# Glamping in Georgia (the country): the complete 2026 guide

Source: https://glampingtago.ge/blog/glamping-in-georgia · Updated 2026-10-11 · Glamping Tago

## TL;DR

- Georgia's glamping clusters are mountainous Adjara behind Batumi, the villages around Mtskheta and west of Tbilisi, Racha around Ambrolauri, Kakheti around Sighnaghi, and the Kazbegi valleys. A unit for two costs 120 to 450 GEL a night.
- Most sites run May to October and the high ones June to September. Glamping Tago is open 1 April to the end of October, and the road beyond Oni in Racha closes with the first heavy snow, usually by the end of October.
- Geodesic domes almost always have a private shower and toilet. Canvas bell tents usually do not: at Glamping Tago the showers and toilets are in a shared block under the half-dome, with hot water, a hairdryer and bathrobes.
- Your own tent costs 5 GEL per person on a national park site, with a tent to hire at 10 GEL and a bed in a park shelter at 20 GEL. Wild camping is legal outside private property, and inside a park you pitch on the designated sites only.
- A marshrutka reaches the nearest town for 10 to 35 GEL, cash only. The last 10 to 30 km is a taxi or a transfer: Khulo to Village Tago is 75 GEL per car, Stepantsminda to Juta from 60 GEL.
- A normal car reaches Jewelberry, Mindori, Hill Inn, Eco House Merisi, Signagi Glamping and Sairme. No car at all reaches Zeta Camping above Juta, and the direct road from Khulo up to Glamping Tago needs a 4x4 (the Skhalta valley way suits a normal car).

Georgia has glamping in nearly every region, from canvas tents at 1,200 m in the Adjara mountains to geodesic domes 50 minutes from Tbilisi. Here is every site worth booking in 2026, what a night costs, what is inside the tent, when each one opens and how you reach it from Batumi, Kutaisi and Tbilisi.

## What is glamping, and how is it different from camping or a guesthouse?

Glamping is a tent somebody else has already pitched, with a real bed inside it, power, and a stove. You turn up with a suitcase instead of a rucksack full of gear, and you sleep under canvas for a price that sits between a village guesthouse and a mountain hotel.

In Georgia it comes in three shapes: a canvas bell tent on a wooden platform, a geodesic dome with a glass front, and a small wooden cabin that the owner markets as a glamp. [Lotus Belle](https://uk.lotusbelletents.com/en-global), the maker behind most of the bell tents in the country, builds them 4 m and 5 m across. Domes are the newer arrival and usually come in small numbers: [Jewelberry](https://jb.camp/georgia) near Mtskheta runs ten, [Mindori](https://mindori.club/en-gb/) four.

What separates the four ways of sleeping outdoors here is the bathroom, the heating and who carries the gear.

| | Your own tent | Glamping tent | Village guesthouse | Mountain hotel |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| A night for two | 5-10 GEL a pitch | 120-450 GEL | 30-40 GEL a room | 200-300 GEL |
| Bed | Your mat | Made up, usually a double | Made up | Made up |
| Bathroom | A park block or the bushes | Private in a dome, shared at most tent sites | Shared or private | Private |
| Heat | Your sleeping bag | Wood stove, gas or electric | Wood stove or radiator | Central heating |
| Season | Whenever the road is open | May to October, a few sites longer | All year in the valleys | All year |
| What you carry | Everything | Clothes | Clothes | Clothes |

Pitch, guesthouse and hotel prices follow the [Caucasus Trekking](https://www.caucasus-trekking.com/general/prices) price list and the [Agency of Protected Areas](https://apa.gov.ge/en/eco-tourism/servisebi-da-tarifebi/mtiralas-erovnuli-parki) tariffs. The glamping band runs from [Ajara Glamping](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/29) at 120 GEL a night to the [Hill Inn tents](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/27) at 300-450 GEL.

> **Good to know:** A dome is not automatically better than a tent. A dome has its own bathroom and air conditioning, and it turns into a greenhouse on a hot August afternoon on the coast. A canvas tent at 1,200 m breathes, and it needs a stove after dark.

## Where can you go glamping in Georgia (the country)?

Almost everywhere except the far eastern steppe. The clusters are the mountains behind Batumi in Adjara, the villages west and north of Tbilisi, Racha around Ambrolauri, Kakheti around Sighnaghi, Guria and Imereti in the middle of the country, and the high valleys at Kazbegi.

Adjara has the most choice, and the [official Adjara tourism guide](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels) gives glamping a category of its own, from the domes above Kokotauri and the Hill Inn tents in Keda to Mtirala Glamping near Kobuleti. Read the word loosely everywhere in the country: plenty of places sold as glamping are wooden cottages or hotel rooms with a view, so check what the unit is before you book.

The sites in this guide are the ones that are open, rate 4.3 or better with at least 20 Google reviews, and can be reached and booked.

| Region | You arrive at | Drive from there | In this guide | Season |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Mountainous Adjara | Batumi | 1 to 2.5 hours | Glamping Tago, Eco House Merisi, Hill Inn, Ajara Glamping | April to October |
| Coastal Adjara | Batumi | 20 to 40 minutes | Mtirala Glamping, Calypso Kvariati, Eagle Nest | April to October |
| Guria and Imereti | Batumi or Kutaisi | 1 to 1.5 hours | Komli, Shromantic Garden, Dumbo Eco Camp, Sairme Glampings | May to October |
| Racha | Kutaisi | 2 to 2.5 hours | Glamping Georgia, Krikhi | Late June to mid-October |
| Tbilisi and Shida Kartli | Tbilisi | 45 minutes to 1 hour | Mindori, Jewelberry | All year at the lower sites |
| Kazbegi and Juta | Tbilisi | 3 to 4 hours | Zeta Camping, Kazbegi Glamping | June to October |
| Kakheti | Tbilisi | 1.5 to 2 hours | Signagi Glamping, Lost Ridge Inn | April to November |

## Which glamping sites are in Adjara and the mountains behind Batumi?

Adjara has the deepest choice in the country, and the mountain sites all hang off one road: the Sh1 from Batumi up the Adjaristsqali valley through Keda and Shuakhevi to Khulo, then over the Goderdzi pass at 2,025 m. They sit on side roads off that valley at between 500 m and 1,200 m, which is why a drive that looks like an hour on the map takes two.

### Glamping Tago

Where: the ridge above Village Tago, Khulo municipality, at 1,200 m with 2,000 m peaks around it. Drive from Batumi: 92.4 km and 2.5 to 3 hours, and the road up from Khulo needs a 4x4, 30 to 35 minutes in the taxi. Capacity: 12 [Lotus Belle](https://uk.lotusbelletents.com/en-global) tents for two plus a nine-bed dome dormitory, 33 beds. Price: it changes with the date, so check [today's prices](https://glampingtago.ge/book?from=blog_text). Season: 1 April to the end of October. Good for: a real mountain night with a wood stove, a vegetarian kitchen and walks that start at the gate. Watch out for: a normal car does not make the direct road up from Khulo (the longer Skhalta valley way is easier), and there is no toilet or shower inside the tents.

Each tent has a wood-burning stove with the wood included, a gas heater, a double bed that splits into two singles, a sofa, a carpet, sockets, light, linen, towels and earplugs. The [shared bathroom block](https://glampingtago.ge/glamping) sits under the half-dome, with hot water, heating, shampoo, a hairdryer, bathrobes and mirrors, and the shower glass switches between view mode and privacy mode. The [sauna tent with its cold plunge](https://glampingtago.ge/activities/sauna-cold-plunge/) is lit every evening between 20:00 and 22:00 and takes 10 people a round, the sauna is free for staying guests, and morning yoga and the campfire are included, and [five marked walking routes](https://glampingtago.ge/tours) start at the camp, from a two-hour village loop to a monastery in the next valley.

> **Glamping Tago** (Village Tago, Khulo municipality (Adjara)) - our venue
> Ours, and the first entry in this list: 12 Lotus Belle tents for two plus a nine-bed dome at 1,200 m, wood stoves, a shared bathroom block under the half-dome, a vegetarian yurt restaurant and a sauna tent lit every evening. The direct road up from Khulo needs a 4x4, and there is no toilet or shower inside the tents.

> Pros: Lotus Belle tents with wood stoves and real beds; A sauna tent lit every evening, with the sauna free for staying guests, and a vegetarian yurt restaurant; A quiet ridge at 1,200 m above Village Tago
> Cons: No toilet or shower inside the tents: a shared bathroom block; The direct road up from Khulo needs a 4x4; Closed November to March

> **Good to know:** Seven families in Village Tago rent [rooms next door to us](https://glampingtago.ge/local-guesthouses): 27 rooms with 64 beds, three to ten minutes on foot from the camp, plus about 60 camping spots. Guests staying in the village still use the morning yoga, the sauna, the campfire and the restaurant, which is how a group bigger than 33 sleeps in one place.

### Eco House Merisi

Where: village Silibauri in the Merisi valley, Keda district, at about 850 m. Drive from Batumi: 54.1 km and about 1h10. Good for: glass-walled cottages with panoramic jacuzzis, a wood stove in the room and a restaurant with a halal menu. Watch out for: it is a hotel with a view rather than a canvas night, a few guests find the restaurant ordinary, and there is no shop anywhere near, so bring what you need.

At 4.9 from more than 1,500 reviews it has more ratings than any other stay in this guide, which also means it is busy. Two managers answer [the phone](https://ecohousemerisi.com/contact/) between 10:00 and 20:00, and reception runs 09:00 to 21:00.

### Hill Inn Luxury Glamping & Treehouses

Where: above Dandalo in Keda at 725 m. Drive from Batumi: 64.3 km and about 1h25, reachable in a normal car. Price: [300-450 GEL a night](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/27) for a tent or a tree house, and [400 GEL](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/972) for a two-room cottage with four beds. Capacity: tents, tree houses and cottages. Good for: an outdoor pool, a spa zone in the woods with a sauna and an outdoor bath, an amphitheatre for the bonfire, a home cinema and a small library, and meals cooked on site and carried to your door. Watch out for: booking messages go unanswered often enough that guests complain about it, so phone rather than write.

[Its own site](https://www.hillinn.ge/) and its Instagram both push you towards a direct message, and the Instagram account has not posted since August 2025. The [official Adjara listing](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/972) publishes two more numbers, +995 574 19 91 11 and +995 591 98 93 76, to try when the first one does not pick up.

### Mtirala Glamping

Where: Chakvistavi, at the gate of [Mtirala National Park](https://apa.gov.ge/en/eco-tourism/servisebi-da-tarifebi/mtiralas-erovnuli-parki). Drive from Batumi: 26.1 km and 36 minutes, the closest glamping to the city. Good for: an air-conditioned dome with panoramic windows and its own shower and toilet, a small hydromassage pool, a sauna and a barbecue, with pets allowed. Watch out for: the access road is rough and guests keep saying so, the last stretch from the taxi is a climb up steep steps, and the [official Adjara listing](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/1079) registers a single unit with two beds, so it is booked or it is not.

> **Mtirala Glamping** (Chakvistavi, Kobuleti municipality (Adjara))

### Ajara Glamping, Kokotauri

This is the one glamping genuinely on the Batumi to Khulo road, and it is the one we cannot recommend. The domes sit above Kokotauri in Keda at about 500 m, 58.6 km from Batumi, and the [official Adjara database](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/29) prices a night at 120 GEL, the cheapest real glamping in the valley. Several guests thank the hosts and call the quiet perfect. Others describe a broken bathroom, poor bedding, dead outside lights, a weak breakfast and a very steep unpaved climb that ordinary cars struggle with. Its Instagram has not posted since April 2025.

> **Ajara Glamping** (Kokotauri, Keda (Adjara))
> Named because it is the only glamping actually on the Batumi to Khulo road and the cheapest in the valley at 120 GEL. Recent reviews report a worn bathroom and bedding, a weak breakfast and a very steep unpaved climb, and its Instagram has not posted since April 2025.

### Hotel Khulo Inn

Not a glamping, and the most useful bed in the valley for anyone arriving without a 4x4. It is a family-run house in the traditional Adjaran oda style at 11 M. Abashidze Street in Khulo itself, [140 GEL a night](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/1028) for 9 rooms and 21 beds, with a bar, a conference hall, free wifi, parking and balconies over the valley. Drive from Batumi: about 85 km of asphalt, no 4x4 needed. It takes cash only; book on +995 511 20 91 35 or +995 577 30 26 23.

> **Watch out:** Only one of these is actually on the way anywhere. Measured on the road with each site as a stop on a Batumi to Khulo drive, Ajara Glamping adds 2.9 km and 10 minutes. Hill Inn adds 8.3 km and half an hour, Eco House Merisi 23.3 km and 38 minutes, and Mtirala Glamping 48 km and more than an hour. Each of those is its own trip, not a stop on the way up the valley.

### Sleeping near the sea instead

Two places above Batumi work when you want the coast and a bit of nature rather than a tent. [Calypso Kvariati](https://www.visitbatumi.com/en/catalog/kalifso-kvariati) is 17.5 km and 24 minutes south of Batumi, open April to October around the clock, and the official Batumi catalogue lists it with breakfast, parking, credit cards and a transfer service; staff speak Georgian, English and Russian. What guests remember is the infinity pool and the 470 steep concrete steps down to the beach, which have no railings. Eagle Nest is a small nature hotel above Batumi with two pools, one hot and one cold, and a sea view, 12.5 km by road, and it is reached through Instagram and Telegram rather than a website. It also hosts DJ day parties and night events, so ask what is on before you book a quiet night.

Neither is glamping. On the coast itself the tent sites are thin, and the closest real glamping to the city is Mtirala Glamping, 26.1 km up in the hills.

## Where do you eat around the Adjara mountain glampings?

Up on the ridge there is one kitchen, and down in the valley you eat in Khulo.

### Yurtalicious, the restaurant at Glamping Tago

Our own yurt restaurant, fully vegetarian, cooked fresh each morning by women from the village: a breakfast buffet from 09:00 to 11:00 at 32 GEL, an a la carte lunch from 13:00 to 16:00 of Georgian salads, sinori and Adjarian khachapuri, and a dinner buffet from 19:00 to 21:00 at 37 GEL, eaten together at one long table. It seats 24 at the table and up to 32 with the extra tables, and at 5.0 from 67 reviews it is the highest-rated place to eat in the valley. Hikers and day visitors can book a table, and guests are asked not to bring their own food and drink.

Everywhere else in upper Adjara, plan around Khulo. [Khulo, Keda and Goderdzi have the supermarkets, pharmacies and ATMs](https://glampingtago.ge/blog/mountainous-adjara), and Khulo has the last fuel before the pass, because there is none on the Khulo to Zarzma stretch. The guesthouses in the villages cook for their own guests rather than running a restaurant. Our [Green Lake guide](/blog/green-lake) names the khinkali house halfway up the valley if you are driving from Batumi.

## Is there glamping in Racha, and is it worth the drive?

Yes, and the region has the best-run tent site in Georgia, but Racha is a long way from everywhere and its season is short.

### Glamping Georgia, Krikhi

Where: Krikhi near Ambrolauri, in the Racha hills at 612 m. Drive: 104.2 km and about 1h45 from Kutaisi airport, 263 km and about 3h45 from Tbilisi. Capacity: twelve tents, up from the two it opened with in June 2018. Good for: a terrace, mini kitchen, private bathroom, air conditioning, wifi and a projector in every tent, a heated pool, room service, and an owner, Teona, who answers online fast and cooks well. Watch out for: no shops nearby, and a tiring flight of steps up to the tents, so travel light.

Racha's season is the real constraint. [The road beyond Oni closes with the first heavy snow](https://thegeorgianguide.com/destinations/racha-guide/), usually by the end of October, and the upper villages stay snowbound until spring; lower Racha around Ambrolauri is reachable all year but goes quiet in winter, with many guesthouses and cafes shut. Come between late June and mid-October. Giorgi Isakadze, who founded the site at Krikhi, told BM.GE that [2026 started late, that poor summer weather held visitors back and that the place filled mainly in August](https://moderncampground.com/europe/georgia-europe/racha-glamping-operator-reports-shortened-tourist-season-in-2026): "Previously the active period lasted around six months, with approximately three months being particularly busy. Now that period has effectively fallen to one month."

Getting there without a car is possible but slow. A marshrutka from the Chain Bridge stand in Kutaisi is 12 GEL to Ambrolauri and 15 GEL to Oni, leaving about 10:00 and 14:00 and taking 2 to 2.5 hours; Kutaisi central bus station runs the same trip for 15-20 GEL, and [from Tbilisi it is 30-35 GEL](https://thegeorgianguide.com/destinations/racha-guide/) with one or two vans a day, about 8:00 and mid-afternoon. A taxi is 120-150 GEL from Kutaisi and 160-200 GEL from Tbilisi, agreed before you get in. [Vanilla Sky](https://ticket.vanillasky.ge/en/node/51) also flies Natakhtari to Ambrolauri for 50 GEL one way, 35 GEL for a child aged 3 to 12 and free for an infant.

## Which glamping sites are in the high Caucasus, at Kazbegi and Juta?

Two, at very different altitudes, and both are summer-only. This is the region with the best mountains and the weakest glamping supply in Georgia.

### Zeta Camping, Juta

Where: above Juta village at the foot of the Chaukhi massif, at 2,270 m, the highest camp in this guide. Drive: 164.2 km and about three hours from Tbilisi to Juta, then the last stretch on foot. Capacity: glamping huts, wooden cottages and space for your own tent. Season: June to October. Good for: hot showers, a kitchen and bar that hikers rate highly, and a position right on the route to the Chaukhi pass, whose seven rock towers rise to 3,842 m. Watch out for: no car reaches the camp, so you carry your luggage a few hundred metres up a hiking trail; pets are not allowed; and reviewers call the food average and the plain tent interiors expensive for what they are.

[Zeta's own site](https://zeta.ge/) has not been touched since 2018, so use the phone. From Stepantsminda it is 20.6 km to Juta, 30 to 40 minutes up an unpaved side valley off the turn at Sno, from 60 GEL one way or 100 to 120 GEL for a return with three or four hours of waiting; there is no public transport up that valley, and a shared minibus runs from Stepantsminda at 09:30 and back at 17:00 with a minimum of five passengers.

> **Watch out:** The last 2.6 km into Juta [has been officially closed since the road partly collapsed in June 2025](https://thegeorgianguide.com/hiking/juta-chaukhi-pass-trek/), and repairs run through 2026. Transfers drop you at the barricade, from where it is a 40-minute walk up the road into the village, or a local taxi on the far side takes you the rest of the way for 40 GEL. Ask your driver which side of the barricade the fare ends at.

> The highest camp in this guide at 2,270 m, on the route to the Chaukhi pass, with hot showers and a kitchen hikers rate. ### Kazbegi Glamping

Named here because people search for it, not because we recommend it: 4.7 stars from only 19 Google reviews, under the 20-review bar we use for everything else in this guide. Guests praise the view over Mount Kazbek and the cleanliness. They also report a rough unsignposted access road, cash-only payment, a noisy water pump and insects outside. Bookings run through its Instagram rather than a website.

## What about Kakheti, Imereti, Guria and Svaneti?

Kakheti has the most comfortable glamping outside Tbilisi, Guria and Imereti have the most interesting small farms, and Svaneti, for all its fame, has nothing that meets the bar.

### Signagi Glamping, Kakheti

Where: on the hillside between the 18th-century Sighnaghi fortress and the Alazani valley, looking across to the Greater Caucasus. Drive from Tbilisi: 110.5 km and about 1h45. Capacity: double rooms, some with a private hot tub. Good for: sunrise and sunset from the same terrace, and the old town a few minutes away. Watch out for: it trades as Interstellar Glamping, which is the name on its social accounts, and [its own site](https://www.signagiglamping.ge/) lists a different number, +995 591 21 21 11, from the one on its map entry.

### Lost Ridge Inn, Brewery & Ranch

Where: a ridge above the Alazani valley at Kedeli, 4.1 km and six minutes from Signagi Glamping, so the two share one valley and the same wineries. Capacity: limited, and they ask for reservations well ahead. Good for: yurts, the inn's own brewery, which makes beer with wine and with persimmon, horse riding with local guides for all levels, a 2 km walk into Sighnaghi, and a campfire where guests, staff and dogs end up in the same conversation. Watch out for: it is out of town, rooms are small, and breakfast splits opinion: one recent guest found it thin, another called the Georgian spread superb.

Kakheti is also where the hotel alternative is strongest, which is worth knowing before you book a tent. [Chateau Mere](https://chateaumere.ge/) near Telavi is 86.9 km and about 1h35 from Tbilisi at 4.4 from 890 reviews, and [Lopota Lake Resort](https://lopotaresort.com/) at Napareuli is 115.4 km and about 2h10 away, a four-season resort of 310 rooms in 16 buildings rather than anything like camping.

### Sairme Glampings, Imereti

Where: at the Sairme mineral-water resort in Baghdati municipality at 947 m, 700 m from the springs. Drive: 69.1 km and about 1h10 from Kutaisi airport, which makes it the closest glamping to that airport. Capacity: five units with heating, air conditioning, private bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Good for: a hillside garden, a big car park and easy access by road. Watch out for: the breakfast the listing promises is not always served, a 2026 guest calls the domes outdated for the price, the internet is weak, and [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/sairmeglampings) is the only booking channel.

[Shromantic Garden](https://www.shromanticgarden.com/) is a boutique guesthouse at Shroma, 56.9 km and about 1h05 from Batumi, with a covered yoga deck, a vegetarian kitchen and one off-grid forest cabin. Breakfast is in the room rate, lunch and dinner cost extra, vegan food is arranged on request, most rooms have a private bathroom and the forest cabin uses the block in the main house. [Dumbo Eco Camp](https://ozurgetilag.ge/en/dumbo-eco-camp/) is the alpine option: a meadow camp in the Gomi forest by the Bzhuzhi river at Shekhvedomedi above Ozurgeti, 58.9 km and about 1h15 from Batumi, sleeping 14 between tents and two new wooden cottages. Lika Dumbadze built it, the kitchen and dining area are new and built to food-safety standards, and a glass-walled veranda opens onto the forest. ### Svaneti, honestly

Svaneti is the most photographed mountain region in Georgia and it has no glamping worth sending you to. What Svaneti does have is guesthouses, and getting there is cheap: [Vanilla Sky](https://ticket.vanillasky.ge/en/node/51) flies Natakhtari to Mestia for 90 GEL one way, 63 GEL for a child aged 3 to 12, and Mestia to Kutaisi for 50 GEL.

## Which glamping sites are near Tbilisi and Mtskheta?

Two, and they are the easiest glamping in the country to reach: both are under an hour from the capital on asphalt, and both work in a normal car.

### Mindori Glamping

Where: Kavtiskhevi in Shida Kartli, the first glamping in the region. Drive from Tbilisi: 48.2 km and about 55 minutes on the road, with Gori about the same distance the other way. Capacity: four dome houses, each with a king-size bed, a second bed on the mezzanine, a bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette. Good for: a private wood-fired furako per dome, a summer pool, a barbecue patio, a playground, horse riding and dogs, and breakfast sets cooked fresh by host Anna. Watch out for: it has no public phone, so book through [mindori.club](https://mindori.club/en-gb/) or Instagram, and a 30-minute horse ride for two is a separate 100 GEL.

Every recent review is from the 2026 season and they are uniformly warm, which is rare. It is pet-friendly, and guests arrive with big dogs.

### Jewelberry Glamping Hotel

Where: the Shuaguli garden between the Aragvi and Ksani rivers, 9 km from Mtskheta. Drive from Tbilisi: 33.5 km and about 50 minutes; the airport is 49.3 km away. Capacity: ten geodesic domes of 28 and 38 m2, up to 4 guests each on a 180x200 bed plus a 140x200 loft bed. Good for: a private Japanese furako barrel or jacuzzi at every dome, a sauna, a pool, free guarded parking, wifi across the site and a restaurant open 11:00 to 24:00 in summer. Watch out for: the ten domes share one site with a 50-person party dome that is booked for weddings and birthdays, the restaurant opens in summer only, and [jb.camp](https://jb.camp/georgia) is a management company building a chain rather than a single owner-run place.

Every dome has a toilet with a shower cabin, a mini kitchen with fridge and kettle, a mini bar, air conditioning and a terrace with a gazebo. Check-in is 15:00 and check-out 12:00, cash, Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer all work, and they will arrange a transfer from the city or the airport.

## What does glamping in Georgia cost in 2026?

A two-person glamping unit runs 120 to 450 GEL a night, and the spread inside that band is about the bathroom and the view rather than the region. Your own tent on a national park site costs 5 GEL per person, and a village guesthouse room costs 30 to 40 GEL, so glamping is the expensive way to sleep outdoors and the cheap way to sleep somewhere spectacular.

### 2026 prices

| What | Price | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ajara Glamping, Kokotauri | 120 GEL | The cheapest real glamping in the Khulo valley |
| Hill Inn tent or tree house for two | 300-450 GEL | Four-bed cottage 400 GEL |
| Komli cedar barrel for two | 140 GEL | 160 GEL with breakfast |
| Glamping Tago | [today's prices](https://glampingtago.ge/book?from=blog_text) | Rates move with the date |
| Hotel Khulo Inn | 140 GEL | 9 rooms, 21 beds, cash |
| Campsite in a national park | 5 GEL per person | Tent hire 10 GEL, sleeping bag or backpack 5 GEL, foam mat 3 GEL |
| Bed in a park tourist shelter | 20 GEL per person | 10 GEL for pupils and students; 30 GEL at the named Borjomi shelters |
| Camping in a guesthouse garden | 5-10 GEL | Includes the indoor toilet and shower |
| Guesthouse bed | 15-20 GEL per person | Private room 30-40 GEL |
| Breakfast and dinner at Glamping Tago | 32 GEL and 37 GEL | Buffet, vegetarian |
| Hiking guide from Glamping Tago | from 150 GEL | Five marked routes; the trails are free to walk |
| 4x4 Khulo to Village Tago | 75 GEL per car | Up to 4 people, 30-35 minutes |
| Private transfer to Glamping Tago | 265 GEL from Batumi | Kutaisi 465 GEL, Tbilisi 925 GEL, Akhaltsikhe 360 GEL, per car |
| Marshrutka Batumi to Khulo | about 10 GEL | Every 30 minutes, 08:00-20:00, 2h30 |
| Marshrutka Tbilisi to Stepantsminda | 20 GEL | 3 to 3.5 hours, 5 GEL more for a big bag |
| Taxi Stepantsminda to Juta | from 60 GEL one way | 100-120 GEL return with 3-4 hours of waiting |
| Train Tbilisi to Batumi | from 35 GEL economy | About 4 hours |
| Flight Natakhtari to Ambrolauri | 50 GEL one way | 35 GEL for a child aged 3-12, infants free |
| Goderdzi ski pass | from 30 GEL a day | Late December to the end of March |
| Magti SIM | 10 GEL | 5 GB for 30 days 12 GEL, unlimited 10 GEL a week or 35 GEL a month |

Fuel is the other line if you drive. For everything else, the marshrutka rule of thumb, [3 to 5 GEL per hour of travel](https://www.caucasus-trekking.com/general/prices), is the quick way to sanity-check any fare somebody quotes you.

> **Cost:** Public transport makes the trip, not the tent, the cheap part. Batumi to Khulo is about 10 GEL a seat and the 4x4 from Khulo up to Village Tago is 75 GEL for the whole car, so two people reach a mountain glamping for under 100 GEL each way between them.

## What is actually inside a glamping tent, and is there a toilet and a shower?

Every site in this guide gives you a made-up double bed, electricity, a light, somewhere to put your bag and heating of some kind. The bathroom is the part that changes, and it is the biggest single difference between one Georgian glamping and the next.

Domes almost always have their own shower and toilet. [Jewelberry](https://jb.camp/georgia)'s domes of 28 and 38 m2 each have a toilet with a shower cabin, a mini kitchen and air conditioning; every tent at [Glamping Georgia in Krikhi](https://www.glampingeorgia.com/) has a private bathroom, a terrace, a mini kitchen and a projector; Mtirala Glamping and Mindori are the same story.

Canvas bell tents usually do not. At our own site the tents hold a wood-burning stove with the wood included, a gas heater, a double bed that splits into two singles, a sofa, a carpet, sockets, light, linen, towels, a shoe rack and earplugs, and [the showers and toilets are in a shared block](https://glampingtago.ge/glamping) under the half-dome with hot water, heating, shampoo, a hairdryer, bathrobes and mirrors. Zeta Camping at 2,270 m has hot showers and proper bathrooms for the camp, not for each hut.

> **Watch out:** Aggregator listings get this wrong constantly. Third-party pages sell our Lotus Belle tents as tents with a shower and toilet inside, and the [official Adjara database](https://visitajara.com/public/en/hotels/930) still lists us as 10 rooms with 29 beds rather than 12 tents, a nine-bed dorm and 33 beds. Ask the site directly, or read its own page, before you book a tent expecting a private bathroom.

## Do glamping tents get cold at night, and how are they heated?

Yes, and that is the question our guests ask more than any other, in English and Russian alike. At 1,200 m a +25 C day turns into a night near 8 C, and at Juta's 2,270 m it drops towards zero even in July.

Heating is a wood stove, a gas heater, an electric heater or all three. A wood stove needs refuelling every three or four hours, which is why people wake up cold in a tent that was warm at midnight. Running a canvas site through the winter means insulating the platform, fitting an inner tent and installing a proper heating system, and most Georgian sites do none of that, which is why the season ends in October.

Practical version: bring a warm layer and a hat for the evening even in August, ask for extra blankets when you check in rather than at midnight, and if the tent has a wood stove, put one more log in before you sleep.

## Is there wifi, and can you work from a glamping tent?

At most sites, yes for email and no for a video call. Mountain guesthouse and glamping wifi is one shared line, and in high season it crawls.

The reliable fix is mobile data. [Magti](https://www.magticom.ge/en) has [the widest reach in the mountains](https://thegeorgianguide.com/practical-info/sim-cards-internet/), at 99 percent of populated areas including most of Kazbegi and Svaneti: a SIM or eSIM costs 10 GEL with your passport, 5 GB for 30 days is 12 GEL, and unlimited data is 10 GEL a week or 35 GEL a month. [Silknet](https://silknet.com/en) is a fair second and patchier high up. Signal still dies on the passes and [is unreliable between Khulo and Goderdzi](https://glampingtago.ge/blog/mountainous-adjara), so download your offline maps in the city.

The exception worth naming is a proper line. Our own [co-working space](https://teambuilding.glampingtago.ge/) runs Starlink wifi tested at 300 Mbps, with power, screens and whiteboards, which is what makes a video call from 1,200 m work at all. In the tents there is wifi for messages and email, and Magti data as the backup.

## When is the glamping season in Georgia, month by month?

Most tent sites run May to October, the high ones June to September, and the valley sites a little longer at both ends.

| Month | What is open |
| --- | --- |
| April | Low Adjara, Kakheti and the Tbilisi sites; Glamping Tago opens on 1 April; high passes shut |
| May | The foothill parks and Mtirala; Racha's upper villages still snowed in |
| June | Everything, including Juta and the Goderdzi pass; rain and fog are common in the western mountains |
| July | Full season, booked out, and hot in a coastal dome |
| August | Full season; the mountain sites are the comfortable ones |
| September | The best month: warm days, cold nights, clear air, empty roads |
| October | Autumn colour, cold nights; the road beyond Oni in Racha closes with the first snow |
| November | Coastal and low sites only; Glamping Tago is open until the end of October and then shuts |
| December to March | Glamping is over; [Goderdzi](https://goderdzi.ski/) runs its ski season from late December to the end of March, with 8.4 km of runs between 1,724 m and 2,366 m and a pass from 30 GEL a day |

Our own season runs 1 April to the end of October, and the [phone-free Digital Detox week](https://glampingtago.ge/digital-detox) from 26 October to 1 November 2026 is the last thing on the calendar before the mountain shuts for winter: six nights, all meals, yoga, talks and the sauna included, EUR 600 for a dorm bed, EUR 810 for a bed in a shared tent and EUR 1,190 for a tent to yourself, 10% less when booked by 12 October.

> **Good to know:** Since 1 January 2026 every visitor needs [health and accident insurance](https://thegeorgianguide.com/practical-info/travel-insurance-georgia/) covering the whole stay, with a sum insured of at least 30,000 GEL, in English or Georgian, on paper or on a phone, naming Georgia, the dates, the risks, the limit and the premium. Border officers can ask for it, and airlines have checked it at the gate. It is a condition of entry to the country rather than something the glamping asks for.

## How do you get to a glamping site from Batumi, Kutaisi and Tbilisi?

You get to the nearest town cheaply, and then you sort out the last 10 to 30 km yourself. That last leg is where a glamping trip in Georgia gets difficult, and it is worth settling before you book the bed.

| Leg | How | 2026 price | Time |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Tbilisi to Batumi | Stadler train, two year-round departures at 08:05 and 17:10 | from 35 GEL economy | about 4 hours |
| Tbilisi to Batumi | Marshrutka from Didube | 25-35 GEL | 5.5-6 hours |
| Tbilisi to Kutaisi | Marshrutka from Didube | 25 GEL | 4-4.5 hours |
| Tbilisi to Stepantsminda | Marshrutka from Didube | 20 GEL | 3-3.5 hours |
| Tbilisi to Sighnaghi | Marshrutka from Navtlughi at Samgori metro | 15 GEL | 2-2.5 hours |
| Tbilisi to Borjomi | Marshrutka from Didube | 15 GEL | 2-2.5 hours |
| Kutaisi airport to Batumi | Train | 31 GEL | 2 hours |
| Kutaisi airport to Batumi | Bus | 25 GEL | 2 hours |
| Kutaisi to Ambrolauri | Marshrutka from the Chain Bridge stand | 12 GEL | 2-2.5 hours |
| Batumi to Khulo | Marshrutka from the old bus station | about 10 GEL | 2.5 hours |
| Khulo to Village Tago | 4x4 taxi, waits at the cable car station | 75 GEL per car | 30-35 minutes |
| Stepantsminda to Juta | Taxi | from 60 GEL one way | 30-40 minutes |
| Natakhtari to Mestia or Ambrolauri | Vanilla Sky | 90 GEL or 50 GEL | 1 hour |

Three rules make the difference. [Marshrutkas are cash only](https://thegeorgianguide.com/practical-info/marshrutka-guide-georgia/), there is no app, no card reader and no advance booking on ordinary routes, and vans leave when they fill, so carry small notes and travel before midday. Tbilisi has three minibus yards and going to the wrong one is the commonest first-timer mistake: Didube for everything north and west, Navtlughi at Samgori metro for Kakheti. And ride-hailing apps stop at the edge of the mountains, so from the last town you ask the glamping to send a car.

For our own valley the pattern is fixed: a marshrutka from [Batumi's old bus station at 1 Mayakovsky Street](https://madloba.info/batumi/avtostantsii-avtobusy-i-avtobusnye-kassy/marshrutka-batumi-khulo/) to Khulo for about 10 GEL, every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 20:00, then the 4x4 taxi that waits by the Khulo cable car station, or one we send. Message reception about half an hour before you reach Khulo. The [full arrival guide](https://glampingtago.ge/how-to-get-to-glamping-tago) has the private transfer prices from Batumi, Kutaisi, Tbilisi and Akhaltsikhe, and [the last dependable van back from Khulo leaves around 18:00](https://glampingtago.ge/blog/mountainous-adjara).

> **Watch out:** Do not follow Google Maps for the last leg to a mountain glamping. Our own [arrival guide](https://glampingtago.ge/how-to-get-to-glamping-tago) tells drivers to use Maps.me instead and to follow the wooden signs, because other apps send cars up ways ordinary cars cannot take. The other trap has a name: Chao is a different village, 1.6 km from us in a straight line but 13 km and 20 minutes away by road. If your map offers you Chao, you are in the wrong valley.

## Do you need a 4x4, and which sites can a normal car reach?

Most of them, and the exceptions are worth knowing before you book a city car at the airport.

A normal car reaches Jewelberry, Mindori, Hill Inn, Eco House Merisi, Signagi Glamping, Lost Ridge Inn, Sairme, Komli and Shromantic Garden without drama. A normal car does not make the direct road from Khulo up to Glamping Tago, so drivers without a 4x4 park in Khulo centre and take the 4x4 taxi, or come [the Skhalta valley way](https://glampingtago.ge/how-to-get-to-glamping-tago): turn off at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, and climb through Cheri and Dzmagula on a mountain road that is easier and suits normal cars and minibuses driven slowly. No car of any kind reaches Zeta Camping, where the last few hundred metres are a walking trail and the road into Juta itself stops at a barricade. The road up to Ajara Glamping is steep and unpaved, and the last stretch to Mtirala is rough.

Two catches with a hire car. [Hire contracts forbid the Goderdzi pass and void the insurance](https://glampingtago.ge/blog/mountainous-adjara) if you cross it, which matters if you plan to come in from Akhaltsikhe. And winter tyres have been [compulsory on the designated mountain sections](https://mia.police.ge/en/2024-tslis-1-ianvridan-dzalashi-shedis-kanoni-romelits-satransporto-sashualebis-zamtris-saburavebit-aghchurvis-valdebulebas-itvalistsinebs/16094) since 1 January 2024: driving without them where they are required costs 100 GEL and 5 licence points, and the car can be taken to a protected parking lot.

## Can you pay by card, and what if it rains?

Cards work at the bigger sites and cash runs everything else. Bring notes.

[Glamping Tago](https://glampingtago.ge/faq/) takes credit cards, bank transfers and cash. Jewelberry takes cash, Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer; Dumbo Eco Camp takes cash, card or transfer; [Hill Inn](https://visitajara.com/en/hotels/972) and Calypso Kvariati take cards. Hotel Khulo Inn and Kazbegi Glamping are cash only, and so are marshrutkas, village guesthouses and the stalls on the passes.

Rain is the other thing to plan for, because the western mountains are the wettest part of the country. At our place a wet afternoon means [the restaurant, board games, Georgian wine or a craft beer](https://glampingtago.ge/faq/) and a book in the tent; the dome sites all have a roof and a bathroom of their own; Zeta and Dumbo have indoor kitchens to sit in. Check-in at our camp is from 15:00 and check-out is 11:00, and you can stay on site outside those hours.

Two more questions guests ask before they book. Parking: there is a place to park at Glamping Tago if you have a 4x4, and free parking at Jewelberry, Sairme, Khulo Inn and Hill Inn. Pets: we are pet-friendly at no extra charge, Mindori and Mtirala Glamping take dogs, Shromantic Garden takes well-behaved pets by prior arrangement, and Zeta Camping does not allow them. Children of all ages are welcome with us, and the main guest has to be at least 16.

## Can you camp in your own tent instead, and where is that allowed?

Yes. [Wild camping is legal in Georgia](https://georgia.travel/wild-camping-in-georgia): the coast, the mountains, a lakeshore or a forest are all open, and the one hard rule is that you cannot camp on private property without permission, which takes care in half-abandoned villages where a house that looks empty is not.

Inside a national park you pitch on the designated sites only, and some parks want a permit or advance booking, with real fines if you ignore it. The [Agency of Protected Areas](https://apa.gov.ge/en/eco-tourism/servisebi-da-tarifebi/borjom-xaragaulis-daculi-teritoriebi) charges the same tariff nearly everywhere: 5 GEL per person for a campsite, 20 GEL for a bed in a tourist shelter and 10 GEL for pupils and students, with a tent for hire at 10 GEL a day, a sleeping bag or backpack at 5 GEL and a foam mat at 3 GEL. Fires go in the arranged fire places only.

Three parks make the easiest first night out.

- **[Mtirala National Park](https://apa.gov.ge/en/eco-tourism/servisebi-da-tarifebi/mtiralas-erovnuli-parki)**, Colchic rainforest on the Kobuleti-Chakvi ridge 28.3 km by road from Batumi and [the wettest place in Georgia at 4,520 mm of rain a year](https://ka.wikipedia.org/wiki/მტირალას_ეროვნული_პარკი). Nothing on the tariff list charges you to walk in. Two marked trails, Tsablnari and Tsivtskaro, with arranged picnic and camping places, a 220 m zip-line and a rope park at 15 GEL, a horse at 50 GEL a day, and a tourist shelter at the 9th km of the trail. The Tsablnari trail ends at a 28 m waterfall. Season May to October, visitor service on +995 577 10 18 89.
- **[Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park](https://apa.gov.ge/en/eco-tourism/servisebi-da-tarifebi/borjom-xaragaulis-daculi-teritoriebi)**, 12 marked trails with [four tourist shelters](https://borjomi-kharagauli-np.ge/services) along them: no bedding, no indoor cooking, fireplaces only. Campsites, fireplaces and parking sit at the entrances, and the visitor centres are at 23 Meskheti Street in Borjomi and 17 King Solomon Street in Kharagauli, open 09:00 to 18:00 on weekdays. A marshrutka from Didube in Tbilisi is 15 GEL and 2 to 2.5 hours.
- **[Machakhela National Park](https://nationalparks.ge/en/site/machakhelanp)**, 30 km from Batumi in the Machakhelistsqali valley, three walking trails tied into a car route, a visitor centre at Acharisaghmarti on +995 595 08 60 75, and an active season from May to October.

In the villages the cheapest bed of all is a family's garden: 5 to 10 GEL to pitch, with the house toilet and shower thrown in. Our own site is zoned as a campground too, so you can pitch a tent for a camping-spot fee that covers the showers and toilets.

> **Mtirala National Park** (Chakvistavi, behind Batumi (Adjara))
> The camping counterpoint to a glamping tent near Batumi: Colchic rainforest 28.3 km by road from the city, two marked trails with camping and picnic places, a shelter at the 9th km and a 28 m waterfall on the Tsablnari trail. It is the wettest place in the country at 4,520 mm of rain a year, so bring a rain plan.

## What should you pack for a glamping night in the Georgian mountains?

Pack for a +25 C day and a night near zero, because that is what the Caucasus does in summer.

- A warm layer, a hat and socks for the evening, whatever the forecast for the nearest town says. Weather apps show the valley, not the ridge.
- A rain shell. The western mountains are the wettest part of the country.
- Insect repellent for the humid coast and foothills.
- Sunscreen: the sun is harsh above 1,500 m even when the air is cold.
- Cash in small notes. Marshrutkas, village guesthouses and the stalls on the passes do not take cards, and a 100 GEL note for a 15 GEL fare will not make you popular.
- An offline map, downloaded in the city. Maps.me and OsmAnd show the mountain tracks that other apps invent.
- Your own sleeping bag only if you are camping. A glamping tent comes with linen, towels and blankets, and ours also has earplugs.
- A head torch for the walk to the bathroom block after dark.
- Groceries if you are heading somewhere with no shop. Eco House Merisi, Krikhi and Zeta all have guests who wish they had brought more.

## How do you book, and how far ahead?

1. Pick the region by the airport you land at: Batumi for Adjara and Guria, Kutaisi for Imereti and Racha, Tbilisi for Mtskheta, Kazbegi and Kakheti.
2. Check the season before the price. A site at 2,000 m is shut for seven months of the year, and the road matters more than the tent.
3. Book the bed at least a week ahead in July and August, and earlier for a whole-site booking: our own June to September dates go 6 to 12 months ahead for groups.
4. Book by phone or the site's own page. Several of the best places in this guide, Hill Inn and Dumbo among them, answer a call faster than a message, and aggregator listings describe the tents wrongly.
5. Sort the last leg in the same conversation. Ask whether a normal car reaches the site, and if not, what the transfer costs and how much notice it needs.
6. Buy travel insurance for at least 30,000 GEL of cover before you fly. It is an entry requirement.
7. Buy a Magti SIM in town rather than at the airport desk if you plan to work or navigate.

## What do people get wrong about glamping in Georgia?

- **That every tent has its own bathroom.** Domes usually do, canvas tents usually do not, and the listing you are reading is often wrong about it.
- **That the distances on travel blogs are real.** Measured on the road from Batumi's old bus station, Eco House Merisi is 54.1 km away rather than the 50 km its own page claims, Hill Inn is 64.3 km, and Sairme is 69.1 km from Kutaisi airport.
- **That the Khulo cable car is a way to arrive.** Guides written in 2021 still send readers up it. [It has stood still for two years and will be replaced rather than repaired](https://glampingtago.ge/blog/mountainous-adjara), and there is no reopening date. The taxis that wait at its lower station are the way up.
- **That a glamping site is a hotel with a tent.** Most of these places are four to twelve units run by a family. Nobody is on the front desk at 23:00, and the kitchen closes.
- **That you can turn up.** Sites with one or five units sell out on a summer weekend, and several take bookings only by phone or direct message.
- **That "Georgia" means one thing.** This guide is Georgia the country, in the Caucasus between the Black Sea and the Greater Caucasus range, and not the US state of the same name.

## Glamping Tago: a canvas tent at 1,200 m in the Adjara mountains

We are on the ridge above Village Tago in Khulo municipality, in mountainous Adjara, two and a half to three hours from Batumi. Twelve Lotus Belle tents for two and a nine-bed dome dormitory stand along the ridge at 1,200 m, with 2,000 m mountains around them, and the whole site takes 33 people.

Every tent has a wood-burning stove with the wood included, a gas heater, a bed that splits into two singles, a sofa, sockets, linen, towels and earplugs. The showers and toilets are in the shared block under the half-dome. Morning yoga and the evening campfire come with the stay, the [sauna tent with its cold plunge](/activities/sauna-cold-plunge/) is lit between 20:00 and 22:00 with the sauna free for staying guests, and [Yurtalicious](/restaurant), our vegetarian yurt restaurant, does breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A normal car does not make the last 7.7 km from Khulo, so drivers park in town and take the 4x4 taxi, or we send one. We take cards, bank transfers and cash, pets come free and children of any age are welcome. The [arrival guide](/how-to-get-to-glamping-tago) has every route, and [today's prices](https://glampingtago.ge/book?from=blog_text) are on the booking page.

- **Where:** Village Tago, Khulo municipality, mountainous Adjara, at 1,200 m
- **Beds on site:** 12 Lotus Belle tents for two plus a nine-bed dome, 33 beds
- **Season:** 1 April to the end of October
- **Drive from Batumi:** 92.4 km, 2.5 to 3 hours; the road up from Khulo needs a 4x4
- **Inside the tent:** Wood stove with wood, gas heater, double bed, sofa, sockets, linen, towels, earplugs
- **Bathrooms:** Shared block under the half-dome: hot water, heating, hairdryer, bathrobes, smart-glass showers
- **Included:** Morning yoga, the campfire and the sauna, free for staying guests; the sauna tent is lit every evening 20:00-22:00
- **Wifi:** Starlink wifi tested at 300 Mbps in the co-working space

## FAQ

**Where can you go glamping in Georgia (the country)?**

The clusters are mountainous Adjara behind Batumi, the villages around Mtskheta and west of Tbilisi, Racha around Ambrolauri, Kakheti around Sighnaghi, Guria and Imereti in the middle of the country, and the Kazbegi valleys. Adjara has the deepest choice by far, with a glamping category of its own in the official Adjara tourism guide. Svaneti, for all its fame, has no site that meets the bar of 4.3 stars from 20 or more reviews.

**How much does glamping in Georgia cost per night in 2026?**

A unit for two runs 120 to 450 GEL a night. The cheapest real glamping in the Adjara valley is 120 GEL, a tent or tree house at Hill Inn is 300-450 GEL, and a cedar barrel for two at Komli in Guria is 140 GEL, 160 GEL with breakfast. Pitching your own tent on a national park site is 5 GEL per person.

**Do glamping tents in Georgia have a toilet, a shower and heating?**

Domes almost always have their own shower and toilet; canvas bell tents usually share a block. Heating is a wood stove, a gas heater or an electric one, and every site in this guide has some. Ask before booking, because aggregator listings regularly describe shared bathrooms as private.

**Is there glamping near Batumi and in the Adjara mountains?**

Yes, and this is the densest cluster in the country. Measured from Batumi's old bus station, the closest is Mtirala Glamping at 26.1 km, then Eco House Merisi at 54.1 km, Ajara Glamping at 58.6 km, Hill Inn at 64.3 km and Glamping Tago at 92.4 km. Everything above Khulo is a mountain road, and only Ajara Glamping is genuinely on the way up the valley.

**Which glamping is closest to Tbilisi and the airport?**

Jewelberry, in the Shuaguli garden near Mtskheta: 33.5 km and about 50 minutes from the city and 49.3 km from the airport, on asphalt the whole way. Mindori at Kavtiskhevi is the other easy one, 48.2 km and about 55 minutes from Tbilisi.

**When is the glamping season in Georgia, and can you go in winter?**

Most tent sites run May to October and the high ones June to September. Glamping Tago opens on 1 April and closes at the end of October. In winter the canvas sites are shut: what runs is the Goderdzi ski resort from late December to the end of March, and the year-round hotels and cottages in the valleys.

**Do glamping tents get cold at night in the Georgian mountains?**

Yes. A +25 C day at 1,200 m turns into a night near 8 C, and at Juta's 2,270 m it drops towards zero even in July. A wood stove needs refuelling every three or four hours, so ask for extra blankets at check-in and bring a warm layer and a hat whatever the forecast for the nearest town says.

**Can you reach a glamping site in Georgia without a car?**

To the nearest town, easily: a marshrutka is about 10 GEL from Batumi to Khulo, 20 GEL from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda and 12 GEL from Kutaisi to Ambrolauri, cash only. The last 10 to 30 km is the problem, because ride-hailing apps stop at the edge of the mountains. Arrange the transfer with the site when you book.

**Can you pay by card at a Georgian glamping?**

At the bigger sites, yes. Glamping Tago takes cards, bank transfers and cash, Jewelberry takes cash, Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer, and Dumbo Eco Camp takes cash, card or transfer. Hotel Khulo Inn and Kazbegi Glamping are cash only, and so are marshrutkas, village guesthouses and the stalls on the passes, so carry small notes.

**Can I pitch my own tent instead, and where is that allowed?**

Wild camping is legal in Georgia, and the hard rule is that you cannot camp on private property without permission. Inside a national park you camp on the designated sites for 5 GEL per person, with tents to hire at 10 GEL a day and a bed in a tourist shelter at 20 GEL; some parks want a permit or advance booking. In the villages, a family will usually let you pitch in the garden for 5 to 10 GEL.
