Retreat Spaces in Georgia (the Country): Yoga Domes, Platforms and Fire Circles Compared, 2026
Published 2 November 202619 min readPrices and facts checked: November 2026
A retreat of 20 needs about 50-60 m2 of floor for flowing yoga, heat for cold mornings and a roof for rain. In Georgia most venues offer hotel conference halls; Glamping Tago in Adjara has a 138 m2 roofed platform and a 38 m2 heated dome, bookable 6 hours a day.

A retreat lives or dies by its practice space. A group of 20 needs about 50-60 m2 of clear floor for a flowing class, a warm room for cold mornings, a roof when it rains, and somewhere to sit around a fire at night. Most venues in Georgia (the country) are hotels with a conference hall; only a few have a real yoga room, and almost none publish its size. This guide compares the domes, platforms, halls and fire circles you can actually book in 2026, starting with Adjara, and shows how the spaces at our own venue work: what they measure, how the 6-hour daily booking works and what is included.
Which retreat space fits your group?
The quick answer: if you want the whole venue for your group, everyone sleeping on site and practice with a mountain view, Glamping Tago in Adjara is built for exactly that, for groups of up to 30. If you need a big indoor hall, a short drive from Tbilisi or hotel rooms, one of the venues below fits better.
| Venue | Whole venue for your group | Everyone sleeps on site | Practice space | Outdoors in nature | Road distance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glamping Tago (ours), Adjara | Yes, one group at a time | Yes, up to 33 people | 138 m2 platform under a sailcloth roof + 38 m2 heated dome | Yes, open on three sides to the mountains | 87.4 km from Batumi airport |
| Eco House Merisi, Adjara | No, a hotel shared with other guests | Yes | Panoramic verandas and a roofed ceremony area, no yoga hall | Yes | 52.6 km from Batumi |
| Calypso Kvariati, Adjara coast | No, shared hotel | Yes | Hotel spaces used by visiting retreat groups | Sea and hills | 11 km from Batumi airport |
| Kiketi Farm, near Tbilisi | No, shared farm hotel | Yes | Yoga House (15 indoors, 20 on the terraces) + forest wellness space (35/50) | Yes, forest | 28.8 km from central Tbilisi |

What does a retreat need from its practice space?
Six things: enough floor, a good floor, warmth, light and sound you control, the props, and a plan for bad weather. A pretty photo of a deck tells you none of them, so ask for each one before you sign.
- Floor area. A mat covers about 1.05-1.2 m2 (oléyoga puts a 185 x 65 cm mat at about 1.2 m2), but people need room around it. Hugger Mugger plans 21.5-25 sq ft (2.0-2.3 m2) per person for calm classes, about 30 sq ft for dynamic styles, plus 50-80 sq ft (about 4.6-7.4 m2) for the teacher. bsport uses 2.5-3 m2 per student for dynamic classes, so a 50 m2 room fits about 20.
- The floor itself. Wood is warm under bare feet; tiles and stone are not. The Retreat Register tells organisers to ask what the floor sits on, not just what it looks like.
- Heat and shade. In the sun a deck gets hot: weathered grey cedar and dark composite pass 60°C in 32°C sun, while freshly oiled cedar stays around 32-41°C (Blooming Expert). A roof over an outdoor platform matters more than its size. Indoors, you need heating for cold mornings and air for hot afternoons.
- Sound, light and air. Ask what can be heard from the room (a kitchen, a road, another group), whether the teacher is audible at the back, and who controls the windows, heating and ventilation during a session; check for condensation and draughts (ActivExplore's rain-plan checklist). Ask for a speaker and microphone if the group is bigger than 15.
- Props. Mats, blocks, straps and bolsters. Some city studios charge for mats separately.
- A rain plan. An outdoor deck needs an indoor alternative for heavy rain, wind or cold, with good ventilation and no draughts.
How big should the space be for 10, 20 or 30 people?
Count about 2.0-2.3 m2 per person for calm yoga, meditation and breathwork, and 2.5-3 m2 for vinyasa or dynamic classes, then add 5-7 m2 for the teacher. That gives the numbers below.
| Group | Calm practice (2.0-2.3 m2 each) | Dynamic classes (2.5-3 m2 each) | Fits at Glamping Tago |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 people | 20-23 m2 + teacher | 25-30 m2 + teacher | Yoga dome (38 m2) |
| 20 people | 40-46 m2 + teacher | 50-60 m2 + teacher | Big platform (138 m2) |
| 30 people | 60-69 m2 + teacher | 75-90 m2 + teacher | Big platform (138 m2) |
A room that "fits 50" in a hotel brochure usually means chairs in rows. For mats, divide the floor area by 3 for a flowing class and you will not be disappointed.

Yoga dome, open platform or fire circle: what is each good for?
Use each space for what it does best. A heated dome is for cold mornings, evenings, small circles, talks and films. An open platform under a roof is for the whole group and the view. A fire circle is for the evening: sharing rounds, music, silence.
- The dome is warm, private and easy to darken. It suits meditation, yin, breathwork and sound sessions for a small group. It is too small for 30 people on mats.
- The open platform is the space people book a mountain retreat for. Under a roof it works in light rain and hot sun; with roll-down sides it works in wind. In cold weather it needs warm layers.
- The fire circle needs no booking, but it needs rules: where fires are allowed, until when, and who keeps it going.

How do the practice spaces at Glamping Tago work?
We have two yoga spaces, a fire circle and an evening sauna, and a group can book up to 6 hours a day across the two yoga spaces. Using them is included in every retreat stay.
Glamping Tago (our venue), Adjara
Where: a ridge above Tago village, Khulo, mountainous Adjara, at about 1,200 m · Drive: 87.4 km from Batumi airport, about 2 to 2.5 hours · Practice space: 138 m2 platform + 38 m2 heated dome · Sleeps: up to 33 · Season: April to October
Glamping Tago is made for retreats of up to 30 people: the whole camp belongs to one group, everyone sleeps on site in twelve Lotus tents for two and the Half Dome, a shared tent for nine, and the practice spaces are a few minutes' walk from every bed. Guests' Google reviews talk about the view first, then the staff and the food. The tents have heating and power, and the camp has Starlink Wi-Fi.
The big platform. A 138 m2 wooden floor under a big sailcloth roof, open to the mountains on three sides. When it is windy or cold, the sides roll down. It takes a group of 50 or more on mats, so a group of 30 has more than 4 m2 each. From 09:00 to 10:00 every day the platform is kept for our own morning yoga class with one of our teachers, for all levels and included in the stay (ask us and we add it to your programme); that hour is not bookable for your own sessions.
The yoga dome. An indoor geodesic dome of 38 m2 with a glass front onto the same mountains and a wood stove for cold days. It fits 10-12 people on mats and has a projector and screen for talks and films. Groups move in here on cool mornings, for evening circles and for movie nights when the weather turns.

Props and sound. Both spaces have mats, blocks and straps, and bolsters are provided on the platform. We also have a projector, screen, speaker and microphone. We have no gong and no massage table, so bring your own singing bowls, gong or treatment table if your programme needs them. Under the tent the projector works best after sunset; in daylight the dome is the better place for slides.
Booking hours. Once your stay is booked, you reserve the spaces yourself on our space booking page with your reservation number:
- Each group books up to 6 hours a day across the platform and the dome. Need more? Send it as a request and we answer.
- The spaces open from 07:00 to 22:00, in 30-minute steps, one group per space at a time.
- You can book, change or cancel online until 7 days before the date. After that, write to hello@glampingtago.ge.
- Other groups see your bookings by group name only, never your email or phone.
When you take the whole camp, every tent, the yurt, the event tent and both yoga spaces are yours. When two groups share the site without a buyout, the morning slot on the deck or in the dome is shared in turns.

The fire circle and the sauna. The campfire is lit in the evenings when the weather allows, with blankets and hot tea, and is included in the stay. Fires are allowed until midnight, and only in the fireplaces we show you; quiet hours run from midnight to 08:00. The wood-fired sauna tent is warm every evening from 20:00 to 22:00, with a cold plunge right next to it, and it is free for staying guests. A good evening rhythm is sauna, dinner, fire.

Who it fits. A women's yoga group has used the 9-bed Half Dome as a women-only room, and a tech community, IT Soul Camp, has come back nine times since 2023, from 8 people up to the whole camp for 34 in June 2026, with morning yoga on the meadow in front of the tents (their story). A spring group of seven practised in the dome on cool mornings and outside on warm ones, closing with a ceremony on the platform (Yoga with Elya).
It is not for every retreat. The road from Khulo up to the camp needs a 4x4, the kitchen is vegetarian, you sleep in tents rather than hotel rooms, and we close from November to March. See all retreat details or the retreat site.
Where else in Adjara can you run a retreat?
Adjara is the region most retreat lists leave out, and it is the one with Batumi airport about 2 hours from the mountains, a cooler, greener summer in the hills, and few tourists. The trade-off is rain on the coast and a long way to Tbilisi.

Eco House Merisi, Keda (Adjara)
Where: Silibauri, Merisi valley, Keda · Drive: 52.6 km from Batumi · Practice space: two panoramic restaurant verandas, an open ceremony area and a roofed panoramic platform of about 100 m2 · Season: all year
A boutique hotel of glass cottages with a 4.9 rating from more than 1,600 Google reviews. It has no yoga hall, so a group practises on a veranda or on the roofed 100 m2 ceremony platform among other hotel guests. Merisi runs a group transfer from Batumi twice a day for 20 GEL per person (from Batumi 13:30, from Merisi 11:00).
Calypso Kvariati Hotel, Adjara coast
Where: Kvariati, south of Batumi · Drive: 11 km from Batumi airport · Practice space: hotel spaces used by visiting retreat groups · Season: April to October
A mid-budget seaside hotel listed by Visit Batumi, with indoor and outdoor pools. Guru Tours runs a 4-day yoga and breathwork retreat here, from USD 448 per person in a triple sea-view room at the early-bird rate, with breakfast and lunch included and a 50 USD transfer from Batumi airport.
For a city class before or after the mountains, Mesto Sily in Batumi has two halls and lends mats, blocks and straps for free.
What do venues near Tbilisi and in Kakheti offer?
Close to Tbilisi you get farm hotels and city studios; in Kakheti, the wine region, you get big resorts with conference halls and a few small places with terraces. Most are hotels you share with other guests, which matters when your group wants silence.
Kiketi Farm, near Tbilisi
Where: Kiketi, above Tbilisi · Drive: 28.8 km from central Tbilisi, about 30 minutes · Practice space: Yoga House plus a forest wellness space · Season: all year
Kiketi Farm's event page lists the Yoga House for 15-50 guests; on RetreatHub it takes up to 15 indoors and 20 on the terraces, with a second forest wellness space for 35 indoors and 50 on its terrace. The farm also runs open weekend yoga classes at 12:00 and 19:00 on Saturdays and Sundays (Kiketi yoga), so ask how they fit around your group.
Tbilisi Yoga Loft, Tbilisi
Where: Vake, Tbilisi · Practice space: a main room of about 150 m2 for 30-50 people; its sister studio in Saburtalo has a 50 m2 room for 15-25 · Season: all year
A city studio by the hour, for a workshop day or a group's first evening in Tbilisi. Its rental page gives the main room at 70 GEL an hour and the Samsara room at Yoga Villa (Oniashvili St 37, Saburtalo) at 50 GEL an hour. Mats are not included (5 GEL per mat per hour or 15 GEL a day); bricks, belts and blankets are free. Rental needs 50% prepayment, with a full refund more than 7 days ahead, 50% at 3-6 days and none inside 72 hours. It also hires out mats, blocks and bolsters for retreats elsewhere at 15 GEL each per day.
Horizons Bakurtsikhe, Kakheti
Where: Bakurtsikhe village, Kakheti · Drive: 104 km from Tbilisi, about 1.5 hours · Practice space: private terraces with a view, an outdoor firepit, a barrel sauna and a pool · Season: all year
A small pod hotel that offers venue rental for weddings, retreats and events. It is the closest thing in Kakheti to a private retreat camp, but it is built around pods for couples and friends, so check how many people sleep on site before you plan.
Kvareli Lake Resort, Kakheti
Where: Kvareli, by the lake · Practice space: the Alazani Conference Hall of 120 m2 and the Kakheti Ballroom of 224 m2, with AV · Season: all year
A large resort with a strong recent rating. Its halls are conference rooms, not yoga rooms, so bring mats and soften the space.
Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, Kakheti
Where: Napareuli, near Telavi · Practice space: 6 conference halls, the largest 396 m2 for up to 450 · Sleeps: 310 rooms in 16 buildings · Season: all year
Built for big conferences (Georgia Convention and Exhibition Bureau). A 20-person retreat here is one group among many.
Tsinandali Estate, Kakheti
Where: Tsinandali village, near Telavi · Practice space: none dedicated to yoga · Season: all year
Tsinandali Estate is a historic estate and Radisson Collection hotel with 124 rooms and a 4.9 rating from nearly 4,000 Google reviews. It suits a high-end group that wants comfort and wine more than a dedicated yoga room.
Chateau Mere, Kakheti
Where: Vardisubani, Telavi · Practice space: an event hall · Sleeps: 57 rooms, 120 beds · Season: all year
Chateau Mere is a hotel with a pool, restaurant and spa that Georgia Travel lists with its event hall. Before you book, ask what else is on in the hotel on your dates: two August 2026 reviews describe a wedding running until about 3 am.
Duende Hotels, Lagodekhi (Kakheti)
Where: Khiza village, at the edge of Lagodekhi National Park · Practice space: private wooden decks in the forest · Sleeps: five treehouse cottages · Season: all year
Duende has three treehouse cottages and two family treehouse cottages, each with a large wooden deck, its own fire pit, a cold plunge by day and a hot tub by night. It suits a very small circle or a teacher's own retreat, not a group of 20.
What about Borjomi, Kazbegi and Samegrelo?
Borjomi has forest hotels with conference rooms, Kazbegi has the big mountain views but busy hotels, and Samegrelo has one small zome retreat centre.
Mountain Resort Gantiadi, Tsemi (Borjomi)
Where: Tsemi, above Borjomi · Drive: 174 km from Tbilisi · Practice space: a small conference room for up to 40 and a large hall for 150 with a stage, in a 4 ha forest park · Season: all year
A family resort with a pool and a children's room (Gantiadi). Guru Tours ran a 3-day yoga and breathwork retreat here in May 2026, with two yoga classes a day, vegetarian full board and the Tbilisi transfer at 50 USD extra.
Kazbegi. The two best-known hotels have slipped for retreat use. Rooms Kazbegi averaged 3.9 over the last 12 months, with October 2026 reviews describing a party next door until 3:30 am. At Suatis Resort in Achkhoti, 2026 reviews mention noise from large tour groups. In the same village, Zen Travel's 7-day yoga and meditation retreat cost USD 2,500 in a shared double in August 2026.
Samegrelo. Le Jardin des Zomes near Zugdidi has a 65 m2 zome for yoga and meditation, five rooms and tents, EUR 30 per person per day in a tent or EUR 50 in a double room (meals extra), and exclusive hire on request (Retreatorium). It has only a handful of Google reviews so far.
What weather should you plan the practice schedule around?
At Tago, plan for rain on about half the days in May and June, and cold mornings in April and October. That is why a retreat in the mountains needs both a roof outside and a warm room inside.
| Month at Tago (about 1,200 m) | Days usually reach | Nights | Rain days | What it means for practice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| April | about 15°C | 2-4°C | about 13 | Mornings in the dome with the stove |
| May | about 19°C | 6-9°C | about 16 | Platform with the sides ready to roll down |
| June | about 24°C | 11-13°C | about 14 | Outdoors most days, rain showers |
| July and August | 24-28°C in July | 15-17°C | 11-14 | Practise early or late, shade at midday; August is the driest summer month |
| September | 22-25°C | 10-13°C | about 12 | Warm days, cool evenings by the fire |
| October | about 18°C | 5-8°C | about 12 | Dome for mornings, layers outside |

How do you get your group to Glamping Tago?
Fly into Batumi, then it is 87.4 km by road to the camp, about 2 to 2.5 hours. We can arrange group transfers from the airport, quoted on top of the stay.
- Group minibus: the Skhalta valley road (turn off at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, then up through Cheri and Dzmagula, 94 km and about 2 hours from Batumi) suits normal cars and minibuses.
- Private 4x4 straight to Tago: 2.5 hours from Batumi, 265 GEL per car for up to 4 people; from Kutaisi 5.5 hours and 465 GEL.
- Public transport: the marshrutka leaves Batumi bus station every 30 minutes, 08:00-20:00, takes about 2.5 hours and costs about 10 GEL. From Khulo our 4x4 taxi takes 30-35 minutes and costs 75 GEL per car for up to 4.
- Fuel and cash: fill up and take cash in Khulo, which has fuel stations, shops and ATMs. The cable car from Khulo is closed, so the last stretch is by road.
All the routes are on our how to get here page.

What should your group pack, and how do you pay?
Pack warm layers and a rain jacket even in summer: nights at about 1,200 m get cold and the weather changes fast, though the tents, the dome and the sauna are heated. Bring cash for Khulo, which has shops, fuel and ATMs; with a 4x4 you park at the camp, without one you leave the car in Khulo centre and take our taxi up.
- Payment: 30% of the total confirms your dates and is not refundable. The accommodation balance is invoiced 14 days before arrival, when final numbers are fixed, and is paid before you come (booking terms).
- Changing numbers: more than 60 days out you add or remove tents freely; from 60 to 30 days you can drop up to 2 tents, from 30 to 14 days one more.
- Cancelling: more than 60 days before arrival it costs the 30% prepayment; inside 60 days, reductions beyond the free tents are billed.
- Signal: the camp has Starlink Wi-Fi, so teachers can upload, stream a session or take a call.
How do you book a practice space, step by step?
- Count your group and your style. Use the floor table above: a calm group of 12 fits a 38 m2 dome; a dynamic group of 20 needs 50-60 m2.
- Ask each venue six questions: floor area in m2, what the floor is, heating, roof and sides outside, props, and what else is booked on your dates.
- Hold your dates. At Glamping Tago, send your dates and group size by WhatsApp, Telegram or email, have a short video call with Anastasia, who shows you the spaces, and pay 30% to confirm.
- Draw the daily schedule. Fit your sessions into 6 hours a day across the dome and the platform, between 07:00 and 22:00, around the 09:00 house class.
- Book the spaces online with your reservation number at least 7 days before each date.
- Plan the rain version of every outdoor session: which ones move to the dome, which ones to the platform with the sides down.
- Book transfers last, once you know everyone's flight times.

Questions people ask
How big should a yoga space be for a retreat of 20 people?
For calm yoga or meditation plan about 2.0-2.3 m2 per person, so 40-46 m2 plus room for the teacher. For vinyasa or other dynamic classes plan 2.5-3 m2 each, so 50-60 m2. A 38 m2 dome is right for 10-12 people; a group of 20 belongs on a bigger platform or in a hall.
Do we need to book the yoga dome or the platform in advance at Glamping Tago?
Yes. Once your stay is booked, you reserve the spaces on our space booking page with your reservation number, up to 6 hours a day across the dome and the platform. You can book, change or cancel online until 7 days before the date; after that, write to hello@glampingtago.ge.
Are yoga, the sauna and the campfire included in a retreat stay?
Yes. Use of the yoga dome and the platform, the evening sauna with its cold plunge, the campfire, the sound system and coffee and tea all day are included. The morning yoga class with one of our teachers is included too. Transfers and paid activities come on top.
What happens to outdoor yoga when it rains or storms?
The big platform has a sailcloth roof, and its sides roll down in wind or cold, so most rain only changes the view. In a storm or on a cold morning, small groups move into the heated 38 m2 dome. Plan the indoor version of every outdoor session before you arrive, because May and June bring rain on about half the days.
Can our group have the yoga spaces to ourselves?
Yes. Each space takes one group at a time, and when you book the whole camp every tent, the yurt, the event tent and both yoga spaces are yours. When two groups share the site, the morning slot is shared in turns and each group books its own hours.
Can we hold sessions early in the morning or late in the evening?
Yes. The spaces can be booked from 07:00 to 22:00 in 30-minute steps. Quiet hours run from midnight to 08:00, so a silent sit at 07:00 is fine, while drumming or loud music belongs after 08:00. Fires are allowed until midnight.
Can we show slides or a film during a session?
Yes. We have a projector, screen, speaker and microphone. Under the tent the picture works best after sunset; in daylight use the yoga dome. Movie nights go on the platform on clear evenings and move into the dome in bad weather.
Can a bigger group than 30 use Glamping Tago?
Up to 33 people sleep on site. A bigger group can add the family guesthouses in Tago village, which have 64 more beds a few minutes' walk away; in August 2026 a meditation retreat of more than 100 people used every tent, village guesthouse rooms and a rented camping area, with the sailcloth tent as its hall. The yoga dome stays a small-group space.
Is there Wi-Fi and phone signal at the camp?
Yes. The camp has Starlink Wi-Fi, enough for a teacher to upload, stream a session or take a video call. If your retreat is phone-free, agree on it with your group before you arrive.
