A 7-day retreat for 20 people in Georgia (the country) costs about 36,000 to 75,000 GEL in 2026, or roughly €12,300 to €25,600, before your own fee. That is 1,786 to 3,726 GEL (about €614 to €1,282) per participant for six nights with full board, airport transfers, activities, a guest teacher, insurance, marketing and a 10% buffer. The venue and the food are half to three quarters of it, so the month you pick and the way you book the venue decide most of the budget.
This guide is the budget we would build ourselves: every line with a real 2026 price, a low, typical and high version, and the arithmetic for pricing the ticket and the margin. The example is a whole-venue week at our own camp in the mountains of Adjara, with the other venue types in Georgia priced next to it.

Which venue fits a 20-person retreat budget?
For a group of 20, the cheapest way to get privacy is a venue with a published whole-property rate; hotels and resorts in Georgia sell rooms by quote and share the property with other guests. Here is how the main options compare on what decides a retreat budget.
| Venue | Whole venue for your group | Everyone sleeps on site | Practice space | Nearest airport, by road | Group price basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glamping Tago, Khulo (Adjara) | Yes, one group at a time | Yes, 33 beds | 138 m2 covered outdoor platform and a 38 m2 heated dome | Batumi, 86.7 km, about 2h30 | Buyout per night, 1,962 to 4,488 GEL |
| Eco House Merisi, Keda (Adjara) | Only with a whole-hotel buyout, priced on request | Yes, in cottages and villas | Restaurant hall for up to 50 | Batumi, 48.5 km | Every event priced on request |
| Kiketi Farm, near Tbilisi | No, a hotel and a day-visitor farm | Yes | Yoga and workshop spaces | Tbilisi, 30 minutes from the city | On request |
| Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, Kakheti | No, 310 rooms in 16 buildings | Yes | Event hall for up to 350 | Tbilisi, 117 km | On request |
| Kvareli Lake Resort, Kakheti | No, 100 rooms | Yes | Conference halls | Tbilisi | On request |
| Rooms Kazbegi, Stepantsminda | No, 155 rooms | Yes | Hotel event spaces | Tbilisi | Rooms from US$225 a night |
A buyout turns the venue into a fixed cost: you pay the same whether 14 or 24 people come, which is why the ticket section below prices on the minimum number of guests.
What does a 7-day retreat for 20 people in Georgia cost in total?
The typical version, a September week at Glamping Tago with a guest teacher, comes to 51,708 GEL (about €17,785), or 2,585 GEL (about €889) per participant before your margin. The venue buyout is 42% of it and full board 23%.

The model is a 7-day, 6-night week for 20 paying participants plus you as the lead facilitator. Dollar quotes are converted at the National Bank of Georgia rate of 14 October 2026: 1 USD = 2.5989 GEL and 1 EUR = 2.9074 GEL. US planning guides put venue and food at 40 to 55% of a retreat budget (The Retreat Planner); in Georgia the share runs higher because transfers, teachers and activities cost less than in Western Europe or the US.
How much is the venue: a buyout or per person?
At Glamping Tago a whole-camp buyout for 2026 costs 1,962 GEL a night in April and up to 4,488 GEL in July and August; for six nights that is 11,772 to 26,928 GEL. The hotels and resorts below sell rooms rather than the whole property, so a group of 20 shares the building with other guests.
Glamping Tago (our venue), Adjara
- Where: a ridge above Tago village, Khulo, mountainous Adjara, at 1,200 m
- From the airport: 86.7 km from Batumi airport, about 2h30 by road
- Capacity: 12 to 33 guests in 12 Lotus tents for two and a 9-bed Half Dome, everyone on site
- 2026 buyout, per night: April 1,962 GEL; May 2,520; June 3,584; July 4,488; August 4,488; September 3,584; October 2,316
- Season: 1 April to the end of October
Glamping Tago is made for retreats of up to 30 people, and the whole place belongs to one group at a time. The buyout includes the evening sauna with a cold plunge, the campfire, coffee and tea all day, the indoor yoga dome, a sound system and morning yoga on request. The retreats page lists the full terms, and 75+ group retreats have run here since 2021.
| Glamping Tago, per night (2026) | Lotus tent for 2 | Whole 9-bed dorm | Whole-camp buyout |
|---|---|---|---|
| April | 147 GEL | 294 GEL | 1,962 GEL |
| May | 200 GEL | 400 GEL | 2,520 GEL |
| June and September | 268 GEL | 536 GEL | 3,584 GEL |
| July and August | 336 GEL | 672 GEL | 4,488 GEL |
| October | 173 GEL | 346 GEL | 2,316 GEL |
Booking ten Lotus tents for 20 people in September costs 2,680 GEL a night instead of 3,584 for the buyout, but other guests then share the camp and the yoga spaces run on a shared schedule. For a retreat that is the false saving: the 904 GEL a night buys you every tent, both practice spaces and a quiet camp.

What does full board cost for a group?
Full board at Glamping Tago costs 100 GEL per person per day for groups: a breakfast buffet (32 GEL), lunch (25 to 31 GEL) and a dinner buffet (37 GEL), with coffee and tea all day. For 20 people over six days that is 12,000 GEL, and the kitchen is fully vegetarian.

- Count meals day by day. A week that starts with dinner on day 1 and ends with breakfast on day 7 is six days of full board. Ask for a picnic lunch on the hike day rather than skipping a meal.
- You eat free. The organiser's food is included for the whole stay; a co-teacher pays the normal 100 GEL a day.
- Drinks are extra. Alcohol and anything outside coffee, tea and the meals goes on the bill at the end.
- Meals are served in Yurtalicious, the yurt restaurant on site.
US budget guides allow US$35 to 60 (RetreatsOS) or US$40 to 80 (Brett Larkin) per person per day for retreat meals; 100 GEL is about US$38.
How much are transfers from Batumi or Kutaisi airport?
A 20-person group needs about 1,700 to 4,650 GEL for transfers both ways. The cheapest is everyone landing at Batumi and one hired Sprinter with a driver; the dearest is a Kutaisi arrival in private 4x4s.

| Transfer option (2026 prices) | Price | For 20 people, both ways |
|---|---|---|
| 22-seat Sprinter in Batumi, 1-3 days, plus driver (DW Auto) | US$180 a day + US$150 for the driver | about 1,715 GEL for 2 days |
| Sprinter with driver for up to 20 (Cars and Rooms) | from US$200 a day, driver included for Tbilisi pick-ups, fuel extra | about 1,040 GEL for 2 days, plus fuel |
| Private 4x4 to Tago, up to 4 people, from Batumi | 265 GEL a car | 5 cars x 2 = 2,650 GEL |
| Private 4x4 to Tago, up to 4 people, from Kutaisi | 465 GEL a car | 5 cars x 2 = 4,650 GEL |
| Kutaisi airport to Batumi, 8-20 people (Georgia On Wheels) | 700 GEL a vehicle | 1,400 GEL, then the Batumi-Tago leg |
| Kutaisi airport to Batumi by bus, 4 times a day, about 2h (our route guide) | 25 GEL a person | 500 GEL each way, then the Batumi-Tago leg |
| Batumi-Khulo marshrutka, then 4x4 taxi | about 10 GEL a person + 75 GEL per car of 4 | not for a group with luggage |
Batumi airport is the closest: 86.7 km to the camp, about 2h30 with the last mountain stretch. Batumi airport has direct flights from Istanbul (Turkish Airlines, Pegasus) and Dubai (flydubai), so most European participants fly in with one change in Istanbul.
Kutaisi airport is where Wizz Air flies direct from 24 European cities (The Georgian Guide). From Kutaisi airport the road runs 124 km to Batumi and 215 km to Tago; a private 4x4 takes about 5h30 to the camp. Book the Kutaisi group a full day's drive, with a lunch stop in Batumi.
A minibus reaches Glamping Tago by the Skhalta valley road: turn off at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, and climb through Cheri and Dzmagula. The road from Khulo is the 4x4 way up. The Khulo cable car is closed, so it is no option for a group. All routes and the current 4x4 taxi prices are on how to get to Glamping Tago.
What do activities and day trips cost?
Most of a retreat week at Tago costs nothing extra: five marked walks start at the gate, and morning yoga, the evening sauna and the campfire are included. Paid group activities start at 300 GEL for a guided walk and 50 to 200 GEL per person for workshops.
| Group activity at Glamping Tago (2026 group prices) | Price | For 20 people |
|---|---|---|
| Guided forest and herb walk | from 300 GEL a group | 300 GEL |
| Georgian cooking workshop | from 50 GEL a person | 1,000 GEL |
| Painting workshop | from 100 GEL a person | 2,000 GEL |
| Jara honey tour with a feast | from 200 GEL a person | 4,000 GEL |
| Jeep tour to Green Lake, Khikhani, Shuamta or Goderdzi | 400 GEL a car | per car |
| Big jeep tour | 600 GEL a car | per car |
| Hiking guide | from 150 GEL | per guide |
| Movie night | from 5 GEL a person | 100 GEL |
The activities page and the tours page carry the current list. The budget model counts the herb walk and the cooking workshop in the low version (1,300 GEL), adds painting in the typical one (3,300 GEL) and the honey tour in the high one (7,300 GEL).

Space hire, teachers and staff: what should you budget?
At Glamping Tago the practice spaces cost nothing on top of the buyout: a 138 m2 outdoor platform under a sailcloth tent (50+ people on mats, sides roll down in rain) and a heated 38 m2 yoga dome with a wood stove for 10 to 12. Mats, blocks, straps, cushions, a projector, a screen, a speaker and a microphone are there; Starlink Wi-Fi runs at about 300 Mbps.

Teachers are the line facilitators most often leave out:
- Guest facilitator: Coherence Retreats pays US$500-1,000, US$1,000-1,500 or US$3,500-7,000+ per retreat by level, plus travel, room and meals. The model uses US$1,000 (typical) and US$1,500 (high), plus 600 GEL of meals per teacher.
- Sound healer: RetreatsOS budgets US$600 for two sound-healing sessions in its 5-day example. The high version adds one.
- Booked on site: a private yoga session or a sound healing session costs 100 GEL, a breathwork session 350 GEL per group, and a private sauna outside the evening hours 150 GEL.
Which insurance does a retreat in Georgia need in 2026?
Since 1 January 2026 every foreign visitor to Georgia needs travel medical insurance of at least 30,000 GEL covering the whole stay (Irao). It costs from 2 GEL a day, or about 56 GEL per person for 7 days at the 8 GEL daily rate of Georgian Insurance.
Your own cover is separate:
- Organiser liability: US$400-1,500 per retreat for a small group, or US$1,200-3,500 a year. The usual limit is US$1 million per occurrence and US$2 million aggregate (retreat insurance guide).
- Your teaching policy: a yoga teacher's annual liability policy costs US$150-300 (Solana).
The low budget has your liability cover only (about 1,040 GEL) and asks guests to buy their own entry insurance. The typical one includes entry cover for all 20 (1,120 GEL) so that every guest meets the entry rule; the high one carries US$1,500 of liability cover.
How much do marketing and booking platforms take?
A well-promoted retreat needs at least US$500 to 1,000 for photos, ads, a landing page and emails (Brett Larkin). One booked guest costs US$50 to 300 to win online, and marketing runs 8 to 12% of revenue (Dojo Business). The model uses US$500 (low), US$1,000 (typical) and US$2,000 (high); 8% of the revenue of 20 guests at €1,490 would be about 6,900 GEL.
Booking platforms charge on the ticket, not on your costs:
| Platform | Commission | Payment fee |
|---|---|---|
| BookRetreats | 15% standard; 20, 25 or 30% for more visibility | 3%, also on extras |
| Retreat Guru | 14% per booking, free to list | - |
| Retiru | 0% on the first paid retreat, 10% on the second, 20% from the third | - |
| Direct (your own site, card or bank) | 0% | 2 to 4% |
On a €1,490 ticket, 15% plus 3% is about €268 per guest: at 20 guests that is €5,364, more than the typical marketing budget. Platforms are worth it for the first retreat, when you have no list; repeat groups sell direct.
The full budget: low, typical and high (2026 prices)
The low week costs 35,721 GEL (May, no guest teacher), the typical one 51,708 GEL (September, one guest teacher) and the high one 74,526 GEL (July or August, two guest teachers, a Kutaisi arrival). Food is the same in all three; the venue month, the team and the transfers make the difference.
Low = May, typical = September, high = July-August at Glamping Tago.
| Line, 20 participants, 6 nights | Low (May) | Typical (September) | High (July-August) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Venue: whole-camp buyout | 15,120 GEL | 21,504 GEL | 26,928 GEL |
| Full board, 100 GEL a day | 12,000 GEL | 12,000 GEL | 12,000 GEL |
| Transfers, both ways | 1,715 GEL | 2,245 GEL | 4,650 GEL |
| Activities | 1,300 GEL | 3,300 GEL | 7,300 GEL |
| Guest teachers and their meals | 0 GEL | 3,199 GEL | 6,657 GEL |
| Insurance | 1,040 GEL | 2,160 GEL | 5,018 GEL |
| Marketing | 1,299 GEL | 2,599 GEL | 5,198 GEL |
| Contingency, 10% | 3,247 GEL | 4,701 GEL | 6,775 GEL |
| Total | 35,721 GEL | 51,708 GEL | 74,526 GEL |
| Per participant | 1,786 GEL (about €614) | 2,585 GEL (about €889) | 3,726 GEL (about €1,282) |
Prices in Georgia keep rising: average hotel rooms cost 128 to 494 GEL in June 2026, and the hotel price index stood 8.4% above a year earlier (PMCG hotel price index). Lock the venue rate in the contract when you sign.
How do you price the ticket so the retreat breaks even?
Price the ticket on the smallest group you would still run, not on a full house: (total costs + the profit you want) / minimum guests = price per person (Brett Larkin). In the typical budget about 30,900 GEL is fixed (venue, transfers, teacher, liability cover, marketing) and about 806 GEL moves with each guest (food, workshops, entry insurance).

| Guests (typical budget) | Total costs incl. 10% buffer | Break-even ticket, after 3% card fees |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | 44,615 GEL | 3,833 GEL (about €1,318) |
| 14 | 46,388 GEL | 3,416 GEL (about €1,175) |
| 16 | 48,161 GEL | 3,103 GEL (about €1,067) |
| 18 | 49,935 GEL | 2,860 GEL (about €984) |
| 20 | 51,708 GEL | 2,665 GEL (about €917) |
A 30% margin at 16 guests needs a ticket of about 4,493 GEL (€1,545). At €1,490 for a shared tent, sold direct:
| Guests at €1,490 | Revenue | Profit | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14 | 60,648 GEL | 12,441 GEL (about €4,279) | 21% |
| 16 | 69,312 GEL | 19,072 GEL (about €6,560) | 28% |
| 18 | 77,976 GEL | 25,703 GEL (about €8,840) | 33% |
| 20 | 86,641 GEL | 32,334 GEL (about €11,121) | 37% |
The same €1,490 ticket sold through a platform at 15% plus 3% leaves about €6,651 at 20 guests (22%) and €2,984 at 16 (13%).
How that ticket sits in the market:
- Georgian retreats sold to locals and the Russian-speaking market: EkoRetreat runs 7 days in Gonio for €600 in a triple room to €850 in a suite, with vegetarian meals, the airport transfer and excursions; My Yogic Adventure sells 7 nights in Svaneti for €700-950, half board.
- Our own week: the Digital Detox week costs €600 in the dorm, €810 in a shared Lotus tent and €1,190 in a private tent, 6 nights with everything included.
- A European teacher's week at Tago: Prague Yoga Collective sells its 7 days at 16,500-26,500 CZK with breakfast, dinner, 12 yoga sessions and 3 workshops; lunch, transfers and day trips are extra.
- Western price levels: retreats sell for US$1,800 to 4,000 per person, and planners add US$500-700 per person on top of venue costs (Yoga Studio Insider). International wellness travellers spent US$1,764 per trip on average in 2022 (Global Wellness Institute).
Use tiers to fill the week early and lift the average:
- Early bird: 10 to 20% below the standard price for the first 30 to 40% of places (pricing framework). At €1,490 that is €1,190 to €1,340 for the first 6 to 8 guests.
- Private tent: a VIP tier 30 to 50% above the standard price works for 2 to 4 places. With a buyout, 12 tents hold 16 guests in pairs and 4 alone, so four private-tent places at about €1,990 cost you nothing extra.
- Instalments: above GBP 800, payment plans lift conversion by 15 to 25% (Billetto).
What margin do retreat facilitators really make?
The most profitable retreats run a 25 to 40% margin (RetreatsOS), and hosts aim for 30 to 50% on top of break-even (SquadTrip). Leader-led retreats reach 30 to 50% net when they are well structured, against 10 to 30% for retreat centres (business models).
- Count your hours. Planning, marketing and running a retreat can take 100 hours, which is why Mindful Ecotourism sets the bar at a 10K profit per retreat.
- Keep the buffer. A 10 to 20% buffer is standard; the model carries 10%.
- Venue commission. Glamping Tago pays organisers who bring a group a 10% commission against a commission invoice, by bank transfer.
- Co-hosting. If you have no audience of your own, a co-host model shares profit with an established teacher in return for a minimum number of guests, typically 8 (Santosha Retreats).
When do you pay the venue, and how do you protect your cash flow?
At Glamping Tago 30% of the total confirms the booking and is the non-refundable minimum; the accommodation balance is paid before arrival, and food and extras at the end. Take guest deposits of at least the same 30%, so the venue deposit never comes out of your own pocket (SquadTrip).
The flexibility in our group terms:
- More than 60 days before arrival: add or remove tents freely.
- 60 to 30 days: remove up to 2 tents free of charge.
- 30 to 14 days: remove 1 more.
- 14 days before arrival: final numbers.
Payment goes by GEL bank transfer to Bank of Georgia or a 24-hour GEL payment link without commission, and company invoices come in GEL or EUR. Russian bank cards do not work in Georgia: groups paying from Russia use KoronaPay, cash or a transfer to a Georgian account. Georgia charges 18% VAT, and registration becomes compulsory once taxable turnover passes 100,000 GEL in 12 months (PwC), so ask whether VAT is in every quote.
How do you book a retreat in Georgia, step by step?
- 12 months out: pick the month. June to September dates at Tago book 6 to 12 months ahead; the April, May and October buyouts cost 44 to 56% less than July and August.
- 10 to 12 months out: ask for the venue's written group terms, pay the 30% deposit and get the nightly rate in the contract. At Glamping Tago this starts with a message and a short video call with Anastasia, our retreats coordinator (WhatsApp +995 599 29 97 57, anastasia@glampingtago.ge); dates can be held for one week without a deposit.
- 9 months out: set the minimum group size, run the break-even sum and publish the ticket with an early-bird price.
- 6 to 9 months out: book the guest teacher and your liability cover; open sales.
- 3 months out: book the minibus and the 4x4 for luggage once you know the flights. Send guests the entry insurance rule.
- 60 days out: last free change to the number of tents.
- 14 days out: final numbers, meal plan day by day, workshop bookings.
- On the last day: settle food and extras.

What should participants pack, and what if it rains?
Tell participants it is a mountain week: warm days and cold nights even in summer, and weather that changes fast at 1,200 m. The tents and the yoga dome are heated, the platform's sides roll down in wind and rain, and the sauna and the campfire run every evening, so a wet day moves indoors rather than off the programme (retreats page).
- Pack: warm layers, a rain jacket, hiking shoes for the walks from the gate, and swimwear for the sauna and cold plunge.
- Signal: Starlink Wi-Fi runs at about 300 Mbps; Magti has the best mobile coverage up here.
- Parking: with a 4x4 you park at the camp; without one, park in Khulo centre and take the 4x4 taxi (75 GEL a car for up to 4, how to get here).
- Cash: Khulo has shops and banks; transfers and activities are paid to our reception, not to the drivers or guides.
What do first-time organisers get wrong?
The common mistakes come from pricing on a full house and forgetting the lines that sit between the airport and the mat:
- Pricing on 20 guests. At 14 guests the typical week's break-even ticket is 3,416 GEL, 28% more than at 20.
- Booking part of a venue to save money. Glamping Tago can host two groups at once, and then the platform, the dome and the restaurant run on a shared timetable. A retreat with fixed session times books the whole place.
- Forgetting the last stretch. The road up from Khulo is a 4x4 road; a minibus takes the Skhalta valley road instead.
- Exchange rates. You sell in euros and pay in lari. Keep the 10% buffer and set the venue price in GEL in the contract.
- Leaving extras unwritten. Agree workshop and drink prices in writing before arrival, so the bill at the end holds no surprise.

A 7-day retreat for 20 at Glamping Tago
Glamping Tago is made for retreats of up to 30 people: the whole camp belongs to your group, everyone sleeps on site, and the buyout is a published nightly rate, so you know your biggest cost before you open sales.
The buyout includes the 138 m2 covered platform, the heated 38 m2 yoga dome, the evening sauna with a cold plunge, the campfire, coffee and tea all day and morning yoga on request. Meals are vegetarian full board in Yurtalicious, the yurt restaurant on site, and the organiser eats free.
We are Jonas and Lisa, a Belgian couple who fell in love with Georgia and opened Glamping Tago in 2021; we answer every group enquiry ourselves.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to run a 7-day retreat for 20 people in Georgia?
About 35,700 to 74,500 GEL in 2026 (roughly €12,300 to €25,600) for six nights, including a whole-venue buyout, full board, transfers, activities, guest teachers, insurance, marketing and a 10% buffer. A typical September week at Glamping Tago with one guest teacher comes to 51,708 GEL, or 2,585 GEL (about €889) per participant before your margin.
How much should I charge for a retreat in Georgia (the country)?
Divide your total costs plus the profit you want by the smallest group you would still run. In the typical budget the break-even ticket is about €1,067 at 16 guests; a 30% margin at 16 needs about €1,545. Georgian retreats sold locally cost €600 to €950 a week, while Western retreats sell for US$1,800 to 4,000 per person.
What profit margin do retreat facilitators make?
The most profitable retreats run 25 to 40%, and well-structured leader-led retreats reach 30 to 50% net. In our model a €1,490 ticket sold direct earns 28% at 16 guests and 37% at 20, but only 13 to 22% when a booking platform takes 15% plus 3%.
How much is a venue buyout with full board for a retreat in Georgia?
At Glamping Tago a six-night buyout in September costs 21,504 GEL (3,584 GEL a night), and full board for 20 people adds 12,000 GEL at 100 GEL per person per day: 33,504 GEL, or 1,675 GEL per person. Hotels and resorts in Kakheti and Kazbegi quote rooms and meals on request and share the property with other guests.
How much is an airport transfer for a group from Batumi or Kutaisi?
A 22-seat Sprinter with a driver costs US$330 a day in Batumi, about 1,715 GEL for arrival and departure days. A private 4x4 for up to four costs 265 GEL from Batumi or 465 GEL from Kutaisi to Glamping Tago. From Kutaisi airport, a vehicle for 8 to 20 people to Batumi costs 700 GEL, and the bus 25 GEL a person.
Do retreat participants need insurance to enter Georgia in 2026?
Yes. Since 1 January 2026 every foreign visitor needs travel medical insurance of at least 30,000 GEL covering the whole stay. Policies start at about 2 GEL a day; a 7-day policy at 8 GEL a day costs 56 GEL. Your own organiser liability cover is separate and costs US$400 to 1,500 per retreat.
Which month is cheapest for a retreat at Glamping Tago?
April, at 1,962 GEL a night for the whole camp, then October (2,316 GEL) and May (2,520 GEL). June and September cost 3,584 GEL, and July and August 4,488 GEL. The camp is open from 1 April to the end of October.
When do I pay the venue, and what if fewer people sign up?
At Glamping Tago 30% of the total confirms the booking and is non-refundable. More than 60 days before arrival you can add or remove tents freely, from 60 to 30 days remove up to 2 for free, and from 30 to 14 days one more; final numbers are due 14 days before. Take guest deposits of at least 30% to match.
