A 30-guest wedding weekend in Adjara, Georgia costs about EUR 8,500-10,600 at Glamping Tago, and that includes two nights in a bed for every guest. The same weekend costs EUR 16,000-40,000 in Italy and about EUR 15,000-56,000 in Portugal. Greece is the closest in price at EUR 8,000-12,000, but that covers a one-day wedding, with no rooms for your guests. This guide prices the same weekend in all four countries, line by line, with a source for every foreign price, and it is honest about what Georgia does not have.

All Georgian prices are converted at the National Bank of Georgia rate of 27 October 2026: 1 EUR = 2.8943 GEL and 1 USD = 2.5960 GEL.

Which venue fits a 30-guest wedding weekend?

The real difference between the four countries is what you get for the money: the whole venue, a bed for every guest and two or three days together, or one evening at a venue your guests leave at midnight. The table compares one real venue in each country that takes a group of 30.

What does the venue cost in each country?

At Glamping Tago the whole camp for two nights costs 6,516-12,070 GEL (about EUR 2,250-4,170), beds included. In Portugal exclusive use of a venue for the day usually costs EUR 3,000-15,000 and a Puglia masseria EUR 6,000-15,000, before food, and on Santorini most couples spend EUR 2,400-5,500 on the venue alone.

  • Italy: exclusive use of a Puglia masseria costs EUR 6,000-15,000 for the place only; a two-night buyout EUR 14,000-16,000 and three nights EUR 19,000-26,000 or more, with a 2-4 night minimum from June to September (Puglia Uncovered). Across Italy the median published hire fee is about EUR 11,000 (Italian Venues), and in Tuscany the median villa hire is about EUR 21,000 (villa prices by region).
  • Portugal: exclusive use is usually a separate hire fee of EUR 3,000-15,000; around Lisbon EUR 4,000-12,000 or more, and in the Algarve EUR 6,000-20,000 or more, plus catering minimums (Lens & Vows).
  • Greece: 13 Santorini venues publish rate cards from about EUR 400-480 for a ceremony slot to EUR 1,300-5,900 for a full wedding package (Convivela).

What do food and drink cost per guest?

The wedding dinner at Glamping Tago costs 85 GEL (about EUR 29) per guest for a three-course vegetarian supra, against EUR 80-200 in Italy, EUR 90-140 for a seated dinner in Portugal and EUR 50-150 in Greece.

What do the photographer and the music cost?

A photographer in Adjara costs 800-2,700 GEL (about EUR 280-930) for the wedding, and a Georgian DJ 600-1,500 GEL (about EUR 210-520). In Italy, Portugal and Greece the same two lines usually cost about EUR 1,750-6,000 together.

What do your guests pay to fly in?

Guests flying from Western Europe pay more to reach Georgia than to reach Rome, Lisbon or Athens. From Berlin, the cheapest return is EUR 141 to Kutaisi against EUR 59 to Rome, EUR 70 to Lisbon and EUR 103 to Athens; Santorini costs EUR 226 (idealo).

Kutaisi airport is Georgia's low-fare airport, and Wizz Air links it with 24 European cities (The Georgian Guide), among them Berlin, Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Athens, Budapest, Prague and Warsaw. Batumi airport, the closest to us, is served from Istanbul all year by Turkish Airlines and Pegasus. Tbilisi has direct flights from London, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Vienna, Warsaw and other cities, but it is on the far side of the country from Adjara.

The flight gap is the main extra cost for your guests. A guest from Berlin pays about EUR 80 more than for Rome, plus the 25 GEL coach from Kutaisi to Batumi each way (about EUR 17 return). For a guest who also pays for two nights in a Tuscan or Lisbon hotel, Georgia still comes out cheaper overall, because at Glamping Tago the bed is already paid for.

A registrar who comes to your venue in Georgia costs 255 GEL (about EUR 88), set by government decree. In Italy a civil wedding for foreigners costs EUR 700-3,600 in fees in the main towns (Italian Venues), in Portugal EUR 120-200, and in Greece a EUR 15 licence fee stamp per person plus the town hall's own charges.

  • Georgia: registration without a ceremony is free; a ceremony at a Public Service Hall costs 75 GEL, at a Wedding House 135 GEL on weekdays and 225 GEL at weekends, and a registrar at your venue 255 GEL (Matsne). You need two adult witnesses, foreign documents apostilled with a notarised Georgian translation, and proof of legal stay (Public Service Development Agency). Agencies such as Tbiliweddings handle the paperwork from USD 400 in Tbilisi and USD 480 in Batumi.
  • Italy: Rome charges couples when neither partner lives in Rome or its province EUR 1,392 on weekdays and EUR 1,624 at weekends in its main halls (Roma Capitale). Translations and apostilles add EUR 300-800 and legal help EUR 500-1,500 (Italian Venues).
  • Portugal: EUR 120 at a registry office on a working day in office hours (gov.pt), and EUR 200 out of hours or outside the office, plus the registrar's travel (Lens & Vows).
  • Greece: each foreign applicant needs a EUR 15 fee stamp from the tax office for the licence (Heraklion municipality). On Santorini, the Santorini Wedding Planner basic civil wedding package costs EUR 950 with the licence, town hall fees, celebrant and witnesses.

What does Georgia lack compared with Italy, Portugal and Greece?

Georgia saves money, but it is not the easy choice for everyone. These are the trade-offs to weigh before you book.

  • Flights: no direct flights from the big Western European hubs to Batumi, and the Kutaisi flights run a few times a week, not daily. Guests from Berlin pay about EUR 80 more than for Rome.
  • A longer transfer: Batumi airport to Glamping Tago is 87.4 km and about 2 hours, Kutaisi airport is about 5 hours 30 minutes by private 4x4. Le Ciel is 15 minutes from Santorini airport, Quinta do Torneiro 20 minutes from Lisbon.
  • The last stretch: the last 8.9 km to the camp is a mountain road for 4x4 cars and minibuses, not for a hired city car.
  • A smaller vendor market: most wedding vendors in Adjara are based in Batumi and travel up for the day, so the budget carries a vendor car, and the choice is narrower than around Florence or Lisbon.
  • Tents, not hotel rooms: guests sleep in canvas tents and a dorm with shared bathhouses. The tents are heated, but nights are cool: 10-13°C in September and 5-8°C in October.
  • Rain: the mountains are green because it rains, on 11-16 days a month from May to October. The 150 m2 event tent is the plan B, not a marquee you hire extra, as in Italy at EUR 3,000-8,000 (LaLaWed).
  • A vegetarian kitchen with a BBQ station for meat, and a season from April to the end of October only.

What Georgia does not lack is cool summer air. Days usually reach 29-33°C at Tenuta La Valle in July and August and 26-28°C on Santorini, against 24-28°C at Glamping Tago in July, with nights around 15°C.

Where else in Georgia can you hold a 30-guest wedding?

In Adjara, Glamping Tago and Eco House Merisi above are the two mountain venues with a wedding offer. Near Tbilisi, the planners Eventive price a 30-50 guest wedding with a private terrace or garden at USD 1,500-3,500, a premium menu at USD 60-120 a guest and an open bar at USD 25-40 a guest. Guest rooms come on top.

Two well-known names show the difference. Kiketi Farm rents its grounds for the day from USD 3,000-5,500, 30 minutes from Tbilisi. Rooms Kazbegi is a 155-room hotel about 3 hours from Tbilisi, with rooms from USD 225 a night and a restaurant for 80.

How do you get to Glamping Tago from Batumi and Kutaisi?

From Batumi airport it is 87.4 km and about 2 hours: the asphalt road to Khulo, then up to the ridge. We send a 15-seat minibus (410 GEL one way) or a 4x4 for four (265 GEL one way), so your guests never drive the mountain road themselves.

  • From Batumi airport or the city: our minibus for 15 at 410 GEL or a 4x4 for four at 265 GEL, one way. On a budget, the marshrutka from Batumi to Khulo takes 2 h 30 min and costs 10 GEL, every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 20:00, then our 4x4 from Khulo is 75 GEL a car (how to get to Glamping Tago).
  • From Kutaisi airport: the airport coach to Batumi takes about 2 hours for 25 GEL, or the train costs 31 GEL; a private 4x4 from Kutaisi airport to the camp takes about 5 h 30 min and costs 465 GEL. The asphalt road via Batumi is 215.1 km.
  • Cash: transfers are paid in cash at our reception, never to the driver, and the last ATMs (Bank of Georgia, Liberty and Credo) are in Khulo centre, below the last climb. The Khulo cable car is closed.
  • Signal: the camp has Starlink Wi-Fi at about 300 Mbps, enough for your vendors and for a live stream to the family who cannot fly in.

Step by step: how to price your own comparison

  1. Fix the guest list and the nights. Ask every venue for the same thing: 30 guests, two nights, the ceremony, the dinner, breakfasts and where everyone sleeps.
  2. Ask what the quote leaves out: VAT (22% in Italy, 23% in Portugal), minimum covers, equipment hire, tourist tax, the open bar and the vendors' travel.
  3. Add the rooms if the venue has none: 15 double rooms for two nights.
  4. Price your guests' flights from the three cities most of them live in, for the actual flight days.
  5. Add the legal ceremony and the paperwork: apostilles and translations.
  6. Book the date. At Glamping Tago, June to September dates book 6-12 months ahead, and a 30% non-refundable prepayment confirms the date. The balance is paid before arrival, food and extras at the end of the stay (wedding.glampingtago.ge).
  7. Book the vendors once the date is fixed, photographer first. We coordinate every vendor for a fixed 2,000 GEL if you prefer not to.

Questions people ask

Is getting married in Georgia (the country) cheaper than in Italy, Portugal or Greece?

Yes, for a weekend with guests staying over. A 30-guest weekend at Glamping Tago costs about EUR 8,500-10,600 with two nights of beds for everyone, against EUR 16,000-40,000 in Italy and about EUR 15,000-56,000 in Portugal. A Greek micro-wedding of 20-30 guests costs EUR 8,000-12,000, but for one day and without rooms.

How much more do guests pay to fly to Georgia?

From Berlin, the cheapest return to Kutaisi is EUR 141, against EUR 59 to Rome, EUR 70 to Lisbon and EUR 103 to Athens. Add the 25 GEL coach from Kutaisi to Batumi each way. Guests save that difference again on the room, because at Glamping Tago the bed is in the wedding price.

Which airport is best for a wedding at Glamping Tago?

Batumi airport is the closest: 87.4 km and about 2 hours by our minibus (410 GEL one way for 15 seats). Kutaisi airport has the Wizz Air flights from 24 European cities; from there the coach to Batumi takes about 2 hours, or a private 4x4 to the camp about 5 hours 30 minutes for 465 GEL.

Is a civil wedding in Georgia expensive for foreigners?

No. A registrar who comes to your venue costs 255 GEL by government decree, and registration without a ceremony is free. You need two adult witnesses, foreign documents apostilled with a notarised Georgian translation, and proof of legal stay; agencies handle the paperwork from about USD 400.

What is the cheapest month for a wedding at Glamping Tago?

April, at 3,258 GEL a night for the whole camp, then October at 3,646 GEL and May at 3,711 GEL. July and August cost 6,035 GEL a night. In October nights drop to 5-8°C, so the heated tents and the event tent matter.

What is not included in the Glamping Tago wedding price?

Drinks beyond the lemonade, compote and water served with the supra: the drinks menu has a 10% wedding discount, and your own wine costs 15 GEL corkage a bottle. Vendors (photographer, DJ, flowers, make-up) are booked separately, and the vendor car from Batumi costs 530 GEL.

Can we invite more than 30 guests?

Yes. Glamping Tago is made for about 30, with 33 beds on the ridge, but bigger weddings of up to about 100 guests work with the family guesthouses in Village Tago, where the other guests sleep.

How far ahead should we book?

For June to September, 6-12 months ahead, because group dates go first. A 30% non-refundable prepayment confirms the date, the balance is paid before arrival, and the food headcount can change until 7 days before the wedding.
