30% non-refundable prepayment confirms the dates, the programme is due 30 days before, the final number 14 days before and the tent list 7 days before. Cancelling more than 60 days ahead costs only the prepayment. Send your dates and group size to Anastasia, our retreats coordinator, on WhatsApp at +995 599 29 97 57; she replies within 24 hours with availability, a draft programme and a quote. The privatisation fee for an event is 2,000 GEL, the organiser eats free for the whole stay, and June to September dates book 6 to 12 months ahead. Smaller groups can book part of the camp and use the yoga spaces on a shared schedule. Read more on our retreat venue page and in our guide to retreat venues in Georgia.

What do people get wrong about yoga retreats in Georgia?

  • Expecting a permanent retreat centre. Programmes are weeks run by visiting teachers, so the venue changes. Follow a teacher or a venue, not a brand.
  • Waiting for November. The mountain camps in Adjara close at the end of October.
  • Forgetting the insurance. Since January 2026, 30,000 GEL of health cover is an entry requirement, not a suggestion.
  • Underestimating the last stretch. Mountain venues are often reached by 4x4. At Tago the last 8.9 km from Khulo is a 4x4 road, so a normal taxi stops in Khulo.

Questions people ask

Are there yoga retreats in Georgia the country?

Yes. Open programmes run mainly from April to October in the Adjara mountains above Batumi, on the Black Sea coast at Kvariati and Tsikhisdziri, in Kazbegi, Svaneti and Borjomi, with a few winter weeks near Gudauri. Most are weeks run by visiting teachers, so the dates change every year.

How much does a yoga retreat in Georgia cost?

A 3 to 5 day programme costs US$230 to 490 per person, sharing a room. A full week costs from EUR 700 in Svaneti to US$2,900 in a single room in Kazbegi. Flights, insurance and often the airport transfer (US$50 at Kvariati and Tsemi) are extra.

Is there a yoga retreat near Batumi?

Yes. The Where Sea Meets Mountains retreat at Calypso Kvariati Hotel is 11 km from Batumi airport and costs from US$448 for 4 days. In the mountains, Glamping Tago is 87 km from Batumi airport and runs open weeks such as the Digital Detox week on 26 October-1 November 2026.

Is yoga included in a normal stay at Glamping Tago?

Yes. Every stay includes a free morning yoga session with one of our teachers, for all levels, plus the evening sauna and the campfire. You do not have to book a retreat to practise.

Can I join a yoga retreat at Glamping Tago in 2027?

Open weeks are announced on glampingtago.ge/retreats. Teachers such as Prague Yoga Collective, which ran two weeks here in 2026, its third summer at Tago, publish their own dates on their pages. We are open from 1 April to the end of October.

Is there a phone-free retreat in Georgia?

Yes. At the Digital Detox & Mental Health Week at Glamping Tago, 26 October to 1 November 2026, phones, laptops and smartwatches are locked in a safe for the week, with morning yoga and meditation twice a day, from EUR 540. The 10-day Vipassana courses in Bakuriani and the Metta.Land retreat in Tago village are silent; Vipassana runs on donation.

Which airport do I fly into for a yoga retreat in Georgia?

Batumi for the coast and the Adjara mountains, Kutaisi for Svaneti and Tbilisi for Kazbegi, Gudauri and Borjomi. From Kutaisi airport to Batumi it is 124.5 km, about 2 hours by train or bus.

Do I need travel insurance for a retreat in Georgia?

Yes. Since 1 January 2026 every foreign visitor needs health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL for the whole stay, in Georgian or English. It is an entry rule, not a retreat rule.

When is the best time for a yoga retreat in Georgia?

June and September give warm days in the mountains and a sea around 22 to 25 °C on the coast. October is quieter, with crisp mountain days, a sea around 21 °C and mountain nights close to freezing. The Adjara mountain camps close at the end of October.

Is there Wi-Fi and phone signal at a mountain retreat in Adjara?

At Glamping Tago, yes: the Wi-Fi runs on Starlink at about 300 Mbps, good enough for video calls, and Magti has the best mobile coverage. On the high roads over the Goderdzi and Zekari passes there are long stretches with no signal, so download an offline map before you set off.
