Yes, you can plan a whole wedding in Georgia in Russian, from the paperwork to the last dance. Batumi and Tbilisi have hundreds of hosts, DJs, photographers, make-up artists and planners who work in Russian, registration takes about a day, and a Georgian marriage certificate is valid at home in all four countries. Russians and Ukrainians need only a translation of it; Belarusians and Kazakhs add a 30 GEL apostille in Georgia before they fly home.

This guide is for couples from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and the rest of the Russian-speaking world: the documents by citizenship, how the marriage is recognised at home, who hosts and films in Russian and what they charge in 2026, and the venues, starting with the mountains of Adjara.

Which venue fits a Russian-speaking wedding in Georgia?

It depends on the size of your list and on whether you want the place to yourselves. For about 30 guests who all sleep at the venue for a whole weekend, a private mountain camp in Adjara fits; for 100 to 200 guests, a lake resort in Kakheti or an event farm near Tbilisi does.

Glamping Tago (our venue), Adjara

Glamping Tago sits on a ridge above Village Tago in Khulo municipality, at about 1,200 m in the mountains of Adjara. The whole camp belongs to one wedding at a time: about 30 guests sleep in 12 Lotus Belle tents and a 9-bed dormitory dome, the ceremony takes place on the meadow facing the valley, and the party moves into the event tent and the yurt. A wedding books at least two nights, so it becomes a weekend with the same people rather than one evening in a banquet hall.

Our team speaks Russian, and the organizer guide for planners and couples has a full Russian version with every price. Weddings here in 2025 and 2026 had between 17 and 38 guests, among them a family wedding without alcohol for 38 people, 10 of them children. Meals come from Yurtalicious, the yurt restaurant on site: a vegetarian kitchen, with meat only as a barbecue station on request. If it rains, the ceremony moves into the yurt, and the event tent stands on a wooden deck.

Can you plan a whole wedding in Georgia in Russian?

Yes. Our own list of wedding vendors in Georgia counts 348 who work in Russian: 118 photographers, 58 planners, 53 make-up artists, 24 hosts, 21 florists, 17 videographers and 16 hair stylists, with 150 of them in Batumi and 133 in Tbilisi.

What stays in Georgian is the state side: the application form, the Public Service Hall and the certificate itself. That is why every couple needs notarised Georgian translations of the passports at the start, and a notarised Russian (or Ukrainian) translation of the certificate at the end. Translation offices and wedding agencies in Batumi and Tbilisi handle both.

What documents do Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Kazakh citizens need?

The Georgian side is the same for every nationality: a joint application, both passports, two adult witnesses with their passports, and proof that any earlier marriage has ended. You must both be 18 or older and sign in person; the Public Service Development Agency does not register a marriage through a representative. A foreigner also shows that they are in Georgia legally, which for visa-free visitors is the entry stamp.

Georgia's visa-free year for these four countries comes from Resolution 255 (Doberi keeps the list current), and since 1 January 2026 every tourist entering Georgia needs health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL under decree No. 602. Agencies list that policy as a "marriage document"; it is an entry rule, so you need it anyway.

Two practical details trip couples up. Halls accept a passport without translation only when the name is printed in Latin letters they can read, and in practice they ask for a notarised translation as soon as a name has letters Georgian lacks, such as a final -й. And the bride decides at filing whether she takes the husband's surname: the new name goes into the Georgian certificate, while the passport is changed only at home (T-Zh describes both from experience).

Will the marriage be recognised in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine?

Yes, in all four, with no second registration at home. What differs is the paperwork for the certificate.

Russia. Under article 158 of the Family Code, a marriage of Russian citizens concluded abroad under local law is valid in Russia. Russia and Georgia still apply the 1993 Minsk Convention, so a Georgian certificate needs no apostille or legalisation, only a notarised Russian translation; the Ministry of Justice lists Georgia among the countries where the 1993 Convention applies. Within one month you notify a ZAGS or a Russian consular office and attach the certificate with its notarised translation (T-Zh walks through it). The Russian Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi also registers marriages, by appointment and no sooner than one month after the joint application.

Belarus. Article 230 of the Code on Marriage and Family (Postawy.by quotes the registry office) recognises a marriage concluded abroad in the local form. Since 1 January 2025 Belarusian citizens must report it within 6 months to a ZAGS or to the Belarusian embassy, in person or by post, on the official form (Neg.by has the details). The Belarusian Ministry of Justice wants foreign civil-status documents legalised or apostilled and translated into Belarusian or Russian with a notarised translation, so apostille the certificate in Georgia for 30 GEL before you leave.

Kazakhstan. A marriage of Kazakh citizens concluded abroad under local law is valid at home (Astana Jurist). Georgia and Kazakhstan are both Minsk Convention states, so a notarised translation is the rule, but the Kazakh foreign ministry's general line asks for legalisation or an apostille on foreign civil documents (Zakon.kz). A 30 GEL apostille in Georgia settles the question before you fly home. For consular questions in Georgia, the Kazakh embassy in Tbilisi is closed on Wednesdays.

Ukraine. The 1993 Convention stopped applying to Ukraine on 29 December 2023 (Ligazakon). Diia states that a civil-status document issued abroad needs legalisation unless a ratified treaty says otherwise, plus a certified Ukrainian translation. With Georgia such a treaty exists: under article 13 of the Ukraine-Georgia legal assistance treaty, Georgian official documents are accepted in Ukraine without further certification, as the Ministry of Justice explained (DTKT). If you live in Poland or elsewhere in the EU and will use the certificate there, apostille it in Georgia for 30 GEL. The Ukrainian embassy in Tbilisi receives citizens Monday to Friday.

How does registration work, step by step?

You file the application together at a Public Service Hall (a House of Justice), wait for an SMS that the documents are ready, and sign in front of two witnesses: at the counter for free, at a Wedding House, or with a registrar who comes to your venue. Filing takes about 20 minutes, and the SMS often arrives the same day.

  1. Translate four passports (the two of you and both witnesses) into Georgian at a notary, about 30-50 GEL each, and any divorce certificate.
  2. Bring a phone that gets SMS in Georgia. The hall texts you, in Georgian, when the documents are ready.
  3. File on a weekday. Public Service Halls register marriages Monday to Friday, and an application cannot be filed weeks ahead of the trip, so plan your arrival around the working days (T-Zh learned it the hard way).
  4. Choose how you sign. The counter is free; a ceremony at a Wedding House costs 135 GEL on weekdays and 225 GEL at weekends (Natalia Mazhara lists both); a registrar who travels to your venue costs 255 GEL.
  5. Collect the certificate, apostille it if you need to (Belarus, Kazakhstan, or use in the EU), and order the notarised translation for home.

In Batumi, the old wedding palace at the entrance to the boulevard was pulled down from 25 February 2026 (Batumi Boulevard), and a new one is planned by Kaczynski Park. Until it opens, Batumi marriages are filed and registered at the Public Service Hall on Pirosmani Street, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00.

For a wedding in the mountains, couples file at the Public Service Hall in Batumi on the way up, and a registrar comes to the ceremony meadow for 255 GEL.

A church wedding on its own has no legal force in Georgia: only the civil registration counts, so a church blessing comes after it.

Who hosts a wedding in Russian, and what does a host cost in 2026?

Seven wedding hosts in Batumi and Tbilisi quoted us their 2026 packages: the entry package usually costs 1,013-1,890 GEL (typically about 1,080 GEL), and the full package around 2,970 GEL. A Russian-speaking host for six hours at Glamping Tago costs 3,000 GEL, and a partner team that brings host, DJ and sound together starts at 5,000 GEL.

A Russian-language wedding host (vedushchiy) runs the evening: the toasts, the games or no games, the timing with the kitchen and the first dance. Georgian weddings have a tamada, the toastmaster who leads the supra, and some couples with Georgian family book both.

Marina Nedvizhenko (@marina_vedet, site) hosts in Russian from Batumi, with packages of 350-1,300 USD and 150 GEL for the trip to Tago. Oleg Gaidaichuk (@gaidaichyck) is a Ukrainian host based in Georgia who works in Russian and Ukrainian.

Russian-speaking DJs, photographers, videographers and make-up artists: what do they cost in 2026?

2026 quotes from the vendors who work in Batumi and Adjara: a photographer's entry package usually costs 466-803 GEL, a videographer's 650-1,472 GEL, a DJ's 650-1,190 GEL and a bride's make-up 200-400 GEL. The trip to a mountain venue usually comes on top.

Photographers. Ksenia Kinasova shoots in Batumi with a Russian price page that starts at 200 GEL for a 30-minute shoot.

Videographers. Anton at wedding-videographer.ge has filmed weddings in Batumi, Tbilisi and the rest of Georgia since 2013, with packages of 490-1,700 USD and 100-150 USD for the trip to Tago.

Make-up and hair. A bride's make-up in Batumi usually costs 200-400 GEL, and hair 150-200 GEL. Kateryna Toftul takes bookings in Russian on her booking page. At Glamping Tago, hair and make-up for the bride costs 400 GEL with the trip from Batumi included; the groom, the mothers or the bridesmaids add 150-250 GEL each.

Which agencies plan weddings in Russian?

Most wedding agencies in Tbilisi and Batumi work in Russian, and the strongest have hundreds of Google reviews. An agency either handles only the registration (300-450 USD) or plans the whole day; a full planner usually takes 10-15% of the wedding budget.

For a wedding in Adjara, our partner planner is Natalia of Iremi Wedding: she plans in Russian and English, her fee is usually 10-15% of the whole budget, and nothing extra comes from Glamping Tago. If you would rather do it yourselves, we coordinate the vendors for a fixed 2,000 GEL per wedding, only if you ask.

Where to celebrate: which venues work with Russian-speaking couples?

Adjara gives you mountains and the sea within two hours of Batumi airport; Tbilisi and Kakheti give you big halls and lake resorts within two hours of Tbilisi.

Adjara: the mountains and the coast

Adjara is the region most guides leave out. The pros: Batumi airport is 87 km from Tago and Merisi 54 km from Batumi, guests can add a few days by the sea, and both mountain venues can be booked whole for one wedding. The cons: the last stretch to the mountain venues is narrow and steep, it rains often on the coast and in the hills, and Tbilisi guests face a long trip.

At Tago, June days usually reach about 24°C and July nights drop to about 15°C, with rain on about 14 days a month in early summer. In October days are around 18°C and nights 5-8°C, so warm layers and a rain plan belong in every invitation.

Eco House Merisi in Silibauri (Keda) is a boutique hotel with glass cottages and jacuzzis in the mountains of Keda. It has a Russian wedding page and a separate halal menu, the whole hotel can be booked for a wedding, the restaurant hall seats 50, and the cottages sleep up to 54. Merisi is a separate trip up its own side road, not a stop on the way to Tago.

Near Tbilisi

Kiketi Farm is 45 km from Tbilisi airport and under an hour from the city, with event spaces from a pavilion for 25 guests to a meadow for 200. A 50-guest wedding there cost 15,350 USD in Lotus Wedding's published example.

Kakheti

The lake resorts of Kakheti are about two hours from Tbilisi and take big weddings, but you share them with other guests. Lopota Lake Resort has 310 rooms in 16 buildings, and Kvareli Lake Resort 100 rooms with a European restaurant hall for 150.

Tsinandali Estate is the historic estate with a Radisson Collection hotel, 93 km from Tbilisi airport. Its overall Google rating is very high, but the last twelve months average 4.0, with several October 2026 reviews about service.

Kazbegi

Rooms Kazbegi in Stepantsminda is the venue most AI answers name, at about 1,740 m and 170 km (about 3 hours) from Tbilisi airport. Its last twelve months on Google average 3.8, with repeated complaints about slow service.

How do guests and vendors get to a mountain wedding in Adjara?

Fly into Batumi. Glamping Tago is 87 km from Batumi airport along the Batumi-Akhaltsikhe road through Keda, Shuakhevi and Khulo, and the last 8.9 km climb to the ridge is a 4x4 road, so guests ride up in our jeeps or a minibus.

Transfers in 2026 cost 265 GEL per 4x4 for up to 4 people or 410 GEL per 15-seat minibus, one way from Batumi; from Khulo 75 GEL per 4x4 and 135 GEL per minibus. A car for your vendors, Batumi and back, costs 530 GEL, so put the host, the DJ and the photographer in one car. Vendors charge their own trip on top otherwise. The full timetable and the options for guests driving themselves are on how to get to Glamping Tago.

What does a Russian-speaking wedding cost in Georgia in 2026?

A registration-only trip costs a few hundred dollars; a 30-guest wedding weekend at a private mountain venue with a Russian host, DJ, photographer and make-up costs in the tens of thousands of lari. These are the lines to budget.

Questions people ask

Is a marriage registered in Georgia valid in Russia?

Yes. Article 158 of the Russian Family Code recognises a marriage of Russian citizens concluded abroad under local law. The Georgian certificate needs no apostille under the 1993 Minsk Convention, only a notarised Russian translation, and you notify your ZAGS within one month.

Do Ukrainians need an apostille on a Georgian marriage certificate?

Not for use in Ukraine. Under article 13 of the Ukraine-Georgia legal assistance treaty, Georgian official documents are accepted in Ukraine without further certification; you need a certified Ukrainian translation. If you will also use the certificate in the EU, apostille it in Georgia: 30 GEL in 8 working days or 150 GEL the same day.

Do Russians or Belarusians need a certificate of no impediment to marry in Georgia?

No. Georgia asks for passports, two witnesses, notarised Georgian translations and proof that an earlier marriage ended. Kazakh citizens can get a certificate of marital capacity from a Kazakh registry, but Georgia does not ask for it either.

Can we get married in Georgia on a Saturday?

Not at a Public Service Hall: they register marriages Monday to Friday. At weekends you sign at a Wedding House for 225 GEL (Batumi's was pulled down in 2026, so this means Tbilisi), or a registrar comes to your venue for 255 GEL. File the application on a weekday first.

How much does a Russian-speaking wedding host cost in Batumi?

Entry packages usually cost 1,013-1,890 GEL and full packages about 2,970 GEL in 2026. Individual hosts quote 350-1,300 USD (Marina Nedvizhenko) to 1,000-2,000 USD (Ruslan Muginov), and the trip to a mountain venue comes on top.

Can the whole wedding at Glamping Tago be in Russian?

Yes. Our team speaks Russian, the organizer guide has a Russian version, and we work with a Russian-speaking host, DJ, photographer and make-up artist. Only the state registration and the certificate are in Georgian, with a translator or agency at your side.

How many guests fit at Glamping Tago?

The camp is made for weddings of about 30 guests: 33 people sleep on site, and the whole camp is yours for the weekend. Bigger weddings, up to about 100 guests, work with the family guesthouses in the village a few minutes below.

What if I was born in Ukraine, Crimea or Abkhazia and hold a Russian passport?

Since late 2025 the Georgian border turns back Russian citizens with these birthplaces more often. Plan for the risk: keep the date flexible, or let a guest with a different passport be a witness in reserve.
