Where to Get Married in Georgia (the Country): Best Regions for a Small Wedding, Compared (2026)

For a wedding of about 30 guests who all stay together, the Adjara mountains near Batumi are the strongest choice: whole venues such as Glamping Tago, 41-87 km from Batumi airport. Kakheti suits a September harvest wedding, Kazbegi the biggest views in a shared hotel, Tbilisi the shortest transfers.

For a wedding of about 30 guests, the region decides three things before you choose a venue: which airport your guests fly into, whether everyone can sleep in one place, and how hot or wet the day will be. Adjara (the mountains behind Batumi and the Batumi coast) gives you a venue to yourselves two hours from Batumi airport. Kakheti gives you wine estates and harvest weekends. Kazbegi and Gudauri give you the big peaks. Tbilisi and Mtskheta give you the shortest transfers, and Borjomi gives you forest and mineral water.

This guide compares all five on what matters for a small wedding: guest travel, weather by month, which venues you can book whole for 30 people, what it costs and what the weekend looks like.

Which venue fits you?

Most venues in Georgia sell an evening: a hall or a terrace for the dinner, with other guests in the hotel and your own guests spread over several hotels. A few let one group take the whole place for the weekend. This table shows which is which.

Glamping Tago (our venue), Adjara

  • Where: a ridge above Village Tago, Khulo municipality, mountainous Adjara, at 1,200 m
  • Drive: 87 km from Batumi airport, about 2 hours (how to get here)
  • Capacity: made for weddings of about 30 guests; 33 beds on site (12 Lotus Belle tents for two and a 9-bed dorm dome)
  • Price from (2026): the whole camp from 3,258 GEL a night in April to 6,035 GEL a night in July and August, 2 nights minimum, food extra
  • Season: weddings May to mid-October; the camp is open April to the end of October

The whole camp belongs to one wedding at a time, so the ceremony meadow, the sailcloth event tent on its wooden deck (15.2 x 9.7 m, about 150 m2, walls close for rain), the yurt restaurant Yurtalicious and every bed are yours for the weekend. With 2 nights minimum, most weekends run the same way: arrive on day one, marry on day two, leave after breakfast on day three. The sauna, the campfire, morning yoga, the sound system and tea and coffee all day come with the camp. Full details are on our wedding organizer page.

Which region of Georgia is best for a small wedding?

For 30 guests who should all stay together, Adjara's mountains are the strongest choice: Batumi airport is close, venues can be booked whole, and summer up high is cooler than the lowlands. Kakheti is best for a wine wedding in September and October, Kazbegi for a couple who wants the highest mountains and accepts a shared hotel, and Tbilisi for guests who only have a weekend.

Why choose Adjara for a 30-guest wedding?

In Adjara a 30-guest wedding can take a whole venue and sleep everyone there, within two hours of Batumi airport. The mountain venues are 41 to 87 km from the airport, and Batumi's seafront is right next to it, so guests can add beach days before or after.

Adjara gives you two very different weddings within an hour of each other: a mountain weekend in the valleys of Keda and Khulo, or a seaside hotel wedding near Batumi.

The Adjara mountains: Khulo and Keda

The road from Batumi runs inland towards Khulo and Akhaltsikhe. Vaio Resort (1.6 km off the road) and Chateau Iveri (0.9 km off) sit right on it; Eco House Merisi is up a side valley, 23 km longer as a detour, so it is a separate trip rather than a stop on the way. Glamping Tago sits on a ridge above Khulo, at 1,200 m, at the top of a mountain road that 4x4s and minibuses drive up.

The mountains are wetter than the coast and often in cloud (Georgia Spirit), and nights are cool even in July. That is the trade: green hills and fresh air instead of the 30 C plus heat of Tbilisi and Kakheti, with a rain plan for every ceremony.

Eco House Merisi takes a ceremony and dinner for up to 60, and its 12 cottages and 3 villas sleep up to 54, so a 30-guest wedding stays on site. The ceremony platform on the cliff edge is about 50 m2, with about 100 m2 under cover if it rains, and the full hotel buyout is priced individually (Eco House Merisi weddings). It is open all year.

Vaio Resort, about 40 minutes from Batumi, has seven wooden cottages for up to 40 guests, a restaurant for about 120, a pool, a Finnish sauna and a wine cellar (Vaio Resort). Recent reviews praise the farm-to-table food, the family's own wine and the hosts.

Two more Keda hotels host weddings. Chateau Iveri has 7 rooms and 16 beds (Georgia Travel), and Lotus Wedding puts it at 15 to 20 guests at most, so it suits an elopement better than a 30-guest wedding. Chateau Milisi has 46 rooms and 120 beds (Visit Ajara).

The Adjara coast: Batumi and Tsikhisdziri

The coast suits a couple who wants the sea, a hotel with a spa and guests who arrive the evening before and fly out the morning after. You get a seaside hotel or a city banquet hall, never a whole venue: Batumi's hotels keep running for other guests on your wedding day.

Weather is the catch. Batumi gets more than 2,000 mm of rain a year, spread over every month; May is the driest (about 88 mm) and September to December the wettest, at 230 to 250 mm a month (weather2travel). July and August highs average about 25 C with the sea at 24 to 26 C, and the air is humid: 70 to 80% is normal (Georgia Spirit).

Castello Mare in Tsikhisdziri, about 20 km north of Batumi and 29 km from the airport, has 110 rooms and 200 beds (Visit Ajara) in three buildings, Victoria, Diana and Alba, with sea-view rooms, a spa and an outdoor pool. It hosts weddings, but other hotel guests stay the same weekend.

For a planner-run seaside day, Violet Weddings starts a Batumi wedding at $650, registration without apostille at $390 (with apostille $450), a banquet for 10 from $720, a photographer from $72 an hour and a DJ from $345.

Is Kakheti good for a small wedding?

Kakheti is good for a wine wedding in September or October, when the rtveli grape harvest runs from late August into October. It is less good for keeping 30 guests to yourselves: most estates are large resorts, and a real buyout costs five figures in dollars.

The venues are 1.5 to 2.5 hours from Tbilisi. Summer is hot: July and August highs average 28 to 29 C in Telavi, May and June are the wettest months at about 126 mm each, and September settles at about 24 C with 65 mm of rain (weather2travel). On the open floor of the Alazani valley, July and August days can pass 35 C (Georgia Spirit).

Lopota Lake Resort has 310 rooms in 16 buildings (Lopota) and its own winery, Chateau Buera. Weddings start at about $3,500 (Kate&Co). Hire prices from Violet Weddings: the small pier from $755, the large pier from $2,265, the Oval hall from $5,660 and a full closure of Chateau Buera from $13,250.

Kabadoni in Sighnaghi town has 21 rooms (Kabadoni), an upper terrace for up to 30 guests and the Sunset Lounge for a dinner of up to 60 (Mandarini Wedding). Recent reviews praise the view, the staff and the breakfast.

Tsinandali Estate (Radisson Collection) is the grand option: 196 rooms (Kate&Co), an amphitheatre, the Theatre ballroom and the Mystery Room for small private dinners (Tsinandali Estate). GeoWed quotes the ceremony site and the dinner venue from 4,000 GEL each plus 18% VAT.

Kvareli Lake Resort has 100 rooms on the lake (Kvareli Lake Resort) and takes weddings of up to 200 (Lotus Wedding); GeoWed gives a ceremony site from 1,500 GEL (with 10 or more rooms booked) and a dinner venue from 5,000 GEL. Vazisubani Estate, a restored 19th-century house with 19 rooms and up to 38 guests overnight (Lotus Wedding), is one of the few Kakheti places sold whole: from $12,000 a day (Violet Weddings).

Kazbegi or Gudauri: what does a mountain wedding on the Military Highway look like?

It looks like a ceremony with Mount Kazbek behind you and a dinner indoors in a big hotel. The views are the biggest in Georgia, but the hotels that can sleep 30 are large and shared, and the weather above 1,700 m needs a plan B on every date.

Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) sits at 1,740 m, with Gergeti Trinity Church on the hill above it. July and August days reach 20 to 21 C and nights about 12 C, and June is the wettest month, with rain on 24 days in an average year (Sakhva Travel). Summer afternoons bring storms: mornings are clear, clouds build by 2 pm (Georgia Spirit). Gudauri, at about 2,000 to 2,200 m, sees 15 to 20 C on summer days and snow from early December to early April (Hawa Georgia). In winter the Gudauri to Kobi stretch of the highway shuts for hours or days when the avalanche risk is high (The Georgian Guide).

Rooms Kazbegi has 156 rooms. Banquets are indoors (a restaurant for about 80 to 100, a ballroom for up to 200), and the mountain-view terrace is not used for wedding dinners or loud parties, to protect the other guests (Lotus Wedding). May to October books six months to a year ahead, and Lotus Wedding prices a ceremony there from $3,400.

Gudauri Lodge has 121 rooms and suites at about 2,000 m beside the first ski slope (Gudauri Lodge), and Gudauri lies on the way to Kazbegi, so guests can see both. Monte Hotel in Upper Gudauri has 17 rooms (Advantour), all of which can be booked for one wedding of 50 to 60 guests (Lotus Wedding).

Tbilisi and Mtskheta: the easiest logistics, the least privacy

Around Tbilisi your guests land, drive under an hour and are at the venue. In return you get day venues: several are open to the public on other days or have no rooms, so guests sleep in city hotels and leave at the end of the evening.

July and August in Tbilisi run about 30 to 32 C by day and can pass 35 C, so May, June and late September are the comfortable months. VOWLY books Tbilisi DJs for 4 hours and no later than midnight.

Kiketi Farm is a farm park about 30 minutes from Tbilisi (Kiketi Farm). On a normal day other guests stay, eat and ride there; renting the whole location with no other visitors costs from $10,000 (Violet Weddings).

Bioli Wellness Resort in Kojori, 15 km from central Tbilisi at 1,200 m (Bioli), has 14 glass cottages and chalets for up to 40 people and takes up to 130 guests without rooms (Lotus Wedding). Chateau Mukhrani, about 45 minutes from Tbilisi, has no hotel rooms and takes 200 to 600 guests (Kate&Co); an exclusive closure starts at $10,000 and a single area such as the winery grounds at $2,500 (Violet Weddings).

Borjomi: what does a spa-town wedding look like?

Borjomi gives you a forest setting at about 800 m with summer days of about 26 C, up to 28 C in August (Sakhva Travel), and it is the one region about equally far from Tbilisi (177 km) and Kutaisi airport (147 km). The limit is the venues: big spa hotels or small forest resorts, with no published buyout for a small group.

Mountain Resort Gantiadi in Tsemi, 12 km from Borjomi, has a small hall for 40, a large hall for 150 and a 4-hectare forest park, with rooms from about 195 GEL a night (Gantiadi). Recent reviews praise the forest and the family rooms; two find the breakfast modest.

Borjomi Likani is the five-star option: a 40-hectare park, a 166 m2 hall and weddings for up to 200 (Georgia Travel).

What is the best month for a wedding in each region?

Across Georgia, mid-May to mid-June and September to mid-October are the most comfortable months (Hawa Georgia), and June and September are the most popular wedding months (Eventive). Within that, each region has its own best weeks.

How do guests get there?

Guests fly into Batumi for Adjara and into Tbilisi for Kakheti, Kazbegi, Tbilisi and Borjomi. Kutaisi, the low-cost airport of western Georgia, works for Adjara (about 2 to 2.5 hours to Batumi) and Borjomi (147 km).

Tbilisi to Batumi is 5.5 to 6 hours by road or about 4 hours by train (The Georgian Guide), so couples with guests in the east usually fly them into Batumi. Big coaches cannot reach Glamping Tago: groups come up in 15- to 17-seat minibuses and 4x4s, and the Khulo cable car is closed.

What does a 30-guest wedding cost in each region?

Planners budget EUR 6,000 to 10,000 for an intimate wedding of 15 to 25 guests (Matilda Events) and from $5,000 for 30 to 50 guests on the Adjara coast (Be Loved), and the region moves the price as much as the menu does. Kakheti packages run highest, from $12,500 for 30 guests with dinner and rooms.

What does a wedding weekend look like, region by region?

In Tbilisi, Kakheti and Kazbegi the usual shape is one evening: a ceremony at four, a banquet in a hall or on a terrace, and guests driven back to their hotels or upstairs to a shared hotel. In the Adjara mountains, a whole-venue booking turns it into a weekend with the same 30 people from the first evening to the last breakfast.

Dinner and dancing happen in the event tent

A typical Glamping Tago weekend, built from the weddings we host:

  1. Day one: guests arrive from Batumi in the afternoon, check in at 15:00, then dinner, sauna and campfire.
  2. Wedding day, 16:00: ceremony on the meadow facing the mountains (in the tent if it rains).
  3. 17:00: canapés and sparkling wine by the yurt while the couple takes photos in the golden hour.
  4. 19:00: dinner in the event tent, then cake, first dance and fireworks at 20:30.
  5. 21:00 to midnight: DJ in front of the tent, bonfire from 22:30; at midnight the party moves into the yurt so the tents can sleep.
  6. Day three: yoga on the grass, breakfast, check-out at 11:00.

How do you book a wedding in Georgia, step by step?

Book the venue first, then the registrar, then the vendors who travel to you, and the transfers last. Summer weekends go first everywhere.

  1. 8-12 months ahead: choose the region and book the venue. June to September weekends at Glamping Tago book 6 to 12 months ahead, and Rooms Kazbegi books 6 to 12 months ahead for May to October. At Glamping Tago a 30% prepayment confirms the date, with 2 nights minimum.
  2. 6-9 months ahead: decide on a legal or a symbolic ceremony. Marriage in Georgia needs no residency and has no waiting period; you need passports (other foreign documents apostilled or legalised, with a notarised Georgian translation), two adult witnesses and both partners aged 18 or over (Public Service Development Agency).
  3. 6 months ahead: book the photographer, host and DJ, and ask for the travel cost to your venue in writing.
  4. Within 2 months of the date: file the marriage application, which stays valid for 2 months (Tbilisi Expat); registration is free at a Public Service Hall without a ceremony, 75 GEL with a ceremony there, and 255 GEL when the registrar comes to your venue (GetMarried.ge).
  5. 30 days ahead: send the venue your timeline (at Glamping Tago: the timeline and mood board).
  6. 7 days ahead: confirm the food headcount and menu, and who sleeps where.
  7. After the wedding: an apostille on the marriage certificate costs 30 GEL (8th working day) up to 150 GEL (same day) (Public Service Development Agency).

In Adjara you file the application at the Public Service Hall in Batumi:

Glamping Tago for this

A mountain wedding weekend for about 30 guests at Glamping Tago

Glamping Tago is made for weddings of about 30 guests: the whole camp on a ridge above Tago village in Adjara belongs to your wedding, and everyone sleeps on site. You get the ceremony meadow facing the mountains, the event tent on its deck, the yurt restaurant Yurtalicious, the sauna and the campfire for two or three days instead of one evening.

We are Jonas and Lisa, a Belgian couple who fell in love with Georgia and opened Glamping Tago in 2021. Take the venue alone with our vendor guide, plan with our partner planner, or let us coordinate everything. See the wedding page and the organizer guide.

For 30 guests who should all stay together, the Adjara mountains: Glamping Tago and Eco House Merisi can be booked whole and sleep everyone, and Vaio Resort's seven cottages sleep 40, all 41 to 87 km from Batumi airport. Kakheti suits a wine wedding in September and October, Kazbegi a couple who wants the highest peaks and accepts a shared hotel, and Tbilisi guests who only have a weekend.

Which wedding venues in Georgia can you book exclusively for 30 guests?

Glamping Tago always books the whole camp to one wedding, with 33 beds on site. Eco House Merisi offers a full buyout on request, Vaio Resort has seven cottages for up to 40, and Monte Hotel in Gudauri sells a full room buyout. In Kakheti and near Tbilisi a whole venue costs from $10,000 to $13,250 a day (Kiketi Farm, Chateau Mukhrani, Vazisubani, Chateau Buera at Lopota).

What is the best month to get married in Georgia?

Mid-May to mid-June and September to mid-October are the most comfortable months across the country, and June and September are the most popular. In Kakheti, September adds the grape harvest; in Kazbegi, July and August are warmest but still need an indoor dinner plan; on the Batumi coast, May is the driest month.

How far are the wedding regions from the airports?

Glamping Tago is 87 km (about 2 hours) from Batumi airport, and the coast hotels 20 to 30 minutes. From Tbilisi airport, Kakheti venues are 93 to 140 km, Gudauri 135 km and Kazbegi 170 km, Bioli and Kiketi under an hour. Borjomi is 177 km from Tbilisi airport and 147 km from Kutaisi.

Can foreigners have a legal wedding in Georgia?

Yes. There is no residency rule and no waiting period; you need passports (other foreign documents apostilled or legalised with a notarised Georgian translation), two adult witnesses and both partners aged 18 or over. A registrar can marry you at the venue for 255 GEL, and the application stays valid for 2 months.

How much does a 30-guest wedding in Georgia cost?

Agency packages for 20 to 30 guests run from about $5,000 to $16,100 depending on the region, with Kakheti at the top. At Glamping Tago a June weekend for 30 guests with two nights, both dinners and breakfasts, arch and flowers, photographer, DJ, transfers and registration adds up to about 23,807 GEL.

Can we have more than 30 guests at Glamping Tago?

Yes. The camp sleeps 33, and seven family guesthouses in Tago village, 3 to 10 minutes on foot, add 64 beds in 27 rooms at 150 GEL per room per night. That is how a wedding at Glamping Tago reaches about 100 guests.

How do 30 guests get to a mountain wedding in Adjara?

By minibus and 4x4 from Batumi: a 15-seat minibus to Glamping Tago costs 410 GEL one way and a 4-seat 4x4 265 GEL, so two minibuses carry 30 guests. Big coaches cannot reach the camp, and the Khulo cable car is closed.
