We decided to write for you the best tips for outdoor recreation using the example of Glamping Tago.
We found this place purely by accident Without really knowing that in the end, we would open glamping here. We fell in love with this place and thought that more and more people should be inspired by such views and such an atmosphere. But most importantly, we thought that it would be great if this place also brought people together! We decided to stay and have not been able to leave this place ever since.
Our goal was not to find a glamping site. The idea of creating a new tourism project here has gradually evolved. First, we wanted to build a hotel, later a hostel, but in the end, we decided that Glamping was the best option! So why did we come to this conclusion? Let’s find out together why in our opinion Tago is the ideal place for a new Glamping in Adjara.
Let’s first talk a bit about the region in general.
Glamping is a unique way of achieving unity with nature without having to deny yourself the benefits of comfort.
Today the field of tourism and hospitality offers a large selection of accommodations according to client’s needs and budgets, from luxurious hotels to modest hostels. But if you’re not just looking for a place to stay during your travels but also an opportunity to see something new, gain new experience, explore the unknown, enjoy the views and make new acquaintances – then Glamping is for you!
In general, any landscape can be a location for glamping, but we can confidently say that Adjara has a lot of potential for glamping. We’ll dive a bit deeper in this post why we chose this area and our specific spot to open Glamping Tago!
Adjara is an autonomous region of Georgia with the city of Batumi as its capital. It is already a corner of Georgia favored by tourists both in summer and winter. It is worth noting that in this relatively small part of Georgia a great natural diversity is concentrated: sea and mountains, various styles of architecture, green valleys, and vineyards. The nature of Adjara is extremely diverse due to its geographical position and complex topography, making it the ideal place for opening glamping.
Khulo was isolated from tourism and for a long time, few people were interested in this area for tourism purposes. More recently, the situation has begun to change as more and more people are discovering this hidden gem in the mountains of Adjara!
Glamping Tago is located a couple of hours’ drive from Batumi in a small village of Tago. While we didn’t choose the spot (Jonas just stumbled upon it) to open glamping we can’t deny that it’s an amazing spot for our idea!
This tiny village in the municipality of Khulo connects to the outer world by a cable car, which is known to be the fastest way of transportation from Khulo to Tago village. This cable car is the second-longest free span one in Europe. Once the cable car stops, there’s a completely new part of Georgia. It is hard to believe that only 86 kilometers away from Batumi, such an isolated and serene place exists.

The village of Tago, like many other villages in the Khulo municipality, is isolated from the outside world. Even though this place is only a couple of hours’ drive from Batumi, it is still the mountainous region of Adjara. The simple way of life is preserved here as much as possible. That’s actually what makes this place wonderful!
Tago captivated us with its incredible atmosphere. Just imagine, a small village in the mountains of Georgia with small wooden houses, preserved culture, and local customs.
Khulo, in general, has great tourism potential, wonderful resorts, beautiful nature, and historical and cultural monuments that attract many people. You can also read more about the history of this place in our post: https://glampingtago.ge/history-of-khulo/
Tago attracted our attention for the construction of the Glamping because of its views, especially the little plot we found there! The views of our plot are unique due to the fact that it’s located on a ridge. Even though the tourism business is seasonal, Tago’s stunning views will please the eye all year round no matter whether it snows or the sun shines!
Another reason that this spot is just perfect is due to the fact that it’s still connected to Khulo but at the same time isolated. This helps us diversify and target different target markets. For the glamping, we’ll have the more adventurous tourists who long for adventure. While at the same time during the day we can receive one day tourists from Batumi and even from Khulo. Making sure that the business is more resilient to changes as we can focus on different markets. On top of that, it allows us to connect different cultures and make sure our guests can fully indulge themselves in the local culture.
The main reason the spot we have is so ideal for our concept is because we have a big open space. This creates a lot of possibilities for events, workshops, groups, etc. All these things create a social atmosphere which is what Glamping Tago is all about. On top of that as noted above due to that, it’s still connected to Khulo we get people from different cultures together under one roof creating a vibrant atmosphere where ideas are shared.
Glamping Tago has a social spirit and our concept is primarily about unity. We are creating conditions to feel like part of one community of people who share the same views by interacting with both locals and the rest of our glamping guests.
Glamping Tago is a small start-up set on a mission to enhance mindful traveling, providing equal care and love to our guests, environment and team members.
We do so, by creating a comfortable space in one of the most authentic places in Adjara.
Turning it into a getaway where people can reconnect with themselves, step into adventures and begin new stories.
