JULY NEWSLETTER 2025

Introduction
In this newsletter we are going to talk about some improvements we’ve been working on:
- Improved Sauna with cold plunge bath
- Resurrection of our beloved bathroom building
- New huge yoga platform with the most amazing views
- Improved buffet
- New concrete road all the way to the glamping
- Event tent on the way
We have been busy! And honestly, each time I look around now I get this feeling that slowly the Glamping is really becoming how I always imagined it <3!
It’s been quite a journey getting all of this done, but with all these improvements, I can really say that we are now able to give even better service and comfort to you! The place is finally starting to feel complete!
Quick update on the business
How are things going? Actually quite good, and it’s thanks to you! It’s a bit sad to see that right now tourism is declining in Georgia due to the political situation. We are really seeing a lot of other hotels struggling to survive because of this. While as always the media is highly exaggerating the reality and Georgia is still, amazingly beautiful, still super hospitable and most important still one of the safest countries to travel to.
So well I really hope that with these few words I gave people another perspective and a more real one. Don’t get me wrong there are things going on but 99.9% of all people visiting Georgia won’t notice a thing.
Okay so many businesses/hotels are struggling right now. What about us? We are actually doing fine and it’s really because of you, there was a quite big decline in individual travellers. But because we’ve really spent a lot of energy by building relationships and always did our maximum to give the best service possible, this year is going quite good as many of you who visited us last year came or are coming again this year!
Thank you for the trust and support, it’s really thanks to you that we can keep doing what we are doing, keep having a good impact and keep making the world a bit better. It’s because of you the people in Tago can keep working and benefiting, it’s because of you that they have extra income from the local products we buy and well the list goes on.
Strangely enough in April we really didn’t see a lot of bookings which I honestly really don’t understand April is an amazing month especially to organize your retreat it has our most competitive prices and the weather is already quite good! So keep that in mind for next year please 😉
Team update
Alewyn continues his travels
Alewyn decided to leave us sadly as he decided he wants more freedom and to continue his trip to travel around Europe. We completely understand his need for adventure and freedom, and honestly we’re so grateful for everything he brought to our team. He still really loves the Glamping and is planning to come back as our yoga teacher later in the season. He’ll be forever in our heart and our doors are always open for him.
Female power: Nina & Anastasia
Right now we have some amazing new female power and energy in the team which will be a great addition to Irakli’s energy. Both of them are amazing souls and they fit perfectly within the space. They are a great addition to the practical mind of Irakli and bring a much needed feminine touch to the Glamping that really balances everything out beautifully.
Improvements
We have been busy! Hence the late newsletter 😉 Well we need to make sure we have enough interesting things to share right. You know, each year I am saying to myself we are going to take it easy and not build too much not have too many big project. Yet here we are with: an improved sauna, cold plunge pool, a huge new yoga deck and most important of all a resureccted bathroom building!
Done
Resurection of our beloved bathroom building
I am going to start with our resurrected bathroom building as for me it’s the most important one. Seeing the first guest story with our resurrected bathroom building was a healing moment, a wound that is now closed, an end to another mistake that we learned from and fixed.
So woohoo our beloved bathroom building is back!
Note: it’s not yet 100% finished we still need to do the showers but the sinks and toilets are already back and they are with even better views but most important with a stronger foundation and more protected from the wind!
New yoga deck
At your request and the support from Alex from the Prague yoga collective (if you remember her from the previous newsletter), we have built a huge new yoga outdoor deck! The deck is around 120 square meters, has the best views of the complete glamping and is just absolutely amazing even if I am saying it myself. 🙂 The best part is we can put the sailcloth tent on top of the deck so we can create a beautiful roofed space!
Improved sauna
We have also improved our sauna and added a cold plunge! There are new benches, super cozy lights, a steamer and best of all a cold plunge next to it so you can jump straight out of the sauna into cold refreshing water!
New beton road
Right now there is a concrete road all the way to the top of the glamping so you can reach us with a normal car! I do need to say that it’s still a mountain road and if you are not comfortable driving those it’s better to come with one of our drivers!
Other small improvements
Next to the above we’ve also made some small improvements, such as added more outdoor lights that now work on sensors so they turn on automatically. Next to that we’ve fixed some issues with the smart glass, added more ventilation in the kitchen, made a new washing room for our housekeeping in the resurrected bathroom building, added signs around the property so you don’t get lost, 😉 made our buffet better and many more tiny things.
News
Канатная дорога
The government finally has decided to not make a huge new project and leave our authentic cable as it is! That’s amazing news, they will now simply replace the cable and the mechanics of the cable car. Which is much better as first of all it means it will open sooner but most of all the identity of our beautiful village will be kept.
Where our focus will be the next months?
I have just returned from Georgia and spent 2 weeks “holidays” at the Glamping. I have to say it’s the first time I really felt a bit on holiday at the Glamping but still I was naive to think I could have a full holiday at the Glamping. It’s simply impossible, by the time I left I had: written down a list of almost 100 items I want to improve, made a custom app for our kitchen tablet and fixed our smart glass.
So where will our focus be in the next months? On improving all the small things for which we didn’t have the time so far, no more big constructions this year yay! Now we can really focus on the details and some of the long requested improvements.
Next to that we have 4 weddings planned in August and September! So a big part of our energy will go there. Last year we already had one but now we have four and the expectations are a lot higher, so that’s exciting and at the same time a bit stressful. The first one is next week so fingers crossed that all goes well!
In short: execute all the small improvements and make sure the weddings are the most magical possible!
When things are hard
Words that touch us
These words after the retreat of Alexei truly touched us, I was thinking to make it shorter but decided to just put the complete message here because every word is so nice. These words really make it possible for us to keep going even when things are hard. It’s exactly what keeps us motivated. <3
” Jonas and the entire team — get your translator ready, this is a long and heartfelt message 😁
We spent 8 days in Tago — and never could have imagined that we’d leave this place with such a feeling of warmth, support, and genuine happiness. This place lives because such people live in it.
You can feel that everyone on your team doesn’t just work, but loves what they do. And that changes everything.
Irakli, Nina, Alewyn— like three steady pillars that hold the space together. Reliable, sensitive, calm. With them came the feeling: if the sky suddenly falls — they’ll somehow catch it 😁 Thank you for being available 24/7, for your attention, for the feeling that we were in good hands, and for the jokes 😁
The women in the kitchen and housekeeping — that’s a separate kind of magic. Every dish prepared with love. Everything clean, beautiful, homey. They created coziness and warmth. May these women have as much rest as possible and grateful guests.
Gulnazi — our incredible love. She led us up the mountain by the hand, easily climbed a tree for gum, and gave us so much energy. And she also makes delicious jam.
Leri and Achi — true guides, calm, confident, kind. With them we felt safe everywhere — from mountain trails to river swimming.
Seryozha — our kind volunteer and teacher of straightened spines 😄Thank you to him for yoga, lightness, and care.
Even the builders seemed part of this harmonious, living atmosphere. Everyone here is family.
Jonas, thank you for the idea and implementation of your project. We didn’t meet in person, but your presence was felt: in the details, in the people, in the silence, in the care. You created not just a glamping site, but a place you want to return to.
We felt here like we were at beloved grandparents’ dacha — only in the mountains with brothers, sisters, and singing bowls 😄
Tomorrow we’re leaving with a feeling of gratitude and plans to return. We fell deeply in love with your team.
With love, warmth, and respect —
from our entire group. We embrace each of you ”
Video reviews
We started taking interviews after people’s retreats were finished because well, we can say all we want but it’s better to hear it from the other organizers that have actually visited the glamping and hear their experience from this past period. Giorgi made a collage of some of them.
Коллаборация
Hiking festival
This May, we had the pleasure of hosting the Hiking Festival organized by the wonderful Batumi hiking community! Over 200 nature enthusiasts gathered at our glamping site for a weekend filled with hiking adventures, community spirit, and celebration of the great outdoors. It was truly magical to see our special place come alive with so much energy and joy as participants explored the beautiful trails around Tago.
A huge thank you to Ratmir, Leo, Ksyusha, and the entire Hike Festival team for choosing Glamping Tago as their venue and for the fantastic collaboration. We can’t wait to welcome the hiking community back again!
To put it in their words:
“Jonas thank you very much for supporting our festival. 🤝 The kitchen is amazing as always. ❤️ The team solved all our issues very quickly for which they were specially grateful. We wish you a good season 🔥”
Anastasia Malova
We have been wanting to collaborate for such a long time with Anastasia. She teaches yoga classes in Tbilisi and has built an amazing community. Beyond that, she organizes retreats throughout Georgia, and this year we finally collaborated! The best part: at the end of the first retreat, they loved it so much they immediately decided to organize another retreat at the Glamping the same month! Thanks Anastasia, it was wonderful hosting you and we really hope we’ll be collaborating for a long time in the future!’
To put it in her words:
“We came here, and I think it was even more than what we expected. I think that the best part with working with you guys is that you always stay in touch and we can ask you all questions and you always help us. That’s I think the best part because it’s very rare. “
Personal update
While staying at the Glamping for our holidays, I realized that I am taking too many things on my plate.
The past years I have been working really hard to get the Glamping on its feet and make it a sustainable project, while at the same time Lisa has been studying/working in order to get her medical degree. Both were not easy and far from smooth. For the Glamping I can truly say that each step in the process was hard and I probably made all the mistakes one can make. 🙂 Lisa’s studies resulted in a quite severe burnout and a break of 1.5 years. So well, it wasn’t easy and right now we are nearing the end, Lisa has 6 months to go and the Glamping is finally getting to the level I dreamed it to be (after 8 years).
Right now we were thinking of/planning to open a new retreat center in Georgia in the coming years and while I am super excited for this new project, I realized we first need to breathe.
Before jumping on a new project where we’ll push ourselves we first want to sit down for a bit, breathe, reflect and just be for a bit.
Next to that Tago is really my baby and I have a really difficult time to let it go, hell I even got a new tattoo თაგო (tago) on my arm. Plus that list of 100 items isn’t going to execute itself hehe. In short I am not yet ready to move on and I am going to take my time to do so. When I am ready, I’ll know.
