Remote Team Workation in Georgia (the Country): How a Working Week in the Mountains Runs, With Wi-Fi, Rhythm and Prices

A workation only works if the work works. Here is how a remote team spends a week at Glamping Tago in the Adjara mountains: a real workspace, fibre internet with Starlink backup, a daily rhythm that keeps people sane, and per-person prices for 2026.

Why a workation instead of an offsite

An offsite is three days of workshops. A workation is a normal working week somewhere better than the usual flat, with the team in one place for the evenings. Distributed teams use it to do the things a video call cannot: a planning week, a hackathon, onboarding a new cohort, or simply working next to each other for once. It only succeeds if the work part is boring in the best sense: fast internet, a desk, coffee, no surprises.

Georgia (the country) is unusually good for this. Citizens of many countries can stay visa-free for up to a year, the time zone is UTC+4 (two to three hours ahead of Central Europe, so a European team keeps its afternoon meetings and gains a quiet morning), Batumi and Kutaisi have cheap direct flights, and a week in the mountains costs what a few nights in a Lisbon coworking hotel cost. We run these weeks at Glamping Tago, above Village Tago in Khulo municipality, Adjara; this is how they work, with our numbers.

The workspace, because that is the whole point

• A climate-controlled geodesic dome (38 m2) set up as the quiet room: ergonomic chairs, spacious desks, an espresso machine, and the door closed during calls.
• A 138 m2 sailcloth-covered platform for the whole group: standups, workshops, the projector and screen, whiteboards and post-its; coffee and snacks refreshed every two hours.
• Breakout tents for parallel sessions and one-to-ones.
• Internet: fibre Wi-Fi tested at 300 Mbps, with Starlink and a mobile backup, so a dropped line does not end the day. Video calls and large uploads are normal here; remote teams from Berlin, Lisbon and Amsterdam have run full working weeks from the ridge.
• Power and Wi-Fi in every tent, so early birds and night owls work from their own porch.

The daily rhythm

A workation without structure turns into a holiday with laptops. Ours has a rhythm that people opt into:

• Morning: yoga on the platform before the first call, breakfast buffet.
• Work blocks: the dome and the platform are work-only until the late afternoon. A short neuro reset at midday, a guided break for focus and posture, is the one thing every team keeps.
• Evening: stretching, then the sauna and cold plunge under the stars (the evening sauna is free for staying guests), dinner, a campfire, a movie night or board games when it gets cold.
• Weekend: a group hike, or a jeep day to Green Lake, Khikhani fortress or the Goderdzi Pass (400-600 GEL per car).

Quiet hours start at 23:00, which is also why people are fresh at nine.

Sleeping and eating

• Twelve Lotus Belle tents, two people each (a double or two singles, wood stove, electricity, Wi-Fi), and a nine-bed dome dormitory: 33 places on the ridge, which is why our weeks are small enough that everyone knows everyone. For larger companies the seven family guesthouses in the village add 64 beds, three to ten minutes on foot.
• Two bathhouses with hot showers (no bathrooms inside the tents), towels and bedding provided, laundry 15 GEL.
• The kitchen is fully vegetarian: full board is 100 GEL per person per day, three fresh meals mostly from local ingredients; vegan and gluten-free are easy, allergies need a note in advance.

Time zone maths for distributed teams

Georgia is UTC+4 all year. A team based in Berlin or Amsterdam is two hours behind in summer, three in winter: the mountain morning is yours, European meetings land after lunch, and the day ends by 18:00 local while it is mid-afternoon at head office. For a team split between Europe and India or Dubai it is the midpoint. For US colleagues it is hard; keep the overlap window for one late call and let the rest be async.

What a week costs in 2026

Accommodation is priced per tent per night, meals per person, and the workspace and the daily programme are part of the co-living weeks. Per tent per night, sleeping two: 200 GEL in May, 268 GEL in June and September, 336 GEL in July and August, 173 GEL in October; a bed in the dorm is roughly a fifth of that.

Add transfers: a 4x4 from Batumi is 265 GEL per car (up to four people) each way, the shared shuttle from Khulo is 17.5 GEL per person, and we pool a team's arrivals into shared cars. A team that wants the whole property to itself books it as a buyout instead (2,316-4,488 GEL per night by month, see our offsite venues guide).

Minimum stay is three nights; a weekend is too short to settle in, a week is the sweet spot. Check-in from 15:00, check-out 11:00.

Themed weeks and open weeks

Some weeks are themed, like our Altitude AI Weeks: a small group of founders, engineers and builders who work on their own things by day and join hands-on AI sessions on Saturday. Other weeks are open: any remote worker or team books a tent and joins the rhythm. Companies can also take a whole week privately; then the programme is built around the team's agenda.

Practical

• Fly into Batumi (2 hours by car) or Kutaisi (about 3.5 hours). We collect you in Khulo or straight from the airport; the last stretch is a mountain road and needs a 4x4, so leave the rental car in Khulo.
• Bring a warm layer: days are warm from June to September, nights are cold even in August. Tents have stoves and heaters.
• Season 1 April to the end of October. Kids and dogs are welcome; there are two friendly resident dogs on site.
