A wedding supra in Adjara is a long table of shared Georgian dishes, wine and chacha, led by a tamada who calls the toasts. At [Glamping Tago](/weddings) in the mountains above Khulo, the feast costs 85 GEL per guest for the Mountain Supra, 125 GEL for the Euro-Georgian buffet and 215 GEL for the five-course Signature menu. ## Which venue fits your wedding feast?

Choose the venue by how you want the evening to go: one long feast with everyone sleeping on site, or a banquet hall dinner after which everyone goes home. Here are the places in this guide, with the facts that decide it.

| Venue | Whole venue for your group | Guests sleep on site | Where you eat | Feast price per guest | Distance | Size |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Glamping Tago, Khulo (Adjara) | Yes, one wedding at a time | Yes, 33 beds | Sailcloth event tent on a mountain ridge | 85-215 GEL | 92 km from Batumi, about 2 h | Made for about 30 guests |
| Eco House Merisi, Keda (Adjara) | Only with a full hotel buyout | Yes, in the hotel | Glass restaurant hall and 2 verandas | Priced per wedding | 54 km from Batumi | Restaurant up to 50 |

| Lopota Lake Resort, Kakheti | No, a shared resort | Yes, 310 rooms | Banquet halls for 220 and 250 | Not published | About 2 h from Tbilisi | Up to 250 seated |

### Glamping Tago (our venue), Khulo, Adjara

Where: on the ridge above Village Tago, Khulo municipality, at about 1,200 m. Drive: about 2 hours from Batumi. Capacity: made for weddings of about 30 guests, with 33 beds on site. Feast: from 85 GEL per guest (2026). Season: April to the end of October.

The whole camp belongs to one wedding, so the supra is not a dinner slot in a hall: guests eat in the event tent, sleep a few steps away and have breakfast together the next morning. The kitchen is vegetarian and cooks from local produce, and meat comes from the barbecue station or the khinkali add-on (more on that below).

## What is on an Adjarian wedding supra menu?

A wedding supra puts every dish on the table at once: salads, cold starters with walnuts, cheeses, breads, hot dishes and grilled meat, with wine poured all evening. A family supra can carry 20 to 30 dishes and last 4 to 10 hours, while a restaurant supra runs 2 to 3 hours, according to the [Georgia Spirit supra guide](https://www.georgia-spirit.com/guides/supra-feast-guide/). The word supra itself means "tablecloth". Plan your evening for the long version: at a wedding the toasts, songs and dancing fill the whole night.

A festive supra with music and dancing is a keipi; the quiet memorial supra without music is a kelekhi ([Winilia](https://winilia.com/journal/georgian-supra-guide)). A wedding is always a keipi, often with 20 or more toasts in one evening. The supra has been on Georgia's national list of intangible cultural heritage since 2017 ([Tbilisi Foodie](https://tbilisifoodie.ge/georgian-supra)).

What makes it Adjarian is the mountain dairy and a few dishes found nowhere else in Georgia. The [Georgian National Tourism Administration](https://georgia.travel/ajarian-dishes) splits the region's cooking into mountain, Kobuleti, Memte and Laz kitchens, and in mountain Adjara about 95% of dishes are cooked with butter ([georgia.travel](https://georgia.travel/ka/სინორი)).

## Which Adjarian dishes belong on the wedding table?

Put at least two mountain dishes on the table next to the Georgian classics: Adjarian khachapuri and borano are the easy wins, and majuni is the traditional wedding dessert.

| Dish | What it is | Vegetarian |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Adjarian khachapuri | Boat-shaped bread filled with cheese, butter and an egg yolk | Yes |
| Borano | Butter boiled until dark specks appear, then shredded cheese stirred in, eaten with mchadi cornbread | Yes |
| Malakhto | Browned butter with crumbled cheese softened in hot water, eaten with hot mchadi | Yes |
| Sinori | Thin baked dough sheets with cottage cheese or nadugi, butter and garlic | Yes |
| Achma | Layers of boiled dough with cheese and melted butter, often compared to lasagne | Yes |
| Pkhali and pkhal-lobio | Vegetable and walnut pastes, beans, with mchadi and pickles | Vegan |
| Majuni | Boiled rice with honey and black pepper, the wedding dessert | Yes |

Majuni carries the meaning: the first portion goes to the bride and groom, and the sweet and hot taste wishes them a family life full of sweet and hot events ([georgia.travel](https://georgia.travel/ka/აჭარული-სამზარეულო)). Today only Kobuleti families on the coast still make it; it was a key dish of the wedding feast and, by some accounts, of the souls' days after a funeral ([Tunadze, 2025](https://nbi.openjournals.ge/index.php/nbi/article/view/10406)). Ask your caterer for it early: few kitchens know the recipe.

Sinori takes its name from the Adjarian and Laz word for "border" ([georgia.travel](https://georgia.travel/ka/სინორი)), and [Visit Batumi](https://visitbatumi.com/en/blog/Ajarian-Cuisine) counts it with achma among the real gems of Adjarian cooking. Chirbuli, kaisapa, tsurvili and doshorva are other dishes found only in Adjara ([georgia.travel](https://georgia.travel/ajarian-dishes)).

> **Tip:** Taste before you choose. In Batumi, [Adjika Family Restaurant](#place-adjika) serves Adjarian khachapuri at 18 GEL and khinkali at 3 GEL each, so a lunch there tells your families what the mountain dishes are before the menu is fixed.

The food is only part of a wedding evening. The other lines: your own wine (15 GEL corkage per bottle), a host or tamada, and music. Host prices are 2026 quotes from 7 hosts who work in Batumi and Adjara, live music is what our couples have paid, and the tamada fee for western Georgia comes from [biznesebi.ge](https://biznesebi.ge/servisebi/kategoria/sadghesaswaulo-momsakhureba-tamada):

## What does a supra for 30 guests cost, worked out?

A September wedding night for 30 guests at Glamping Tago, with the Mountain Supra, the barbecue, reception appetizers, breakfast the next morning and an Adjaran folk trio, comes to about 11,300 GEL. That includes every bed on site, so it is about 377 GEL per guest for the night, the feast and breakfast.

**A September feast night for 30 guests at Glamping Tago**

| | amount | share |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Whole camp, one night | 5,041 GEL | 45% |
| Mountain Supra | 2,550 GEL | 23% |
| BBQ live station | 1,350 GEL | 12% |
| Breakfast next morning | 960 GEL | 8% |
| Adjaran folk trio | 950 GEL | 8% |
| Reception appetizers | 450 GEL | 4% |

| Line, 30 guests, September 2026 | Price | Total |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Whole camp for one night (all 33 beds, event tent included) | 5,041 GEL per night | 5,041 GEL |
| Mountain Supra | 85 GEL x 30 | 2,550 GEL |
| BBQ live station | 45 GEL x 30 | 1,350 GEL |
| Reception appetizers | 15 GEL x 30 | 450 GEL |
| Breakfast buffet next morning | 32 GEL x 30 | 960 GEL |
| Adjaran folk trio with panduri | 900 GEL + 50 GEL transfer | 950 GEL |
| **Total** | | **11,301 GEL** |

The whole-camp price changes with the month: 3,258 GEL a night in April, 3,711 in May, 5,041 in June and September, 6,035 in July and August and 3,646 in October. Our [organizer guide](https://glampingtago.ge/weddings/organizer-info) puts a full 30-guest wedding with dinner, breakfast and accommodation at 5,000 to 15,000 USD, depending on the season and the decor. A complete two-night September weekend with meals, decor, vendors, registrar and transfers is laid out hour by hour in our [30-guest wedding weekend](/blog/glamping-wedding-weekend-georgia), and the full budget lines are in [what a wedding costs in Georgia](/blog/wedding-cost-georgia).

> **Cost:** Not in the total: drinks and corkage, the cake (ordered in Batumi), decor such as flowers on the tables and in the tent (750 GEL) or fireworks (600 GEL), and transport. Two 15-seat minibuses from Batumi cost 410 GEL each, each way.

## Can the whole wedding supra be vegetarian or vegan?

Yes. A Georgian table is easy to make meat-free, because many supra classics are vegan by tradition. Pkhali, badrijani nigvzit (aubergine with walnut), ajapsandali, jonjoli pickles and mchadi cornbread are vegan as standard; for a vegan table ask for samarkhvo (fasting) food and check for butter on the mushrooms and ham in the lobio ([The Georgian Guide](https://thegeorgianguide.com/food-wine/vegetarian-vegan-georgia/)).

Our kitchen at Glamping Tago is vegetarian, so the Mountain Supra is vegetarian by default and fully vegan on request. The menu of Yurtalicious, our yurt restaurant, has 17 dishes, 8 of them vegan and 9 gluten-free. Typical supra dishes from it: a pkhali board, Adjaran pkhal-lobio with mchadi and pickles, borano and rice-stuffed peppers.

For the meat-lovers in the family, add the BBQ live station (45 GEL per guest) or meat khinkali on the supra (15 GEL per guest). The barbecue is cooked for the whole group, not for part of it. One couple chose 70% chicken and 30% beef for their [27-guest supra](https://wedding.glampingtago.ge/case-studies/wedding-victoria-lev); another wedding, a [38-guest alcohol-free family wedding](https://glampingtago.ge/weddings/case-studies/wedding-margo-nikolay), took the Euro-Georgian buffet with a live barbecue and no pork.

> **Watch out:** Order meat for everyone or for no one. The barbecue comes for the whole group, so do not plan it for "only the uncles": the vegetarians simply fill up on the rest of the table.

## How much wine and chacha do you need, and can you bring your own?

Yes, you can bring your own: corkage at Glamping Tago is 15 GEL per bottle, and 5-litre bottles are charged per litre. Our team can collect your drinks in Batumi and chill them, and the camp's own house wine by the litre, sparkling wine (45 GEL a bottle) and chacha come with a 10% wedding discount.

A decent qvevri wine rarely costs less than 15 to 20 GEL a bottle in a shop ([Visit Tbilisi](https://visit-tbilisi.com/georgian-wine/)). Two Batumi wine shops sit a few minutes from the old bus station, where the road to Khulo starts. [KTW Batumi Wine Shop](#place-ktw-wine-shop) publishes its prices online (Kindzmarauli 28 GEL, Tvishi 32 GEL), and the stop adds only 0.5 km to the drive up.

[Danelia's Old House of Wine](#place-danelias-wine) at 43 Zviad Gamsakhurdia Street, also a few hundred metres off the route, offers free tastings, wholesale, delivery, and chacha and wine in ceramic bottles. It is open every day from 10:00 to 20:00 (21:00 in summer), so an early start from Batumi still finds it open.

For an Adjarian wine on the table, [Adjarian Wine House](#place-adjarian-wine-house) sits right on the road up, in Adjaristskali village (Khelvachauri), and is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00. It makes a Chkhaveri rose and a Tsolikouri under its Porto Franco brand, plus a qvevri Saperavi. Its Google rating is 4.1, so taste before you buy by the case.

Chacha, the grape spirit, must be at least 40% alcohol when sold in shops, and most bottles are 40 to 50%; a factory bottle costs about 20 to 60 GEL ([Maspindzeli](https://maspindzeli.ge/guides/chacha/)). Homemade chacha is unmeasured and can run up to 85% ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chacha_%28brandy%29)).

> **Good to know:** Groups who bring their own wine often run short by the late toasts. Bring a little more than you think, or agree in advance that the camp opens its house wine when yours runs out.

## Do you need a tamada, and how do the toasts work?

You need someone to lead the table. A Georgian tamada knows the order of the toasts and the songs and costs 800 to 1,200 GEL per event in western Georgia; couples with foreign guests can take a host (MC) instead, typically about 1,080 GEL for an entry package or 3,000 GEL for a 6-hour Russian-speaking host from our partner list.

The toasts follow an order that every Georgian at the table knows. A typical sequence, as [Tbilisi Foodie](https://tbilisifoodie.ge/georgian-supra) lays it out:

1. Peace, God and the reason for the feast (at a wedding: the couple).
2. Georgia.
3. Parents and ancestors.
4. The departed, drunk standing and without clinking glasses.
5. Children.
6. Women.
7. Friendship and the guests.
8. The tamada, last.

The order varies by family and region. Guests answer each toast with "gaumarjos" (to victory), and the tamada can hand a toast to another guest with "alaverdi", who then builds on it. While the tamada speaks, nobody drinks, and one toast can last half an hour ([Advantour](https://www.advantour.com/rus/georgia/culture/supra.htm)). A merikipe sits next to the tamada and pours the wine for everyone, the tamada included ([Advantour](https://www.advantour.com/rus/georgia/traditions/feast.htm)).

In western Georgia it is custom not to accept the tamada role at once, while in the east people agree without being persuaded ([Vita Travel](https://vitatravel.ge/?page_id=3281)). A good tamada also keeps the guests from getting drunk. Meet yours 2 to 4 weeks before the wedding to agree the toasts, the languages and who gets an alaverdi.

> **Watch out:** The kantsi, the drinking horn, cannot be set down upright once it is full, so it is finished in one go ([Winilia](https://winilia.com/journal/georgian-supra-guide)). Say before the pour if you do not want a full horn.

For the live music around the toasts, see [wedding music in Georgia](/blog/wedding-music-georgia), and for the rest of the customs, [Georgian wedding traditions](/blog/georgian-wedding-traditions).

## How do you plan the feast, step by step?

Book the date first, then the people who lead the evening, and fix the food last, one week before.

1. **6 to 12 months ahead:** book the venue. June to September dates go first. At Glamping Tago a 30% prepayment confirms the date; it is non-refundable. Site visits are welcome on weekends, or ask for a live video walk-through.
2. **Once the date is fixed:** book the tamada or host and the musicians.
3. **2 to 4 weeks ahead:** meet the tamada and agree the toasts and the languages.
4. **1 week ahead:** send the menu choice, the drinks order, the cake size and the address where we collect your alcohol in Batumi.
5. **7 days ahead:** confirm the food headcount in writing. That number becomes the invoice.
6. **On the way up:** buy wine and chacha in Batumi and take cash. Khulo, 6.5 km before the camp by road, has banks, a pharmacy and fuel; the Skhalta valley road skips Khulo, so minibus groups take cash in Batumi.

The balance is paid before arrival, in lari by bank transfer or a payment link (company invoices in GEL or EUR). The food, the drinks and the extras are settled at the end of the stay against an itemised invoice, in cash or by transfer, and transfers are paid in cash at our reception, never to the driver.

The wedding day at Glamping Tago usually runs like this: the ceremony at 16:00, canapes and sparkling wine at 17:00, dinner in the event tent at 19:00, cake and fireworks at 20:30, then music outside until midnight, after which the party moves into the yurt.

> **Tip:** Order the cake in Batumi and send us its size: our kitchen adds the fruit and the final touches, and the freezer door is 60 x 50 cm. We can bring 20 kg of ice from our Batumi supplier on request.

If it rains, the tent walls close and the ceremony moves under the tent or into the yurt; on a cold night our team moves the wood stoves into the event tent. Starlink Wi-Fi (about 300 Mbps) covers vendors and live streams for relatives at home.

The camp lends its 10 wooden tables and benches, tablecloths, linen napkins, plates, cutlery, glasses and candle holders free of charge. For a 35-guest supra, nine tables were set three by three, with khinkali, house Manavi and Saperavi, homemade lemonade for the non-drinkers and the two nut dishes marked for a guest with a nut allergy ([case study](https://wedding.glampingtago.ge/case-studies/wedding-anastasia-artem)).

## How do you get your guests to a mountain feast?

From Batumi it is about 92 km and 2 hours to Glamping Tago by the Khulo road, or 94 km by the Skhalta valley. The easier road for minibuses turns off the Batumi-Akhaltsikhe road at Zamleti, 4.7 km before Khulo, and climbs the Skhalta valley through Cheri and Dzmagula.

| Way up (2026 prices) | Time | Price |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 15-seat minibus from Batumi, whole group | About 2 h | 410 GEL per minibus, each way |
| Private 4x4 from Batumi, up to 4 people | 2 h 30 | 265 GEL per car |
| Private 4x4 from Kutaisi, up to 4 people | 5 h 30 | 465 GEL per car |
| Own coach to Khulo, then our 15-seat minibus | About 2 h + 30 min | 135 GEL per minibus from Khulo, each way |
| Marshrutka Batumi to Khulo, then our 4x4 taxi | 2 h 30 + 30-35 min | About 10 GEL, then 75 GEL per car |

Big coaches cannot reach the camp, so a large group often takes its own coach to Khulo and our minibuses from there. Guests who drive a normal car park in Khulo centre and take our 4x4 taxi. All the routes and timetables are on [how to get to Glamping Tago](/how-to-get-to-glamping-tago).

> **Watch out:** Mountain evenings are cool. Nights at the camp usually drop to about 15°C in July, 10-13°C in June and September and 5-8°C in October, and it rains on 11 to 14 days a month from June to October. Plan the dinner under the event tent and tell guests to bring a warm layer, even in summer.

## Common mistakes with a wedding supra in the mountains

- **Fixing the headcount late.** The food number is locked in writing 7 days before and becomes the invoice, so count the children (under 6 free, 6-12 half price) before then.
- **Leaving the drinks for the mountains.** Buy wine and chacha in Batumi on the way: three wine shops sit on the route out of town, and we chill your bottles on arrival.
- **No tamada brief.** A tamada who does not know who the parents are, or which languages the guests speak, cannot do the job. Meet 2 to 4 weeks before.
- **Too much chacha too early.** Homemade chacha is far stronger than shop chacha. Let the tamada set the pace.
- **Forgetting the non-drinkers.** Homemade lemonade, compote and water come with our supra; for an alcohol-free wedding add soft drinks, tea and coffee.

## A mountain wedding supra at Glamping Tago

We are Jonas and Lisa, a Belgian couple who fell in love with Georgia and opened Glamping Tago in 2021. We made it for weddings of about 30 guests: the whole camp belongs to your wedding, everyone sleeps on site, and the supra is laid in the sailcloth event tent on the ridge above Tago.

Our kitchen cooks the feast from local produce: a vegetarian Georgian supra, a Euro-Georgian buffet or a five-course Signature menu, with a barbecue station and meat khinkali for the meat-lovers. Meals the rest of the weekend are in Yurtalicious, our yurt restaurant, and we collect your wine in Batumi and chill it.

- **Guests:** Made for weddings of about 30, with 33 beds on site
- **Feast:** Mountain Supra 85 GEL, Euro-Georgian buffet 125 GEL, Signature menu 215 GEL per guest
- **Meat add-ons:** BBQ live station 45 GEL, meat khinkali 15 GEL per guest
- **Whole camp:** From 3,258 GEL a night in April to 6,035 GEL in July and August
- **Own wine:** 15 GEL corkage per bottle
- **Drive from Batumi:** About 2 hours, 92 km
- **Season:** April to the end of October

## FAQ

**What food is served at a Georgian wedding supra?**

Everything arrives at once: salads, walnut pastes such as pkhali, cheeses, khachapuri, hot dishes, grilled meat and khinkali, with wine poured all evening. In Adjara, add borano, Adjarian khachapuri and majuni, the wedding dessert of rice with honey and black pepper.

**How much does a wedding dinner cost per guest in Adjara in 2026?**

About 80 to 215 GEL per guest for the food. At Glamping Tago the Mountain Supra is 85 GEL, the Euro-Georgian buffet 125 GEL and the five-course Signature menu 215 GEL; a BBQ live station adds 45 GEL. ORTA in Batumi starts at 80 GEL per guest.

**Is the food at Glamping Tago vegetarian?**

Yes, the kitchen is vegetarian and cooks from local produce, and vegan, gluten-free and allergy needs are handled with notice. For meat, add the BBQ live station (45 GEL per guest, cooked for the whole group) or meat khinkali (15 GEL per guest).

**Can we bring our own wine and chacha?**

Yes. Corkage is 15 GEL per bottle, and 5-litre bottles are charged per litre. We can collect your drinks in Batumi and chill them, and our house wine, sparkling wine and chacha come with a 10% wedding discount.

**What does a tamada cost in Georgia?**

A tamada costs 800 to 1,200 GEL per event in western Georgia and 1,000 to 2,500 GEL in Tbilisi. A host (MC) in Batumi and Adjara typically charges about 1,080 GEL for an entry package, and a 6-hour Russian-speaking host from our partner list is 3,000 GEL.

**When do we need to confirm the menu and the number of guests?**

Send the menu choice, the drinks order and the cake size one week before the wedding. The food headcount is fixed in writing 7 days before and becomes the invoice; a 30% prepayment confirms the date and the balance is paid before arrival.

**Can you feed more than 33 guests at Glamping Tago?**

Yes. The camp is made for weddings of about 30 guests who all sleep on site, and bigger weddings of up to about 100 guests work with the family guesthouses in Tago village for the extra beds. The menus are the same per-guest prices.

**Do children pay for the wedding dinner?**

Children under 6 eat free and children from 6 to 12 pay half. Your planner's team eats free; just tell us how many.
