We decided to write for you the best tips for outdoor recreation using the example of Glamping Tago.
*If you drive yourself we strongly recommend to only come when you have a 4×4.
The road from Tbilisi directly to Khulo is only drivable by a 4 X 4 car! We do not recommend to drive this road with an non-4X4 car.
Be sure to check if your “jeep” actually has 4X4 drive. As many car rentals in Georgia rent “jeeps” without 4X4 drive.
Khulo -> Tago: 60 GEL
Cable car -> Glamping Tago: 20 GEL
To order a shuttle text us on Whatsapp or via SMS on: +995555562483
This is in our opinion the most convenient way to get to the Glamping.
Opening hours: 9:00 – 7:00 p.m and has a break between 13h00 – 14h00.
Cost: 5 Gel
You can find more detailed information about the cable car in our blogpost:

We are happy to see that you are planning to pay us a visit at Glamping Tago! In the bellow post you’ll find all the needed information on how to get here. There are 2 options: by cable car or by road.
Note that first you need to get to Khulo center. More info on how to get there you can get by clicking on the button:
From the cable car you should be able to see the Glamping up to the right of the village. So it will be easy to navigate towards it (if there is no mist). While there are many way to get to the glamping there are 2 main roads.
This is the more direct route where you follow the ridge straight up to the glamping. While being the more beautifull route it is quite steep and is not recommended when it is raining or has rained.
After going out of the cable car and walk a couple of meters there will be and intersection where you can follow the stone road or instead go up via the hill via the wooden gate to your right. In this case you’ll have to go via the wooden gate.
There are some more wooden gates on the way which you can simply open and close after passing them.
This is the longer and more easy route. Also quite beautifull and intersting as you’ll walk trough the village and get a closer look at the traditional wooden houses.
After going out of the cable car and walk a couple of meters there will be and intersection where you can follow the stone road or instead go up via the hill via the wooden gate to your right. In this case you’ll have to go via the stone road and follow the road trough the village.
There are sign that will lead you to the view point from which you can clearly see the glamping and have to walk down a bit.
The other option is to go by road which can only be driven by a suitable car.
Time needed: 20 – 35 min (depending on experience)
Keep in mind that you’ll need an off-road vehicle in order to drive this road and we discourage people to drive the road during bad weather. This due to the fact that the road is quite narrow and can be slippery at times.
The most difficult part is to find the beginning of the road which is bit before Khulo (you can check the map to find the exact location).
You’ll first go down to the river where you’ll find an Iron bridge and then drive up trough a zigzag road all the way up to Tago. Once in Tago you can reference to the hiking route “Trough the village” or ask a local to help guide you. You should also be able to see the glamping quite fast.
When taking this way it’s best to use Maps.me or Google maps satellite.
If you’re not with your own car and would like to come to Tago by road you can always take a Taxi up to the glamping. This is a good option if you’re arriving late, have a lot of stuff or just don’t want to drive the crazy road.
You can find taxis at the cable car station and we also have a list of reliable drivers. Depending on the car you’ll pay anything between 40 – 60 lari for the transfer. While this might seem a lot for Georgia if you see the road you’ll understand. 😉
It’s also possible to hike to Tago which will take up to 2-3 hours. It’s best to use the app of Maps.me to get right directions. From khulo there are stairs that go down to the route to Tago.
